What you are seeing sounds like the "advertised update" from Firefox 3.6 versions to Firefox 8.0.1 that started on 2011-12-01. See --> https://wiki.mozilla.org/Releases/Firefox_3.6_MU
This is the same as has occurred when prior versions were nearing their end-of-life. Support for Firefox 3.6 versions is likely to end in the first quarter of 2012.

The only currently supported versions are 3.6.24 and 8.0.1. How do I change the default apple ID that's displayed when buying or updating apps? It's currently defaulting to a no-longer-existing ID, and I don't know how to change it.
Any apps you purchased with the no-longer-existing ID will always have to be updated with the password to that account, you cannot merge account purchases.
To change to your new account go to Settings > Store > Apple ID: and put in the one you want to use. -

As you want to update your iPhone and iPad, you want iTunes 11.0.1, that requires Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
First, open > About this Mac, and see "Processor". If it's an Intel processor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard, so buy it > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Then, make a backup of your data, insert the Snow Leopard disc and upgrade to Snow Leopard.
The DVD contains Mac OS X 10.6.3, so open > Software Update and install 10.6.8. Then, run Software Update again to install iTunes 11, so you will be able to sync the iPhone and iPad.

I downloaded it to the iMac from the app store...You are allowed to install it on multiple machines when bought from the Mac App Store. Just open the app store on the second computer and go to the purchased tab at the top of the window and click install where Lion shows up. (You have to be using the same Mac app store Apple ID.

Iphone and Ipad?No. Ask your carrier if they have a plan that will give you a discounted rate on roaming. That is what I have done for my travels and it has worked very well for me.

I updated my OS from 10.6.4., to 10.8.2. I want to buy iDVD and iMovie, but I bought iPhoto and can't get it to work yet. I'm hesitant to buy the others without now having the original applications on my laptop. Do I need to buy the older versions first? They are probably on my Snow Leopard install disc, but I am now running Mt Lion that I bought, and downloaded a few days ago...so I don't want to insert the old OS disc, thinking it might want to reinstall the old OS... KathyH-PDownload iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. -

This is not my problem. However, I think it may be related to an old speaker. I was using the 30 pin adapter for about a week after the upgrade to 7.1.2. But I think with the update the speaker won't work anymore. I will try with a new speaker system. Thank you for trying to assist.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, upgrade it as if it was a Core Duo Mac, and once done, if desired, open the Mac App Store, and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.
