Do I need to buy the OS x Mountain Lion for every computer i own?

Do I need to buy the OS x Mountain Lion for every computer I own?
Or is there a certain limit of computers I can upgrade.

As long as you control the computer (wife, children) you can share.  But only the AppleID that bought ML can update it.

By default, ML no longer comes with the Java runtime preinstalled. I believe the route to enabling Java if you are going to need it is to run the Java Preferences app found in Utilities. It will inform you of Java's absence and offer to install the latest version and activate it. On subsequent runs, the Preferences app will allow you to fine tune how the runtime operates.
Note that the new default operation is for the applet plugin to be disabled. You need to enable it as needed and it self-deactivates if unused in awhile. Also important to note that Java comes in both 32 and 64 bit versions and you can set the preferred order. Default is 64-bit but I've had issues with some applets failing to run and have had to switch the order.

  • I have three iMacs - do i have to buy a copy of mountain lion for each?

I have three iMacs - do i have to buy a copy of mountain lion for each?

What Russa is saying is that if you don't save "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" before you install you'll need to download it again each time. It's important to save it before you install because it self-destructs after restart.

  • HT1338 if I purchased the OS X Mountain Lion for my 27" IMac do I have to purchase another one for my MacBook Pro

I purchased both 27" iMac and MacBook Pro on March 2012 wth Lion OS installed.  I just upgraded to the OS X Mountain Lion for my iMac and was wondering whether I have to pay again for the upgrade for my MBP?

no you do not need to purchase it again.  You can install it on multiple macs you own.  Sign in to the app store with the apple id used to purchase ML on the mac(s) you wish to install it on.  Hold down the option key and click on the purchases tab and click "download" next to ML.

  • Its been more than 24 hours and i have not received the claim of mountain lion for my new macbook pro.

its more than 24 hours and i havent received the claim of mountain lion for my new macbook pro

Brace yourself - I've been waiting over 48 hours and Apple claims it will take up to 72 hours. After that, God only knows! Oh yeah, if you get your code there's a chance someone's already used it too!

  • Buy the OS X Mountain Lion

    Hi,
When i try to buy the Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion the app store show me the message "Unable to verify file distribution. May be damaged or is not signed"
    Can you help me?

Either your hard drive is damaged and is causing the download to become corrupt (try repairing the hard drive) or your network connection is bad and is causing corruption in the download (try a different network).

  • If i restore my macbook air should i buy the macos c mountain lion or notb

    macos x retore

I'm unsure what version your computer is currently running but having Mountain Lion will make things easier since you can reinstall from the internet without having to worry about discs or a USB.

  • I cannot download the OS X Mountain Lion for the Mac Mini

I purchased a Mac Mini last week and cannot install the latest version of Mountain Lion.  This is preventing me from installing the current version of Aperture. I read on cnet.com that this is an issue.  Has Apple provided a fix?
    Thanks, Mark

The update was available last week and Apple removed it; I'm sure there was a reason why they did that.
In any case, there are two different builds of 10.8.2 - that is why one version is and will be available since it is for the majority of machines out there. That build is 12C60 (and is running on my 2010 iMac). Only some 2012 machines such as yours require a special build which is the one that was taken off for the moment (before it disappeared, that was build 12C3006).
So, try to be patient; hopefully they're working on it and the update will be available asap.

  • I have a MacBook and cannot connect to App Store. I have no problem with the internet connection. I want to be able to buy the apps that are available for my computer. The date, time and location are all correct - all the suggestions have failed

I have a MacBook - I am unable to connect to App Store - I have no problems using the internet to connect to anything else. I have checked out all the suggestions - Apple Preference and time, date, location etc. they are all correct. I cannot think what else I should do. Any suggestions please Cynthiafromgrayshott.

If you don't see any messages, not have anti-malware running or the Firewall on, try installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.8 (according to your profile).
Restart your Mac after the combo in installed, try the App Store.
Also... if you have an app called Little Snitch installed, that can prevent a connection to the App Store.

  • I just bought my macbook pro last week and heard that people who purchased it can upgrade the OS X Mountain Lion for free. I actually just down loaded it but I paid for it! How can I my refund back??

Where did you buy this laptop?  I know if I opened a box expecing and having paid for a 2012 model and found a 2010 model, I'd be back at the store demanding an exchange quicker than you could imagine.  Open box or not, if you thought you were buying a 2012 model, you should get what you paid for.

  • Is it possible to repurchase the OS X Mountain Lion after erasing Mac HD?

I had thought I already purchased the OS X Mountain Lion before on this apple account, but it appears not. I am trying to reboot my mac and already erased the Hard Drive and found out I do not have it on this account. I then asked my parents if I purchased on their apple account, but they do not remember the email they used for the account, so I am not able to retrieve it. Is there a way to repurchase the OS X Mountain Lion. I do not have the original installation disc either unfortunately. I am right now using my friend's PC to find a way to make the purchase, but it is saying I need to make the purchase using the Mac App Store. Please help me.

I didn't check before erasing the hard drive and I can't go the Mac App Store now to check.
The Mac was originally an old friend who sold it to me back in 2011, the Mac is a 2010 model. My Mac was experiencing some problems, such as when I would open safari, it would keep popping up to keychain was not set up and asking to set default. I followed the guides that people posted in the discussion section and it still didn't work as well as itunes and most apps did not want to open properly and took a while to access. The warrenty on my mac is obviously well over expired and didn't want to go pay money to find out that it needed to be "rebooted", so I decided to do it my self.
I shut off the computer and held down option key as stated in the user manual, and followed the process. I went to utility disc and erased the Mac HD and then when I went to the reinstall OS X Mountain Lion button, it wouldn't let me and that is when I realized it wasn't purchased on this account. There is an option that says "reinstall OS X Mountain Lion". Does that mean I just need to repurchase the OS X Mountain Lion? I did not know I would need to purchase Snow Leopard or Lion. This is the first time I am doing this as well. If i do need to purchase Snow Leopard or Lion, how will I do this?
