Do i need to convert my usb with windows 8.1 to read as a disc to bootcamp

I created installation media with our pc on my flash drive containing windows 8.1, and it says "The installer disc could not be found" when i try to bootcamp it.

Can you provide a link where you have read it? MacRumours has a thread, but it requires VMware Fusion Trial version (i think a link has been posted by MatRojas - http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=20584499#post20584499 ).
You can try to create a partition by hand, and try it.

When I restart my computer and hold the option key after creating a bootable usb with windows 7 and partitioning only the original partition shows up. Not the windows one or the bootable usb.

     Okay so first things first this isn't the newest macbook pro. When I open about my mac and go to system report it says it is a Macbook Pro 3,1 and the Boot Rom Version say MBP31.0070.B07. Originally when starting up Boot Camp Assistant there where only two options, the "create windows 7 bootable usb" was not there at all. So after some editing and helpful tutorials I was able to get the option show up and created a bootable usb with windows 7 and downloaded the support software onto a separate flash drive. Finally I did the last step and created a second partition for windows. Once the process is complete my computer automatically restarts.
     This is where the problem is. Once my computer makes the booting up sound it doesn't load up windows it gets stuck on a apple logo as if it's trying to reastart normally and can't. So I shut down and this time I hold down the option key during start up. It brings up the main partition and some recovery thing but no windows partiton and no bootable usb.
     I forgot to mention that I am running OS X 10.9.3. Okay any body want to help me out? Iv'e been at this for hours and can't get an inch closer to having windows. Please and thank you!

The only known way to make it work on an external drive is by first installing Windows onto an internal drive, then cloning the install to an external Thunderbolt drive. Thunderbolt is seen as an extension of the internal bus, so Windows doesn't see it as an external device.

How to convert an ipod with Windows software installed to Mac operation

I have a 20MB ipod which has windows software on it. It is very hard to load songs onto as I can only see the ICON on the desktop and not in itunes and this way they don't seem to properly mount! I have a 12" ibook that I connect it to. I can't seem to follow how one is supposed to wipe the Windows OS (or whatever) off the ipod and install the Mac one ?!?!? Am I trying to do the impossible? A step-by-step answer would be soooooo appreciated.

Information on the iPod not appearing in iTunes is available in this article. To reformat the iPod for Mac, open a new Finder window and click the Applications icon in the sidebar; from here, open Utilities and then iPod Software Updater. Locate the most recent version of the iPod updater inside, open it, and click the Restore button with the iPod connected. Doing this will change the iPod into the Mac format and erase everything currently on it.

Mac Mini Server boot from USB with windows keyboard

So. I formated my mac mini, prepared a OSX usb drive and now I cant get the machine to boot to the USB drive...I have a windows keyboard plugged into the usb and there is no option key... (I also have a mac bluetooth keyboard that is paired to another mini but I have no idea how to pair it to this one prior to boot sequence....ANy help...Im boggled-first time as a mac user.

To format an iPod to a different OS tpye, all you ned to do is restore the iPod in iTunes : Restoring your iPod to factroy settings
If your iPod is in Windows format, you can connect and sync it on a Mac computer, but you can't update the iPod's firmware unless it is formatted to a Mac, though.

Cannot save form with Windows Vista and Adobe Reader 8

I have many forms created with Adobe Livecycle Designer 8. Users who have upgraded to Windows Vista can no longer save these forms. Any ideas?

I don't have Vista, but in XP I have found deleting the printer driver
and re-installing sometimes works.

Opens pdf with windows media not acrobat reader

When I try to read PDF files, windows media opens not Acrobat reader, although I have checked acrobat reader to open these files.

fwiw - A combination of Acrobat / Adobe Reader that are not the same release is not recommended/supported by Adobe.
As long as you have to use Acrobat 9 it'd be best to stay with Adobe Reader 9.
Good to know is that the Acrobat 9.x product family passed into "End of Support" mid-year 2013 and is not compatible with contemporary OSs.

Restore image failure with Windows 7 and 10.3.2 boot disc

I'm working on a sysprepped Windows 7 image. I took an image to a USB hard drive using ntfs-3g just before running sysprep then another afterward. I found some issues in the image so I reloaded the image taken before sysprep. Message on screen is Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause... Status 0xc0000225, the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
This is the same computer that the image was created on - the sysprepped image installed just fine on another PC. Anyone run into this before?

Other information that might be useful - Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit. HP 500B MT computer, Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM. The imaging disc is the 10.3.2 January 2011 update.

I realize this is probably a VERY old topic because I'm the last human on earth to get around to wanting to digitize old vhs cam tapes....but hoping someone here can give me some good recommendations. I have a nice (but OLD) JVC vhs-compact camcorder. It has mono audio out & video out rca jacks. Need a converter to USB I assume to import to my white macbook. These are old family home movies. I *don't want to spend $100 on a converter box (if i can help it)... I've seen things on amazon.com for 1/2 that price or less, but again, want some recommendations from the collective wisdom of mac users.

If you have the better white macbook with FireWire, use the FireWire port. When I switched from a USB converter to a Firewire converter (Canopus) I got better results. Many others have reported a similar experience.
If you have no FireWire port on your Mac, follow AppleMan's advice above.

I've played around with countless other conversion systems, ranging in price from $79 to $399. Short verison, this is the ONLY unit to own. No dropped frames at all, even with questionable quality tapes, no jitter, great color, excellent sound quality. Zero setup with iMovie 06 and iDVD 08/09.
This is a prosumer deck. The time code function is alone worth the price if you have old analog footage. Absolutely NO "Out Of Sync" audio.
ADVC300 is for anyone who wants to do editing and is concerned about quality of color and speed, for the novice it is an incredible gizmo that will restore VHS tapes to a state close to the original fixing midtones, highlights and shadows on the fly. Not only can you simply convert analog to digital you can actually manipulate the signal going in (if you want to).
A bit pricey bit it WORKS.
The program that comes with the ADVC300 has some nice filters that can improve video and audio of the source material.
I would use iMovie 06 with iDVD 08/09, why?
  iMovie 08/09 uses 'single field processing' meaning every other horizontal line of the video is thrown out, which reduces the sharpness of the footage. iMovie 06 uses ALL of the image to form the video.   If your primary workflow is editing DV clips and making DVDs, iMovie '06 is better suited. Your movie will arrive at iDVD in DV format, which is an ideal match for making a DVD: same resolution, same pixels aspect ratio, and original quality. If you share your movie from iMovie '08 / 09, it gets re-rendered at 640x480 or less, and then iDVD upscales it back to 720x480. The end result is obviously not as good. 
 iMovie 06 and iDVD 08/09 is a 100% "lossless" combination and my DVD's look like they came from Hollywood!

Apple Windows drivers on USB, but Windows says I need to format USB to use it

I set up a 16GB USB drive as my Mountain Lion install disk via the Mountain Lion Installer app.   I ran BootCamp and had it download and put the Windows drivers also onto the USB stick.
Installed Windows and got to the part where it says I have no drivers.
So when I now put in the USB drive to install the drivers, Windows is saying "You need to format the disk in drive E: before you can use it. Do you want to format it?"    ...but that's where the drivers are.
How was the USB stick formatted originally? I don't know, presumably with whatever the default from Disk Utility was when I wiped it.
Ay suggestions?
(e.g....reformat the USB with Windows, reboot into OS X (assuming that works), then have Boot Camp Assistant re-put the Windows drivers on the USB, then reboot into Windows, etc?   Trying that now.)

The drive must be formatted as FAT32, you can do that on Windows or OSX. Then put the drivers back on it, boot to Windows and install them.

Can't dual boot windows 7 with windows 8 on Thinkpad edge S430

I am desperately trying to install windows 7 from USB.
I need it to dual boot with windows 8.
I obtained a windows 7 iso from MSDNAA: (en_windows_7_professional_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_676939.iso)
I made a bootable UEFI USB with rufus on a Sandisk U3 Cruzer (8GB)
Now in BIOS I disabled secure boot but I can't select my USB, I can select it, press enter, the screen flickers but jumps back to the first entry in the boot list.
The USB is displayed without "UEFI:" in front.
Selecting "legacy" in boot mode works but I can't install windows 7, the setup shows al the partitions but says: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is not of the GPT partition style".
That's it, I just can't install windows 7...

Ok got it working:
a U3 Cruzer is NOT a good bootable USB!
csm should be enabled in BIOS.
secure boot should be DISABLED in BIOS.
(My problem was csm and the bad USB)

Using traditional nidaq with windows 98

I have an e series DAQ and I want to use it with Windows 98. The software that came with the board (NIDAQ7) will only install on Windows 2000/NT/XP. Can I get hold of an earler version of NIDAQ so I can avoid changing my operating system?
