Do I need to deauthorize, before authorizing a new PC?

You should, however, deauthorize a computer you won't be using any longer, or on which you need to reinstall the OS. That helps keep an authorization from being used up unnecessarily.

  • Need to deauthorize before upgrading OS?

I have pre-ordered Leopard and will be doing an erase install.
Do I need to de-authorize my computer in my iTunes account prior to upgrading so I don't loose one of the five computers?
    Thanks.

What other steps are needed when doing an erase & install?
So far I have changed my itunes music folder to an external drive using the preferences in iTunes and after that I performed a "consolidate". Now my whole iTunes library is on an external drive.
Besides the music library I was planning on backing up the two database files (itunes library.itl & itunes music library.xml) and overwriting the leopard files with these. Are there any other important files? Will this work? I want to preserve playlists, artwork, etc.
    Thanks,

  • Need Photoshop advice before buying a new computer

    Hi Folks ....
My computer is 6 years old.  I'm starting to get the "blue screen of death" periodically so I am buying a new computer.
    I currently own Photoshop CS2.
    Here are my options.
I can buy a new computer and make sure I have Windows 7 Ultimate so I can use CS2 on it (in XP mode).
Or I can buy a new computer without Windows 7 Ultimate and upgrade to CS5.
My real question is, when I buy a new computer, is it okay for it to have integrated graphics?
Will Photoshop run okay on ingrated graphics, or should a buy a machine that comes with a graphics card installed?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards and many thanks,
    Mark

That's ggod news that I can run CS2 on Windows 7.
Yes, it will be a desktop PC so I will make sure I configure my new PC with a graphics card.
    Thank you.

  • 2 of my authorized computewrs have crashed and burned. Need to deauthorize them before adding the new computer, as well as one of then was my main itunes computer. how do i move everything

2 of my computers have crashed and burned in the last week. One of them was my main computer for itunes. i have 2 issues:
    1) i need to deauthorize the other 2 computers in order to authorize my new one.
2)how do i move all of my music etc to the new computer?
    thank you

Thanks much, that's very helpful for step one (getting old phone onto new phone).  Very clear.
However, I still have the problem of moving to the new computer.  How do I move the sync to the new computer after the new phone is set up?

  • I need to deauthorize all of my computers before adding my new one.  will my library remain intact and will i need to simply plug my ipod touch back in to the pc?  thx

i need to deauthorize all of my computers before adding my new one.  will my library remain intact and will i need to simply plug my ipod touch back in to the pc?  thx

    1. The library will remain as is. Back it up anyway.
    2. Authorize that computer individually before connecting the iPod touch to it.

  • Got an error message that said Need to deauthorize aubible account.

I tried to play a song that i have played 518 times and now its saying i need to deauthorize an account. but i have only played that song on one computer. i dont know why its saying that and don't know what to do.

it's telling me that i have 5 computers authorized. the reason why i'm confused is because i switched my harddrive from my powerbook g4 to my boyfriends computer which is exactly the same as mine (our college gave everyone the same laptop). the reason i switched is because my cd-rom drive no longer worked. so i thought if i switched the harddrives i wouldnt have any problems. could this affect itunes? because unfortunately there is no way for me to get into my old laptop bc the harddrive we put in there is fried. ALSO i have only had 2 computers in my life with itunes, so i dont even see why this third computer would be a problem.
im just wondering if there is a way to deactivate a computer without having to be on it. i hope i'm making sense!! lol!!

  • Reformatting computer - do I need to deauthorize?

    Hi all,
I will have to reload Windows XP Home on my daughter's computer from scratch (using the backup/reformat disks). All of my daughter's documents, including the My Music folder will be temporarily saved on another computer, and then returned to the reformatted computer.
Do I need to perform a deauthorization on the iTunes music before I save them off in order for them to work on the newly formatted computer after I return them? I am not concerned with the music working on the backup computer.
    Thanks!

Its always best to deauthorize before this so you

Hi - I'm not sure I understand. They're going back to the same computer, it's just that it will have a refreshed OS. Will iTunes think that it's a different computer?
    Thanks!

  • Do I need to Deauthorize CS5?

The hard drive in my iMac has been recalled by Apple and is going to be replaced. Do I need to deauthorize my CS5 software before it's replaced? I'm planning on restoring all my software from a backup.

Yes, the best practice is to deauthorize your CS5 before you have your hard drive replaced. That way the Adobe system sees that you have 0 computers currently activated. When you go to re-install it will then go through smoothly.

How do I deauthorize a co mputer that ceashed? I cannot access it but I need to deauthorize it. Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't de-authorise just the computers you no longer have access to.
Your only option is to de-authorise all your computers and then re-authorise those you wish to be authorised. You can do this by logging into your account settings in iTunes on your computer (Store > View My ID) and selecting the option to de-authorise all.
Please note however, you are only permitted to do this once in each 12 month period, therefore you would be better de-authorising your computers before you lose access to them. you can do this from the 'Store' menu in iTunes.

  • Need to Deauthorize Computers

I just reformatted my computer and put all of my songs back on and now I can't listen to them on this computer. It says I have 5 authorized and it won't let me deauthroize them again becaused I did it once already. I hope there is a way around this because I need my music! Please help!

I have an issue with Deauthorizing all computers. I try to play a song that has been downloaded from ITunes and it comes up to say that I have 5 computers authroized and need to deauthorize one or all of them. I went to try to "Deauthorize all" but there was no button for it. I then read in the discussion board that you have to really have 5 computers authorized for thet button to appear. I checked my account and it lists that I have 2 computers authorized. If I only have 2 computers authorized why is it not allowing the music to be played on a third, fourth or fifth computer?

  • Do I need to Deauthorize??

I finally managed to get my library transferred to my new Vista, and the computer recognizes my ipod. Now the problem is that I can't get it to sync on the new computer (it does recharge). Under FILE tab, the SYNC IPOD option is grayed out. I've also tried SYNC button on device screen. My old computer is still up and running with iTunes but I will be getting rid of it once I've tied up all the loose ends. I'm guessing that I need to deauthorize the old one. Does that sound right? I checked my acct and it shows 2 authorized computers. It's asking for Audible Acct username and password. I put in my Apple ID and password, but apparently it needs something different. I don't remember putting anything else in. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Not sure I understand what you're referring to in your first instruction, "try dragging the content onto the iPod in the iTunes source list." Can you please clarify?
If I set it back to automatic mode, will this resolve my problem and allow it to sync again? When I click to uncheck the manual mode, I get this msg:
"Are you sure you do not want to manually manage music on your iPod? All existing content on the iPod will be replaced with content from your iTunes library."
Is that what I need to do? I'm a little apprehensive about wiping it out, but since it's in my library, maybe it's safe to do.
    Thanks again.

  • Have i-Tones account that has reached 5 computer limit. Need to "deauthorize" other computers but can't because had to turn into my company when I retired.  What do I do??

Have i-Tones account have reached 5 computer limit. Need to "deauthorize" other computers but can't because I had to turn into my company when I retired. What do I do??

    I quote:
To deauthorize all computers associated with your account
If you find you have reached 5 authorizations, you can reset your authorization count by clicking Deauthorize All in the Account Information screen.
Click iTunes Store in the menu on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than 5 authorized computers, or if you have used this option within the last 12 months. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact the iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww/).
Once you have done this you can re-authorize the computers you need to.

You can create a PDF preview of your book, see this link:

The PDF will be too large to email to your parents - copy it to a USB stick or burn it as CD or DVD and send it as a letter.  Or upload it to a server for download, your Dropbox, etc.
