It's the 5th gen iPod touch and each song has the cloud symbol next to it that I can tap to download from the cloud onto my iPod but I don't want to have to do that for over 1000 songs so how can I do this all at once? Need help restoring contacts from the cloud on my iPhone 4s.

Before I upgrade to IOS 6, I would like to restore my phone and start fresh. I've been backing up my iPhone with each upgrade I get every year and running off the same backup. I continue to get weird issues that I think could be solved by starting from scratch. The only data I want carried over are my contacts. Is it possible to get my contacts back on my phone without restoring from a backup? I wasn't quite sure how the Contacts work via the cloud, and I'm afraid to restore my phone without knowing this first. Thanks!

Sorry. Maybe I didnt explain my question properly. When I go under ICloud on my phone, I have an option to sync my contacts. Currently, I have the Contacts set to on. If I completely restore my phone and then sign in with my apple ID, will I be able to get my contacts back on my phone? From what I've been told in the past, the only way to get contacts back on your phone, is to restore from a backup via ITunes on your PC. I'm hoping that's changed.

Your post is kind of confusing. You have a new phone and don't have a phone to transfer to?? With the phone that died. If that phone was using Verizon Cloud to back up. Then when you activating Verizon Cloud on the new phone, one of the steps would ask, do you want to transfer from old phone to new phone?
If you had nothing backed up with Verizon Cloud on the old phone there would be nothing to restore to the new phone.
When activating Verizon Cloud on the new phone, only what is currently showing on the new phone will be able to be backed up, along with what is added in the future.

Well sort of Outlook Express. Outlook Express uses the windows built in Windows Address Book (found in Accessories). And you can sync with the Windows Address Book (as I do).

Make sure Contacts is selected in System Preferences > iCloud. That should sync your contacts on your Mac automatically.

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value). You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads
Content imported from your CDs will have to imported again
The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these). What information are you referring to? You may mean restoring an iCloud backup from a previous device. Or you may mean adding iCloud calendars, contacts, etc. to your iPhone.
In the former case (restoring a backup), the setup assistant should walk you through that process.
In the latter case (adding contacts, etc.), simply set up your iPhone as an iCloud device in Settings > iCloud.

"The cloud" just means "her account on a server somewhere." Since you're asking how to get her photos out of the cloud, the next question is, which cloud storage service was she backing up her photos to? Apple iCloud? Google Photos? Dropbox? Flickr?
Once you know which service she was using, all that should be needed is to log into that account on her new phone. For iCloud, she would log in from the Settings app and then turn on the Photos switch; for non-Apple cloud photo backup she probably needs to download that service's app like the Google app or the Dropbox app. Once she is logged in to the service she was using, her photos should be accessible and downloadable.

That's fine. With cloud services, the server is the central location and the device doesn't matter; any compatible device (Mac, PC, phone, tablet etc.) can upload or download files with the cloud server.

Do those tracks still show on the album in the store ? If not then the rights-holder must have removed them, in which case you won't be able to redownload them, you will have to copy them back from your backup of your downloads/library. You can still run CS5 if you have Cloud versions installed.

How to download songs from the cloud to my itunes library

I have already began the process of downloading songs from the cloud onto my itunes library. My internet decided to rest itself so once i reconnected to the internet I had to pause all downloads. I am now trying to finish the process of downloading the songs and itunes has been processing the file of 3 songs for the past hour. Is there anyway I can fix this?

I doubt the first generation ATV supports iCloud.
iCloud was introduced long after the first ATV and there have been no more updates for the first ATV.
