Do I need to fully charge my ipod to restore settings on iTunes 7.1?

I just received my 3rd generation ipod nano and I get an error message when I hook it up that the ipod cannot be restored an unknown error occurred (1413. Is this because I have to fully charge it 5 hours like the rep at apple told me or is it because it is MAC formatted and I'm on Windows XP? I'm not too computer/tech savvy so someone please help and explain it to me! Thanks!

Turn it off while you are not using it. The switch is available in the Control Center.

I fully charge my iPod shuffle but the charge only lasts at least five hours , what I supposed to do?
So i need to charge it every day

How old is it?  If it's brand new, the tech specs says it should last "Up to 15 hours of audio playback when fully charged."

If it is well-used and/or older, the battery capacity will diminish over time.

  • Fully charged the ipod works for 2 mins, and then shuts down, why?!

Fully charged the ipod works for 2 mins, gives the battery warning and then shuts down. I took it to an apple store, they said battery is fine, restored ipod to original settings and it still wont work! Help!

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. This time be more persistent.

  • My Iphone 3gs wont charge, turn on, or restore itself in Itunes, but the apple logo still appears when I hold the sleep botton.  How can I make my Iphone work????

My Iphone 3gs wont charge, turn on, or restore itself in Itunes, but the apple logo still appears when I hold the sleep botton.  How can I make my Iphone work????  I know it is not dead because I can see the apple logo on, and every time I connect it to a USB port to charge, or a wall charger, the battery appears with a bit of red. Still, it wont turn on.  It's been like this for three days now and I haven't stopped charging it.  IT just WONT charge?  Any tips I can use to solve the issue?

    Hello estebie67,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like the iPhone is experiencing issues upon startup, and may not be loading the firmware or operating system correctly. If you have not already done so, try resetting the iPhone while connected to power:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the above does not resolve your issue, it will be best to restore the iPhone in recovery mode:
iOS: Unable to update or restore

    Thanks,

  • I need help with charging my ipod nano!!!!

Ok when I go to charge my ipod nano it says it's already charged but when I take it off the charger and try to listen to music it say battery has no energy battery drained. So if someone can please try to help me get it to work.

I disagree. Don't assume that it needs to be replaced without first testing it.

no problem.....forums are the only place to find help these days. the owner manual is 208 pages of some very basic stuff. and most of the customer service reps (vzn and htc) can't answer specific questions....especially if they've never even played around with one. in your package there's a link to download the owners manual. i downloaded it to the phone so i can look up stuff whenever i want. the manual is not that helpful, but i have found a few different/easier ways of doing what i want. i also called the 800 # that's in there to order a hard copy. it's free, and came in a few days. it's like a small text book....lol. it seems like many reps answer every ? with "did you try a hard reset?" many times they don't bother to tell you that if you've spent days customizing the phone....that will all disappear. sometimes a soft reset will fix something, and sometimes just changing a setting will do it, so i hate to see peolpe have to start from scratch to fix something that could have been easier. have fun.

  • My 1st generation ipad won't power up. It flickers but then no display. It is fully charged and I have restored to factory settings

The ipad originally lost half of the display on the screen and now won't display at all, other than a slight flicker when you first try to turn on. I have been able to back up the contents and have restored to factory settings. The battery is fully charged. There is about 20gb of memory space available. Please can anyone help in diagnosing the problem?

The screen has probalby died. Or the backlight.
You can look into getting it fixed but you may be at the point of comparing investing to fix an older device or putting that money towards something newer that will have a longer life.

When I connecting in to laptop (Windows XP)..iTute showing following pop up window .. "iTune has detected iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes" (iTune version: 10.7.0.21).

    Please help me through.
    Cheers;

Try changing the iPod's drive letter as described in this Apple support document.
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Does the iPod Shuffle (2nd Gen) need to be fully charged...

Does the iPod Shuffle (2nd gen) need to be fully charged (green light) to appear in my iTunes. I just bought one on eBay... not sure if it works. It's plugged into the USB port and the light is orange (solid, not blinking).
Should I expect it to turn green before it will show up as a Device in my iTunes?

So, the issue on this one was that I was not plugged directly into my computer - I was using a usb hub. Once I removed the hub and put the ipod shuffle (2nd G) directly into my hard drive it opened up iTunes and I was able to synch. It never did show a green light, until I unplugged it and put the ear buds in, turned on the "on" switch and there was a green light. I hope this helps someone else.

  • Ipod fully charged then says it is dead whats wrong?

I fully charge my ipod then when i use it dies just like that. And i just got it. What do you think the problem is??

Depends on how early you need it dealt with, really.
If you do decide to go to the Apple Store, be sure to check if there are Genius Bar appointments available using the Apple Website's built-in store locator. If there's on available, go for it! I wouldn't recommend going without an appointment; if there are no spaces available and you just show up, there's a chance you could end up going for nothing.
Alternatively, sometimes AppleCare will opt to set up replacement units via their mail-in process, which can actually be completed without you having to give up an iPod for any real amount of time. If you have the full value of the iPod on your credit card, you can sometimes set up to have a new one mailed to you with just a hold of the iPod's value. Apple pays for shipping in most cases, and you would just send your defective one back in the box it came in.
No problem, just some food for thought!

  • My iPod will no longer turn on after I fully charged it. HELP!

I knew I should have never trusted Apple with personal files. I put all of my pictures from my digital camera (1,800 of them) on the ipod for "safe" keeping. Now my ipod will no longer turn on. I fully charged the ipod until the "charged" icon appeared. Then I disconnected it. A couple hours later I tried to turn it on and it no longer turns on. I've had this iPod for about 6 months and I'm pretty sure it's not a dead battery. It's been very good with me. The hold switch is NOT activated. I went through all of the common sense troubleshooting steps. I tried to reset the ipod. I tried recharging it on AC power. I tried reconnecting it via USB on computer. I tried the updater, which doesn't work b/c ipod won't turn on. I've also tried hitting it...jk. I also have 10,330 songs on here. This is my life on my ipod. I can't afford to lose this info. 60GB gone. Is there anything else I can do to fix this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

  • My ipod is fully charged but it dies anyway

Recently in the last week or two after fully charging my iPod on a power source (not my computer), I'll go out to use it and within 5 minutes it will say, "Low battery source. Please plug iPod into power source." I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and if so what they did to fix it? I haven't even had this iPod for a year yet and so I'm wondering if this is a battery problem or something else. This happened RIGHT after I used the most recent iPod updater. Thanks for any help.
