Do I need to keep internet explorer

I hate internet explorer. Can I delete it from my computer. It is taking up space (limited space) and it keeps crashing?

@the-edmeister, there is no use of removing a newer version when you can only get an old version out of it.
And now to get max. HDD space from your old HDD.
Delete all files in the this folder (WARNING: Do not delete the folder itself. Just it's contents.)
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
This can free up much space if you installed some windows updates recently.
If you do not uninstall windows updates, then you can free even more space.
Just follow the instructions on this website-

Copy the VB code on the website to Notepad and click save. While naming the file, be sure SURE the file name is "RemoveWindowsUninstall.vbs" (" symbol INCLUDED) when in the Save Dialog.

There is no way. IE has not been available for the Mac for years now.
Your only option is to install native Windows and use that - either through a bootcamp dual-boot scenario, or use a virtual machine to run windows in (eg. Parallels or VMWare Fusion). Either way, you will need a full retail install disk for Windows.
P.S. the last version of IE for Mac was for PPC machines, and it was discontinued in 2003.

No hay, no ha habido y probablemente nunca habra Internet Explorer que corra nativo en iOS en iPads/iPods/iPhones. Hubo una version para OS X, pero Microsoft dejo de actualizarla y soportarla desde el 2002. Y al haber sacado su marca propia de tabletas, la Surface, MS ya no tiene aliciente para tener IE en la tableta de la competencia.
Se puede hacer una especie de "chachuyo" y tener IE indirectamente en un iPad. A traves del producto Citrix, la tableta se vuelve una "pantalla remota" de un servidor Windows, donde hay el genuino IE. Parallels acaba de sacar un producto con funcionalidad similar. Pero son muy caros y requieren ademas tener la infraestructura de la PC a donde se comunica la iPad.
Ya probaste con otros navegadores ademas del Safari para ver si despliega la pagina? Veo al menos 6 diferentes navegadores alternativos para la iPad, como Opera, Mercury, Chrome, etc.

There hasn't been an IE that would work on a Mac since 2002. The only way to use IE today is to run Windows on your Mac:
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

Yes you can keep IE as your default browser when installing Firefox, just answer NO when Firefox asks if you want to set it as the default browser.
What's that about the iPad? You can't install either IE or Firefox in the iPad, neither has a version for iOS.

i have been fooling around trying to get this military website to work properly with no luck. after contact the help line for the website they told me it is only compatible with internet explorer. researching boot camp i purchased an external hardrive to partition for windows under the impression that that was one of the reasons why. i do not have a windows disk and i need to run IE. i tryed masking safari in the develop toolbar but IE isnt highlighted therefore i cant attemp that way. please help....

I don't know if this still works with the new version if Safari but it's worth a try.
Launch Safari. From the Safari menu bar top of your screen click Safari. From the drop down menu click Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now from the Safari menu bar again, click Develop > User Agent
Try IE 7, 8, or 9.

I noticed that when I went to use Internet Explorer a few weeks ago it would say it stopped running. I thought that it was just a fluke. But when I try to download things in my MTC program they will start to download then just stop.MTC needs Internet Explorer 7 to work. When you originally downloaded the Yosemite installer it was sent to your Applications folder, it did it's thing and then deleted itself. In order to avoid that, you'd need to quit the installer before running it, copy it to a different location and then start it again to actually run the upgrade. So you'll have to download the Yosemite installer again to install it on an external.

How to uninstall Java (JRE MSI) while keeping Internet Explorer open?

I have a situation where I need to have the ability to uninstall Java (currently JRE 1.7 Update 75, but could really be any version in the future). We are using the JRE MSI. I know how to uninstall it silently just fine, but the gotcha problem comes in that we have thousands of computers and some of them may have IE running during the uninstall.
Now normally I would just use taskkill.exe to terminate IE ahead of time then run Java uninstall. However, we are being told for the uninstall, this isn't an option even if we notify the customers about IE closing. So I'm looking for a command line way to uninstall Java, but allow it to be successfully uninstalled if IE is running (If a reboot is required after the fact, that is fine).
I have tried several things without success already:
MSIRESTARTMANAGERCONTROL=Enable (And Disable)
IEOPEN=1
IERESTART=1
In every case, I keep getting a Java Window that reads the below:
If I choose Later, then it will continue upon the next restart of the computer, which would be fine, except there doesn't seem to be a way to choose this option using the command line or a property??
I would be even be happy to trick Java into thinking it isn't being used currently even if the browser is open, but I can't seem to figure out how Java knows it is being used or not currently used.

You could try installing the Nightly Tester tools add-on to force compatibility. You could also try looking at some of the other add-ons available that have similar functions.

I used Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit for finding all SQL server instances a while ago.
Now I need to find filtered IE versions on AD computers. I am pretty sure that MAPT could help to accomplish that.

2. I didn't install it yet... in case of YES in 1 could somebody please provide steps for filtering IE only in the GUI.
