Do I need to purchase a Blu Ray player?

Recently purchased a Monster Powernet 200.  One is plugged into my modem, the HDTV is plugged into the other Monster.  I want to stream video from my computer
but can't seem to get it to work.  Do I need to plug the Blu Ray into the monster before I can stream video from my computer?

What streaming features does your HDTV support?  We can't answer this without such information.

  • Insufficient disk space on Blu Ray player

I just purchased a Blu Ray player (Sony Model: BDP-S470) which I really like, however, when I try to use some of the internet features when watching a disk I get an error message that says not enough drive space.  Does that mean I need a different player?  Can I use a thumb drive to expand the space available?
    Solved!

Sorry, it wasn't meant to be snarky.  I meant that since the unit was new, you probably still have the manual. It is usually a good place to start, and can answer your question better than I can.

  • Timecapsule with Blue Ray Player

I purchased a Blue Ray Player with a wireless W-Lan and I'm trying to connect it to my timecapsule via USB and is not working, any other solution besides using an ethernet cable from one room to the other (I do not want to do it this way).. Any other solution?? Would an Airport Extreme help?

That's not going to work. Uses for the USB port of Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express

An Airport Extreme can be used as a wireless bridge, but that's overkill. I'd use a less expensive Express.

  • I'm in the process of creating a WiFi network from my IMac to my LG HDTV.  I am incorporating a LG WiFi capable Blu-ray player and will purchase an Apple Express or Apple Extreme router. I need some advise on using this aquipment.

I need help in determining the best way to create a WiFi network from my IMAC to a WiFi capable LG Blu-Ray player that will connect to my LG HDTV.  Since I will only need one network I need to know which is the best Apple Airport router to use (Express or Extreme).  What is the correct way to connect these units?  It seem self explanitory, but I'm checking my thinking.  My HDTV is about 20' from where the airport router will be installed with a wall between them.  Has anyone created this network?  Is this the best way to create a WiFi network?

  • HP ENVY 700-074 Desktop - what graphics card do I need to install to use a blu ray player?

I purchased an external blu ray player - "LG 14x external blu-ray/dvd writer super multi blue be14".  For some reason I thought my system was compatible.  However, it's not - apparently the Intel(R) 4600 won't work.  What graphics card would I need to install to allow using this blu-ray device?  What else do I need to know?

Ah, I should add, the Blu ray player's support site (for Cyberlink) suggested a pile of different drivers - 30 or 40, but didn't offer any specifics regarding my particular system. What I really need to know is what would be the best option for my particular system.

  • I purchased a blu-ray of The Hunger Games and it came with a code for a digital copy. I redeemed the code on iTunes but the download has been continuing for 2 weeks now and it never finishes! The time just keeps going up. Never an issue in the past.

I purchased the blu-ray of The Hunger Games and it came with a code to redeem for a digital copy. I redeemed the code in iTunes and the movie downloaded fine, but the "EXTRAS" have been downloading for 2 weeks! Everytime I launch iTunes it starts the download again and the counter keeps going UP, at one point it said it would take 3 weeks. I have paused and restarted the download, I have deleted the download, nothing works to finish or stop this download! Does anyone have a clue what's up?

ps when syncing it jumps through steps 1 - 4 real fast, i seem to remeber iphone showing the number of tracks transferring and names, but i see nothing? then it sits on 5 saying "waiting for changes to be applied"

  • Will I need to buy a digital tuner if I buy a blu ray player?

I was looking at the blu ray DVD players and noticed that some came with a digital tuner and some without. Will I have to buy it separate if it does not come with one or will my HDTV provide that?

I was comparing an LG blue ray player BD390 and a Sony Blue ray player BDP S560, out to the side listed under features was Digital tuner; The LG said yes and the Sony said no. Both were listed around 250$ I was wanting to know if I need this? Do I have this covered by having an HDTV? Why does a blue ray player need this? The reason I asked is to understand the digital tuner issue a little better. Thanks for your replies.

  • Satellite L850 - need to change the ODD to Blu-Ray player

    Hi,
My wife wants to use her laptop L850 to watch movies.
But most of our videos at home are Blu-Ray format.
Can I change the DVD player for a Blu-Ray player.
If yes which model or specifications should I look for ?
And will I need new drivers that may or not be easily available ?
We are taking the train in two weeks, so if someone can help me,
I would have time to do the change before we travel.

    Hi
I think the information about the compatible optical disk drives as well as blu-ray players can be found in user manual.

    Panasonic Blu-ray drive UJ160
    Toshiba Blu-ray SN-506AF
    Toshiba Blu-ray TS-LB23D

    Hope this helps

  • Do I need to download a DNLA server to play contents of my iMac on my TV through a blue ray player?

Do I need to download a DNLA server to play contents of my imac on my TV through a blue ray player?  I have Mountain Lion.

No, but if you want to do this wirelessly or as Apple calls it, AirPlay, then you need a compatible iMac and an Apple TV or other compatible AirPlay device.
Otherwise you can connect the two with a suitable cable.

  • I need to send encoded Blu Ray File to be Burned somewhere else?

Usually I click burn Blu ray in Final Cut’s share feature and I run it all the way through to create disc.
Now I would like to send the encoded file to get burnt somewhere else.
What would be the best recommended way to do this and keep the menu intact and what would they need to burn the Blu Ray disk, they have Final Cut Studio as well.
    Thank you.

    Deyson wrote:
On their end, will they need to just drag and drop to do a burn?
I would imagine so, but I've never done so I'm not sure. You have a blu-ray burner right? Try it out. make an image and then try to burn it.
    According to http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/burn_br_mac_superdrivestone.html
+If you select 'Hard Drive (Blu-ray)' and create a Disk Image, you will only be able to burn this Disk Image to a Blu-ray disc using a Blu-ray burner.+ This tutorial is how to burn a AVCHD disc with a DVD burner.

  • HT3209 Purchased a blu ray with a code to get a digital says it is invalid

I recently purchased a Blu Ray that came with code to get a free digital copy of the movie, when I typed in the code it said it was invalid

I am assuming the reason it is not compatible with my i pod is because it is a HD copy of the film.
    That is correct.
Head to the iTunes Store, click the Purchased link on the right, and then select Movies and remove the tick mark next to Download HD when available.  You might be able to download the SD version now from under this same page. Any luck there?

Five years ago our family purchased at Costco this Bravia TV (KDL46EX621) and a Blue Ray player. While we had less expensive options, we decided to go with Sony because of the quality it represents. We are light TV users, don't even have cable tv. The TV has remained in the same spot since we have had it. Two years after the purchase, we started having trouble turning on the tv. So we figured out that we could turn it on by unplugging the unit and plugging back on. It was a hassle and disappointing to have to do that with such a reputable brand tv. About three months ago the unplugging and plugging routine did not work so we took it to a repair shop. I just heard back from the repair shop that they cannot fix the tv because the replacement part is not available. The first part that they tried was defective. I've wonder if this is a factory defect. The Repair shop will refund the $285 that I had paid for the repair. Not being able to fix my $1000 tv adds insult to injury. Especially when I call Sony's technical support and their recommendation is that I purchase another tv!!! Wow! That is poor customer service. I can tell you, if I have to purchase a new tv, unless you all can help me with this, it will NOT be a Sony. I'm not one to complain and write negative consumer reports, but in this case I really think it may merrit one. Anyway, today I will take my tv to a Sony authorized repair shop in San Antonio (Consumer Electronics). How can you make up for all the hassle? Even though I realize the unit is no longer under warranty I would appreciate if Sony would follow this case to make sure the tv can get fixed. It would be even nicer if you could cover the repair costs or simply replace my unit to a good working one.
