Hey guys,
My small company wants to publish all their workbooks and materials on apps and sell them.
I have an acrobat acct, Indesign CS5.5 and was wondering, in order to sell these folios and sell them as apps, do I need to purchase DPS??
or is there other ways?? It seems very expensive.

I'd suggest getting some advertisers to pick up the slack, otherwise you're stuck spending over 11K. The other option is signing up for a free Acrobat account, but you can only distribute one folio at a time, which I could see working if you're distributing some internal collateral. That's my $.02.

Last week I purchased and my credit card was charged for "Lee Daniels' The Butler". With tax, this was a $23.72 purchase. The download started but then stopped at 1 or 2 meg (out of almost 2 gig). The error give is "The license for Lee Daniels' The Butler has expired. You will need to purchase this content again."
My credit card has been charged & I just want the movie. I have tried refreshing BBW but that did not work. What else could I do to make this work.

PaulI have the same issue with The Butler, Escape, and the Last of the Mohican. I've called BlackBerry on this and they say it's a carrier issue. How is that possible? I didn't know Rogers controlled the product purchased in BlackBerry World. What needs to be done before we get some straight answers? File fraud charges???

Do I need to purchase RSA certificate?
I have an applet that I believe needs to be signed.
I am reading the HowTo of signing applets at:

The web page says there are three steps.
1) Signing tool (I shall use jarsigner)
2) RSA certificates
My question is do I need to purchase this?
if so how much does one cost?

You a get a free, generic certificate from Thawte that is intented primarily for email. The generic certificate will NOT have your name in it (it will say "Thawte Freemail Member", or something to that effect), but it will appear more trustworthy than a self-signed certificate.
You can get your real name in the certificate by going through Thawte's Web of Trust procedure (also free, most of the time). I recently did this and I was amazed at how painless it really was. It basically involves identifying yourself using drivers license, passport or whatever to 2 to 5 Web of Trust members ('notaries') in your region, for which they can award you a number of "trust points" (10 - 35). You need 50 points to become trusted, and 100 to become a notary yourself. Some charge a small fee for this, but I got mine for free, by going to just 2 other guys.
With these points in place you can request as many certificates with your name in it as you want, in various formats. I got one for my email in some Microsoft format, and one for signing code in the format described in the document I posted a link to, above. Works like a charm, and if there's a catch I have yet to discover it...
Of course, you can't do some of the advanced stuff with the certificate that you can probably do with the "paid" certificates, like setting your company name in it, or allowing others to use it using extensions or stuff like that. But for SOHO developers or people who just want to create applets that can play outside the sandbox, it works very well indeed. -

I am moving to Alice Springs, Australia, this summer from the U.S. I would like to get the new iPad to use while traveling back and forth from the U.S. to Australia, and within Australia. How can I found out if I will be able to access all the functionality of the iPad in Alice? Will I need to purchase a local plan of some sort? I have never owned an Apple product before -- I'm a newby!
Aside form the limitation of LTE to the 700MHz and 2.1GHz bands (which rules out LTE in Europe I gather, at least as it stands now) the new iPad should let you use a GSM 3g/2g/edge network anywhere. The CDMA Verizon model will only be able to use it's native CDMA radio band in the USA (that radio will be locked to Verizon), but it's international GSM radio is the same as the AT&T model.
Keep in mind though that by far the cheapest option when abroad is to take advantage of free wifi as much as possible (well, that is always the cheapest option, since it is free). I know several people who have taken their wifi-only iPads and iPad2s to Europe and said they did not find the lack of 3G really inconvenient at all as most towns had plenty of free or cheap wifi access all over the place.
And in 3 years, your iPad will be at least 2-3 generations behind, LTE will have already been replaced by 5G or whatever the next new generation of cellular ends up being named (and the "young" kids will be wondering what the heck 3G even means or meant - dang that stuff was from the olden days!), and you can pitch that ancient piece of technology and start things all over again -

I had purchased an audio book from itunes on my iPad and when I synced my iPad with my computer, my audiobook disappeared. I have already purchased this audiobook, so now I just need to know how to get it back because it is not on iPad anymore. I don't think the audiobook was backed up to icloud but I have the receipt to prove I purchased it. Is there anyway I can get it back?

If you purchased it on your ipad, then you would have to transfer it to your computer. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.

i was informed i need to purchase standard 11 or standard 12 from adobe in order to make files converted from pdf to word using the recently bought and installed adobe pdf exporter file. how/where do i do this?
Currently the Acrobat version is "XI" (no "12").
With Acrobat XI installed:
"File - Save As Other" --- from here you pick the supported file format for the export.
If a PDF has content that is the output of a scanner then that output (as is the case for All scanners' output) is a picture of text and not real text.
During an export all that can be processed is the picture. As a picture of text is not text it is understandable why Word (or other word processors) cannot edit the content.
So, for such, prior to export run Acrobat's OCR and save.
The export will be of the OCR content.
Do expect to do clean of the text, spelling, punctuation, layout etc.
This may be minor. This may be major. But, there will be some.
Adobe as some online subscription services that can take a "proper" PDF (NOT all are eh) and export to supported file formats.
Two are "ExportPDF" and "PDF Pack".

I want to install Snow Leopard Server on our MacPro(2.66) using Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server disks? I kept getting an error for backwards compatibility. Is this possible or do I need topurchase another copy of Snow Leopard Server?

I live in Chile and would like to watch movies from my MacBook to my JVC HD Television.. What cables do I need to purchase to do this?

You'll also need audio cables to the TV using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the Composite. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate audio input plugs on your TV.
If you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. -

For MS Visio (any version) only the appropriate version of Acrobat *PRO* provides PDFMaker for Visio.
For Visio 2013 specifically you must have Acrobat XI Pro (updated to at least 11.0.1).

(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

I have a new iMac that hangs at Create a Computer Account screen. Taking forever.
