Do I need to reduce the images size in pixels before upload them to M.Me?

Do I need to reduce the images size in pixels (actual size jpeg 5616 × 3744 pixels/766kb) before upload them from iPhoto to a Mobile Me Gallery?
Otherwise they will be heavy or the upload process take care of that?
It would be nice that iPhoto took care and optimize the images to display online without any more work, because I´ve 1200 images to upload and they´re jpegs 5616 × 3744 pixels. It´s just to viewing purposes. Not o download or print.
Thanks.

In fact no matter if I use a High or Medium compression size JPEG, the size after upload is the same.
Starts with 1,5 MB/5600px (high) or 780kb/5600px (medium) JPEG and ends after upload in 115kb for a 1024px image.
This means that iPhoto auto compress in order to publish to Mobile Me, even if we start with a bigger file.
I hope this info is useful to others.
Thanks.

  • I need help reducing the image size...PSE8

I have some photos that I won't be enlarging/editing (just want to keep them in catalog) that are large MB size files. I want to reduce the size of these photos and still see them large on the screen. Can anyone tell me what resolution I should enter to do that?
For example what ratio would I enter for this photo:
I have a photo that is 3.55 MB (JPG), PSE8 says my file is 55.556 inches x 41.667 inches at 72 dpi.
When I open the resize Image option it says my pixel dimensions are 34.3M showing the width at 4000 and the Height at 3000
This photo is one that I don't plan to edit - I just want to keep in my catalog at a smaller size for screen viewing. When I have tried to reduce the size it shows up small on the screen (at 100%).Or chosing smaller inches still keeps the file in large MB size.
Why is it you can send an email in KB sizes that show up full screen but I can't get this reduced and it show up even be that big when it still says MB size?
I hope this makes sense, I am new to PSE8 and not sure if I explained this well enough.
    I appreciate any help!,
    Thank you,
    Angela

At the bottom of the screen, turn on Resample Image. Then enter a size in pixels for the longer of the two sides (figure this based on your monitor's pixel dimensions).
I wouldn't do this to an original unless you have a copy elsewhere.

  • Need to reduce the page size, not the file size (shrink the page to allow for binding)

I need to reduce the image size (text is too large to allow for binding).

What is the output device - it is best to set scaling there, or scale while printing from Acrobat. The only means to accomplish
I need to reduce the image size (text is too large to allow for binding).
    Print to Adobe PDF printer.
Define a page size in the Properties of the PDF Printer
Print from Acrobat to PDF Printer with scaling in effect.

  • Email-to facilitate emailing a photo by gmail or AOL, I reduce the file size.  Is it better to reduce the image size or increase the jpg compression?

To facilitate emailing a photo by gmail or AOL and avoid overwhelming the recipient's screen, I reduce the file size.  Is it better to reduce the image size or increase the jpg compression?  I have been making a duplicate image of 35 MB and reducing the image size to 8"x12" at 72 resolution giving a file size of 1.4 MB.  Then I SAVE AS a jpg of medium compression giving a  file size of about 111 KB.  Overkill?

    Go to File>save for web.
I usually make the long side 800 px
At the bottom of the dialog, check "constrain proportions."
At the top, select JPEG in the dropdown for the file format.
All the work is done for you! 72px/in is ok for web work. 240-300px/in is the recommended range for printing.

  • Need to reduce the report size.

    Hi all,
I am using CR2008, i have total 4 images(jpeg) in the header and footer. My problem is  size of the rpt file. i am getting 8MB for the blank report itself. so i cant able to export this file properly from my  application(.net)into .doc and RTF formats if the report having more than 20 pages. When i remove the whole images from the rpt the size is getting down to around 150KB.
The DPI of the Image is 600 with same height and diffrent width.but the total image size is only 160Kb.i cant able to compromise the resolution of the image. While i am reducing the DPI, the size of the rpt is also decreasing. How can i overcome this problem without reducing the image resolution.
Hope anyone will give the solution for this,
    Thanks in Advance,
    Salah.

I ran into the same issue and was able solve the problem.
When you insert a jpeg into a report, the jpeg is converted to a  bitmap so  for example a 200K jpg file can explode to 3 megs.
I was able to solve the problem by opening my bitmap(which was black and white) in photoshop and converting the  bitmap to grayscale. Then when saving the converted bitmap I compressed the file.
Then I inserted the image into the report as a OLE object which keep the new size of the file.
Then the other thing you need to do is make sure you have Retain Original Color Depth check on under your report options so that the image will retain it resolution.

  • Reducing the Image size of a PNG

    Hi,
I wonder if anyone could possibly help me this.
I have a program that generates PNG images from an ImageBuffer and conerts this into a ByteStream to be sent via a Servlet:-
    ImageIO.write( myBufImage2, "PNG", byteStream2 );
Unfortunately, the image size is uncompressed and consquently quite large to send. Could anyone suggest a way I could compress this image before sending it?
    Thanks,
    Pete

i'm in a somewhat similar type of situation. first of all, wht platform are you using? UNIX OR PC?
i'trying to resize images to JPEGs. now the class by itself when executed in a standalone mode using -Djava.awt.headless = true, works. it resizes the image to a lower res JPEG. however, when i call the class thru a JSP page to resize the image i get the following:
    sun.java2d.SunGraphicsEnvironment.createFontProperties()Lsun/awt/FontProperties;
bear in mind, i am running Xvfb on the server so it should work in headless mode.
    any clues??

  • How do I change the image size by pixels

In the older version of photoshop you could change the image size and change it by pixels independently. With photoshopcc if I change the width the height changes. How do you change the 2 values independently to get the desired size?

You'll want to use the Camera icon to upload your screenshot images when you reply.
But jml007 has the answer I think you want. Change the units from inches to pixels and click on the chain link to turn it off and enter your W H values independently.
Mark his answer as correct if this solves your issue.

  • How can I reduce the image size (how to use "Steps X, Y" and "ROI")?

I upgraded Labview (and NI-DAQ) from 5.X to 7 Express (and NI-DAQ 7). That seems to make PCI_IMAQ1411 to malfunction. I could move ROI and reduce the size by changing "ROI and Step X and Y" of NI_Snap.vi. All of a sudden, IMAQ started not to work properly even under the same code and device. Only difference is LabView and NI-DAQ version. Could you help me working IMAQ1411 under the upgraded LabVIEW and NI-DAQ?
    Thanks, Grace

    Dear Dcoutri
    Thank you for your reply.
    (1) The version I have on my computer is IMAQ 2.5.7 which has been installed together with NI-DAQ 7 when I install the LabView Express 7. It is strange that I cannot find the version on "DownLoad site".
    (2) You said that Imaq 3.0 does not support Step X, Y function. So you recommend that Imaq 2.5.5 is rather proper one. Then how about Imaq 2.6.1 (2.6). Does that support Step X, Y function?
    (3) Using Imaq 3.0, how can one scale down an image?
    Thanks, Hyun

  • How to reduce the image size of a jpeg image?

How do I reduce the size of an iphoto jpeg image?

What do you mean by size? The dimensions? The File size?
There are options depending on exactly what you want to do and why you want to do it.
In general: these are options in the File -> Export dialogue. The Jpeg Quality setting refers to file size, the Size option refers to dimensions.

  • I cannot reduce the images size on my ipad2 has anyone had this problem before ?

I have been unable to reduce all images on my Ipad2 screen. Any suggestions ? I was in an app called Bamboo Paper and the size blew up.Nothing I do works.

Double tap your screen with 3 fingers and the image should go back to normal size.  You may also go into your settings and see if zoom is turned on.  If it is turn zoom off.

  • How to reduce the image size of a mv2

    Hi there,
I am creating a DVD (DVD Studio Pro 3) containing mv2 of quicktime files. The screen size of these files vary according to the quicktime. I would like to give them all the same screen size so it looks even.
At the moment some mv2 are full size screen while others are half the size.
When I play the DVD on a TV, some have really bad resolution. Hence my question.
I have exported the quicktime files with a two pass VBR encoding as well as a one pass VBR. But it makes no difference.
    Thanks,
    V.
PS: I have final cut pro in case I should use that program to make any changes.

It's the source files that determine the eventual size of the encoded assets.
They need to be resized to 720x480 in your NLE before they are encoded. If they start smaller than this, you'll get a quality hit.

  • HT201504 anyone have a cheat sheet on the image size and pixels displayed in the books?

In iphoto, creating a book, layout grids offer different options. Finding an exact fit took several attempts at least to get size (pixels) correct. I had to slowly shave off strips of images. Is there a general guide. There are many options to choose, close-up faraway, side by side. Is there an approx. recommended size  for the different grey pictures indicating distance from camera to subject?

You would need to use Photoshop scripting to do that. Also using number of Pixels might not be what you want to use.  While number pixel is an absolute number pixels you have have no size information till there is a DPI resolution involved. At 300 DPI 300 pixels are 1" in size at 72 DPI 300 pixels are 4.16 inches in size.

  • Reducing the file size Pages

I am trying to reduce the file size of a document in Pages. It has many jpegs. When I use File>Reduce File Size or Format>Image>Reduce File Size, I get stuck at "Determining potential file size reduction ..." and it will go no further. Selecting "Cancel" or "Reduce" has no effect. I need to to a forced quit to get anywhere. Thanks

To use the Reduce file size isn't the best way to do it but the easiest if it works. You probably have an image clogging the process.
Instead reduce the image sizes in a graphical application suited for it. Do the cropping of the images first if you haven't done that already. Then down size the resolution to about 300 dpi if you want to print the document images. If it is only going to show on the screen you can down size the images to about 75 dpi.
