Do I need to reinstall my original iPhoto on my upgraded OS?

Okay, part two of a previous question.
I got an iPod Nano last year and had to upgrade my OS because of compatibility issues with my old iTunes, the OS, and iPod. iTunes and the iPod are working fine. There's the AntiVirus issue that is driving me crazy, but even more so is my iPhoto trouble.
Now with the new OS and my older G3 processor, whenever I export, or sometimes just edit photos, my iPhoto freezes. It'll export to the folder on my desktop or wherever, but I can't go back to iPhoto to do anything unless I force quit each time. Is this because of my processor not being high enough to work with the version of iPhoto in the OS? Can this be solved by reinstalling the iPhoto that came with my computer? Or will that mess up the OS and iTunes?

You may receive better attention to your problem by choosing the proper iPhoto Forum from the iPhoto Category of Discussions and posting the question there.
This type of problem can sometimes be caused by a hard drive that is too full, also. How much space remains available on your hard drive?

There is no download for the software. The factory software that you are looking for is called ilife. It is all of the software that would have came preinstalled with your mac on your original hard drive when you first bought it. You will have to get new software on your computer. This might actually be a great opurtunity to upgrade to Lions. Search the Lions software in the mac store and it will come up. Click add to cart and check out. The price for it is $20. I defientely recomend Lions, it has alot of new great features. Then wate for the install disk to come in the mail. when it come just pop it in and follow the step by step instructions. If you dont want to upgrade to lions however you can download the ilife package from apple.com for a small price. Hope this helps.

Prepare Your Mac for Sale
Boot from the OS X Installer Disc One that came with the computer. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select the startup volume from the left side list then click on the Erase tab. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then click on the Options button. Select the one pass Zero Data option and click on the OK button. Then click on the Erase button.
Note: You can skip the Zero Data option if you are not concerned about removing sensitive personal data from the hard drive. If you choose to skip this part of the process then it is possible for others to recover data from the hard drive. The Zero Data procedure will prevent others from getting access to your personal information.
This process will take 30 minutes to several hours depending upon the size of the hard drive. After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Now complete the OS X installation. At the completion of the installation do not restart the computer. Instead just shut it off. The next user will be presented with the Setup Assistant when they turn on the computer just as it would if new out of the box.

if you do the "normal" upgrade, all you apps should still be available. If you did an erase first, then you will have to reinstall them. BUT, BEFORE you do the install, create a bootable backup, just in case anything happens (very rare, but why temp fate).

The short answer is.. No.
However, keep near by those SYSTEM and APPLICATIONS DVDs that came with your computer, just in case anything goes wrong.
... FYI... make sure to check SOFTWARE UPDATE after the install, for any updates to your iLife applications that will make them more compatible with Lion.

To start in Internet Recovery, hold Command, Option (Alt) and R keys while your computer is starting. Before installing Lion, you have to erase the hard drive, so open Disk Utility, choose the hard drive at the top of the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the hard drive. Then, close Disk Utility and reinstall Lion

I hope you deactivated them before you formatted you disk. You should just install them line in the past. If you had two activation for them and did not deactivate one for each product you will need Adobe Customer Support's help activating the products.

I had my hard drive replaced on my imac. I now need to reinstall illustrator and Photoshop CS5 upgrades. The original full version of these was Ill10 and Photoshop 6 which were only supported by Classic OS9 which is no longer on my computer. How do I go about installing these without that?

What OS X version is on the iMac? Classic can only be used with Tiger OS 10.4 and lower.
The OS 9 installer is on the install disc that came with your iMac.

Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. The disk should be formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) This will make a copy on that disk.
Test this to make sure it works. Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and open the copied Library.
Really, the amazing thing is that you say you have a "very large library" and claim you don't want to lose it but you don't already have a back up?

It would appear that there is no longer any support for Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac. I keep getting a notice for updates but when I elect to do so, I get the message that I need to reinstall the program from the original program disks- which I no longer have.

I’m debating whether to can the app, or just ignore, or turn off the updater. Suggestions?

If you are at version 9.5.5 that was the end of the line for Acrobat 9.x. You are correct that Acrobat 9 is no longer supported. Adobe is only supporting Acrobat X and Acrobat XI at this time.

Make sure to follow the directions carefully and sign into the Adobe Trials page first with your Adobe ID.

Do I REALLY need to reinstall Lion because my iPhone stopped being recognized by Image Capture, Aperture and iPhoto but still shows up in iTunes?
I was on the phone with Apple Support with 5 different Advisors for more than 3 hrs today and we were not able to resolve the problem (yet). Although the problem is frustrating, it's always kind of a pleasure chatting with the Advisors. (I said kinda)
Approx 2 weeks ago, iPhoto, Aperture and Image Capture all stopped recognizing my iPhone. Oddly, iTunes has no problem recognizing the iPhone. Here are just a few of the things we tried but didn't get the apps to see the iPhone again:
- Removed and deleted all photos on camera roll using a windows machine
- Removed all other photos synced between my iMac and iPhone
- Made sure an image existed on the camera roll
- Recorded some video on iPhone and then tried to get iMovie to recognize device
- Restored (gulp) the device followed by a restore from back-up
- Restored again (double gulp) but this time to factory settings and kept the device as a "new iPhone"
- Logged on as different users
and on and on.
Also, after noting that my machine refused to send a systems report to my Sr Advisor (Jimmy) at Apple, he suggests we re-install Lion (ack). But when we went to access the Recovery Partition we realized it wasn't there.
No recovery partition?

Several Apps not seeing iPhone while others are recognizing the device?
So now I wait for Lion to arrive on one of those nifty Apple thumb drives for me to try re-installing ;-(

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
