Do I need to run my Macbook battery flat?
Will I prolong the life of my Macbook battery if I occasionally allow it to run flat?
Running it flat doesn't do anything special, but as Mort mentions Apple recommends that you calibrate your battery every few months as shown HERE.
Calibrating your battery really means calibrating the battery meter. It just resets the meter so that it gives a better estimate of the charge remaining.

ApplicationEnhance,Bundle...is it needed to run my Macbook?
After reading an Apple tech article about blue screens, I removed the ApplicationEnhancer.Bundle from my Mac.
I saw on the Unsanity website, there is an updated version.
Is this program essential for my Macbook, and should I reinstall the updated version?
Thank you!ApplicationEnhancer is only essential if you run applications by Unsanity, or similar interface modification programs. A lot of their programs break with operating system updates, so be sure your application is known to be compatible with the operating system you have installed down to the point release of the updates.

You are in the wrong place. Click on the Apple in the left corner on your desktop and then click "About This Mac."

What configuration of the new macbook pro do I need to run FCS 3 without choppy playback.
Yep, just wondering what configuration of the new macbook pro do I need to run FCS 3 without choppy playback or lagging. I'm thinking about the 7200rpm, 2.2ghz, antiglare, 4gb ram, with 1gb GPU graphics card configuration
Nothing wrong with the computer. Playback is dependent on the media and the drives.

Can I run my MacBook Pro Late 2008 without battery forever? Is it bad in long term or anything? Does it make the system less stable?
My battery got swollen (and I unfortunately noticed it very late and might have be running with it for months, which potentially explains all the crashes everyday and the trackpad not working anymore, the Apple test also says I have a bar of ram broken...) and I had to remove it because the back pannel did not close anymore... Can I still use my MBP normally forever that way? I was planning on buying a new mac anyway but maybe waiting for the next iMac upgrade in the year... Should I wait?Other than the system shutting down instantly if you have a power outage, whcih could corrupt the OS. Nothing else bad will happen.

Can anyone recommend a portable USB 3.0 drive with hardware encryption, compatible with OSX Mountain Lion and Windows 7. I need it for my MacBook Pro 13”, 2012, running Mountain Lion & Windows 7 Ultimate - BootCamp. I’ve heard that the Buffalo MiniStation Encryption does not work with OSX, is that true..? I'd like it to work with both operating systems, using the built in hardware encryption. Thanks

Late 2008 Macbook Pro shutting down at 94% while running on the battery
So I called Apple about this issue last week, since I tried calibrating my battery to improve it's health. And when my battery life got down to 94% or lower... my laptop just shut down. For no reason. When I called Apple, the guy I talked to before said it sounded like my battery was defective. He hooked me up to a tech guy, and when I told him what was up, he said that all the numbers on my battery sounded normal, and that he thinks that my logic board is failing. I'm not entirely sure what is up. These are the numbers I am getting now, one from iStat Pro, and the other from System Profiler:

http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb376/setsuna108/Real%20Me/Screenshot2012-03 -05at100154PM.png
I had my laptop plugged in all day, but I unplugged it for like, 2 seconds because the LED light on my 85w Magsafe Adaptor was out again... just from bumping it. It was at 82% battery health yesterday, and was fully charged. The battery, as well as the adaptor and laptop are a little over 2 years old. My battery health has been declining since January... it was at 86% health at the end of January, near the beginning of February... then a few weeks into February, it went down to 84%, then 81%... up to 82%, and now down to 79% health. What on earth is going on? Do I need to get a new battery along with a logic board replacement?Software update to 10.6.8 fully?
Reinstall 10.6 only then Software update fully?
You can do that by backing up data off the machine and disconnecting, then c boot off the 10.6 disk, just reinstall OS X over the more recent copy, then reboot holding shift key down (precaution) then Software update fully to 10.6.8.
then you'll have to check all third party software to make sure it's running, some install kext (kernel extension) files into OS X which get booted out by the overwrite install method, so install those again from fresh sources.
If that doesnt' fix your issue then it's a firmware or hardware issue..
run a hardware test

I need to run windows in my Macbook
Hello,
I need to run Windows in my Macbook.
So I know I need to get Parallels or VM Fusion.
What I don't know is how do I get a windows program and which one? I checked and there are SP2 and SP2 ORM? Which one I need?
Thanks
ZKHi ZK and welcome to Discussions,
the OEM (not ORM) version of Windows XP with SP2 will work just fine with either Parallels, VMWare Fusion or Apples BootCamp.
Have Fun

Macbook Pro Shuts down when running off the battery...
Im have the late Macbook Pro 15" and I have had it for a year now. When im running my macbook off the battery it shuts down... I have no clue why. It started doing this about 4 or 5 days ago. I have my battery info here.

I noticed that the Full Charge Capacity is not that high compared to other macbooks. Could this be the reason why its shutting its self off? Also i copied this info while i was plugged into the AC adaptor. It also says that its fully charged but the percentage on my macbook reads 97%...
I also installed 4GB ram in it 4 months ago and never had this problem. Could having the new ram in it be draining the battery?
If someone could help me with this extremely annoying problem it would really be appreciated. Thank you for your time.I am having the same problem. I just recently noticed that my battery life was less than an hour. In the beginning, I was able to watch 3-4 complete movies while on a flight. Now, it shuts down if on batteries within 10 minutes while the Bar shows 59 minutes.

As you can see, I have only 57 cycles on this battery. I cannot do anything on battery power only anymore. I spent all morning draining the battery to 0 (all lights on battery off) When the battery is charged and when on battery power, the computer will shut off. The battery charge indicator LEDs on the battery itself has 4 of 5 solid and 5th one blinking. The computer will not power on for about 5 minutes when on battery power only. I bought this MBP about 15 months ago. Any help would be appreciated -
When my Mac battery dies and I turn it back on, it always crashes on the grey screen with the progress bar, then it restarts (taking forever) and does not remember any of the programs I was running. MacBook Pro 13 inch running Mavericks

Sometimes when I open my MacBook Pro, it restores its RAM, as if it has run out of battery, even though it has not run out of battery and it has been charging. Why does this happen, and should it be happening?
It's similar to hybernation mode in Windows.
If you put your laptop to sleep, after X amount of hours it will move to the "deeper" sleep level (save memory to disk and shut down...), to save up battery.
Otherwise if you left your laptop asleep in the evening, you could wake up to a dead battery. Not a great surprise when you in hurry to leave the house with your laptop...

I have a new Macbook pro and need to run some Windows software, it appears "Parallel" should work well from what I've have read. Will I have any issues or problems accessing and printing from various printers on my Windows 7 network within Parallel? Is Parallel in fact the best way to go?
First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long. -

I am needing some guidance on the purchase of a Macbook Pro. I am wanting to have Wirestream Pro 4, a live streaming/recording software, and Final Cut Pro 7 and am needing to see what i would need to run them as far as drive capacity etc.
The top end MacBook Pro 15" (17" high res/anti-glare for full 1080 HD screen) for mobile video needs with some restrictions and hinderances, you will need the Build to Order 7,200 RPM drive for sure as you need space and speed.
You can have 8GB of RAM from Apple or place 16GB in yourself for a lot less than Apple charges for 8GB. However you need to be handy with tiny screws, or have a local specialist do the 16GB for you.
Your probally better off with a MacPro than a MacBook Pro.
The MacPro is more powerful, and easier to get inside and do things, lasts longer, more ports, more drives, more storage for video, fast external RAID 5 setups etc.
So if you can get into a MacPro, that would be a better option for video.
