Do i need to start looking elsewhere...?

Hi All,
Something has been bugging me for the last year or two and that's the Portal and ABAP. I've been involved in Portal technology for the last 6 years and enjoying it. I've been in development, administration, and going through the ups and downs of NWDI.
Lets start with the Portal, I've been hearing that SAP does not have a strong feeling about the portal (long term) especially with business client in the mix. I mean a friend of mine questioned what does the portal really offer to customers these days? These things concern me as wondering if i reached the point where i need to start looking at adding different skills to my arsenal of other SAP skills (all Java and Portal related) or in need of a career change. The second challenge is trying to break into ABAP, I've reached the conclusion that in order to call yourself an SAP developer you got to know ABAP. All I read these days is how SAP is moving all their existing applications to Web Dynpro for ABAP etc etc etc. Since I don't know procedural development is it wise to jump into ABAP OO and starting learning Web Dynpro for ABAP? I have alot of knowledge in Web Dynpro for Java fo this should hold me in good stead. Yeah, lots to think about but thats the nature of IT...never stop learning i guess. It would be nice to hear peoples thoughts on these matters if anyone else is going through the same concerns.

In my opinion, learning WD ABAP is not a bad idea. There are lots of ABAP developers but good ABAP developers with OO ABAP and WD ABAP skills are rarer. And your WD Java experience will really help you.

Sorry I know some people do not like this, and as usual Firefox made a change without advance warning, but it is easy to change back.
Just change the search engine set as default in the search bar that changes all the Firefox searches to use that search engine.
So that includes, location bar, newtab, homepage, highlighted text

I have my iTunes library on an external HD because it is too big for my iMAC 500GB HD. I want to backup my external HD. Can I do this with any Apple cloud product or should I look elsewhere? Also is it worth just buying another external HD to back up

The ntfs hasn't seem to be causing any problems, but I've always wanted to know.
in order for your Mac to write to NTFS drives, it needs some help by installing e.g. the NTFS 3G driver. apparently that or something similar is installed on your Mac already. preferably, it would be formatted for Mac but then windows machines would need to have e.g. MacDrive installed to recognize the drive.

Opinions on your T430S screens? Should I order another or look elsewhere?

After 6 thinkpads I know not to expect too much of the screen, but my new T430S is going to be returned. It has got that "grainy" look about it. It is the 1600x900 (a 2356-GDG)
I am coming from a T410S that actually has a clear and decent panel in it ... So I was hoping that it would be similar. But I also worked at a client last year, where they gave me a T420 to work on, and that was a grainy screen too... So are all the T420/S and T430/S that bad? Or do they use different quality panels?
I really need the Thinkpad T series and the X230 with the IPS is too small, and I think the T530 with the 1920 panel is a litle to clunky.... Should I try and order another T430S or give up on them?
I even started looking at the Macbook Pro Retinas and the Asus Zenbook .... But I know I'll miss the Thinkpad keyboard. Even the new chiclet style.

While I love my T430s in all other respects, I've been greatly disappointed by the poor screen quality. I realize Lenovo has to compete with others on price, but they should at least offer an IPS screen as an option. I know I'd be willing to pay for it. Fortunately I use my T430s with an external IPS monitor most of the time so I don't have to look at the built-in screen very often.

I compiled a Java applet with jdk1.1.8 that html runs fine on Explorer 6.0.2800...
but when I run on Netscape 7.0 I get an error:

You might need to use the Object & Embed tags rather than the Applet tag in your HTML. IE allows you use sun's JVM for the Applet tag, but I don't know about Netscape. Look for HTMLConverter to convert HTML files that support both tags.

The sort fields should generally be empty unless you've putting in custom values to sort solo artists by their surnames. You can apply common changes to thousands of tracks at once, just don't apply the wrong change because there is no undo.
It is a good idea to backup before undertaking large scale changes. See this backup tip for a suggested approach.

I'm not sure I understand. You swapped the A and B modules. The B module does not show up in the A modules slot? That would indicate the module is bad. If the A module doesn't show up in the B module's slot, then the slot is bad.

Is there any way to create a time machine backup to an external hard drive with content already on it? I have a hard drive that i have used for pictures but when i try to run a backup it says i need to start from a blank drive. Can i get around it?

It would be much better if you had separate drives for the pictures and Time Machine backups.....but, if you want to use the same drive for both purposes, temporarily move the folder with the pictures to another location for safe storage.
Run the Time Machine backup on the hard drive and verify that everything is working correctly. Time Machine will format the disk for you in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as part of the backup process.
Then move the folder with the pictures back to the hard drive with the Time Machine backups.
When you have tested to make sure that everything is working again, then and only then should you delete the folder with pictures from the temporary storage area.
Again....it would be much better to keep Time Machine backups on a drive just for that purpose, and other data on another drive for that purpose. This is clearly one of those times when the fact that you can do something does not mean to imply that you should do it.

Text on monitor starts looking blurry

Hi! I adore my HP w2207h monitor, it had been working fine for the longest time. Now the text starts looking broken after a few seconds. It gets fixed as soon as I make it bigger with my mouse wheel but then it goes blurry again. I have tried calibrating, toggling between clear type and not, downloaded latest drivers. I also noticed it mostly happens when I'm online. Is there a solution or will I have to put the poor baby down?

I fixed it!! But it's important for at least beginners like me, that it didn't have anything to do with the monitor. Thankfully, I found out just as I was about to go spend money I don't have on a new graphics card and a new monitor. Turns out it was just a Firefox thing. Merely by accident, I had to use Internet Explorer, and noticed I didn't have the problem there. So I went back to FF and the problem was there, more awful by the minute. After looking into it I ended up changing the CSS in their back end and disabling hardware acceleration. I didn't see that anywhere around here, so I hope it helps anybody that has that problem, before they go buy new stuff.

I have zero knowledge of programming. I have done programming about 7 years ago and it was extremely basic stuff and mostly to do with C. I have learnt BASIC language (wonder if its even worth mentioning) in school!! But, I really want to program. Even if it takes a long time. How do I get started??

You can find an answer for even the most basic question on the internet. It just a question of time and effort. If you have
