Do I need to turn in my old phone when I get Early Edge?

I just got this phone on Early Edge, and I've been told different things from different people. I called Verizon, and after finally getting to a real person, they told me that if I got this phone through 'Early Edge', I do NOT need to mail in my old phone (Which I bought on eBay), but if I had 'regular Edge', I do need to mail one in. My receipt says Early Edge. Do I need to mail in my old phone (Which I bought myself)? I don't want to be charged 200$ for something I had no clue about..
If I do have to mail in my phone, do I get some sort of compensation? Like, taking money off my bill?
I did pay 100$ for this iPhone myself, not too long ago.
I just received this new iPhone two days ago and I'm already regretting it.

    Hello RandomUsername82,
I would be delighted to clarify for you. If you recently utilized the Early Edge option you would indeed need to mail in your old device. Since you were under contract when you utilized this program, we require you to trade in the old device to offset the contract termination fee. Unfortunately there would not be a credit or refund for your device as this device cancels your wireless contract. Please keep us posted if you have any further questions or concerns, thanks!

  • I just upgraded to the Edge program, do I need to turn in my old phone that I purchased a year ago, or can I trade it in for credit towards my new device?

I just upgraded to the Edge program, do I need to turn in my old phone that I purchase?
Im confused because I got my new phone in the mail, and the instructions say to return my old phone, which I did not receive under the Edge program.

Yes I did an early upgrade through Edge, had 8 months left on my contract. My old phone was a subsidized upgrade.
Then yes you have to send the phone back.

  • How to stop messages from going to your old phone when you get an Andriod

    Hey,
So this isn't a question since i have the answer i just figured this out today and saw no answers for my case so i'd figured i'd post a solution i found.
In my instance i got the a new phone, Android, and the iMessages were still going to my old iphone. I restored the phone and took out the sim but messages still wouldn't go to my phone.
Every thread says in order to fix you have to go to settings in the phone... BUT WHAT IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR PHONE ANYMORE!
    Here's your answer:
Go to apple.com and sign into your ID account on your computer. Go to the phone number settings. Delete your phone number. Save. And then for extra security change your password. Then turn your new phone off and back on and ask a friend who as an iPhone that hasn't been able to contact you to text to you see if it worked. It worked for me and i hope this works for you because this sh*t was frustrating.
    Thanks,

    https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/directToSignIn?loc alang=en_US
    Go the the above
Sign in. Go to the left side where it says phone numbers. Delete your number. Then save.
Your iPhone friends will now get the red exclamation point that the message didn't deliver instead of it sending. Then your iPhone friend will force the message to go through as a text by long pressing the message and choosing send as text. Once tthey do that once you're set and all other messages will automatically send as texts for them to you. You just have to hope your iPhone friends realize to force the messages through as texts the first time around  but even if they don't at least they know they aren't reaching you and you aren't ignoring them.
    Does that help?

  • Verizon EDGE - Why do I need to trade in my old phone?

I'm not expecting this question to be answered, and this might have been discussed before, but I just need to vent my frustration with Verizon.
After T-Mobile introduced their JUMP program, Verizon did a "me too" and offered EDGE. However, their phone subsidies are still included in the bill (unlike T-Mobile) and you need to trade in your old phone to get a new one via EDGE. What's the point of trading in your old phone if you're paying full price for the new one (over time)?
Also - My contract is now up and if I choose not to do a 2-year extension to get a discounted phone, it would make sense for me to get some sort of discount toward EDGE's monthly payments ($10 off a month, or something like that).
In any case, my old phone has a crack on it and Verizon won't accept it toward EDGE. When I brought it to the store the guy said that I should replace my screen and THEN bring it back in. Right, so I'll pay $100 to repair my screen and then Verizon can make money selling it as refurbished AND charge me a full price for a new one via EDGE.
    JUST SAYING.
    Andrew

What kind of phone do you have? There is no need to trade in your old phone to get on Edge if you are not under contract. Verizon sometimes did have special promotion for customers who may be in contract with a 3G smartphone or an older 4G phone. This special promotion required trading in the phone that they had because it was technically still under subsidy and the Edge program would give those customers the chance to "upgrade" before their actual date. However, if you are out of contract trading in your phone is NOT necessary. You have already fulfilled your obligation for that device. If you have an iPhone the rep was trying to get you to trade it in towards accessories for the new phone. They  work on commission and this is how they make a huge portion of the sales goal. I know most people don't care about that but a common misconception is that these reps make their money on the phones they sell which does NOT help them. If you are going to buy your phone from a corporate store you should get something else with it.
On to The Edge program. True this program is following suit with T-Mobile's plan. There are some differences. To be on TMo's Jump you are charged your monthly service fee (say $80), then you are charged your monthly fee for the phone (depends on the full price of the phone but say $27 average) which does not include any down payment. TMo also charges you $10 (mandatory) Jump fee. Yes this includes $8 for the insurance but there is still a $2 surcharge to be on the program. With VZW Edge your monthly service fee and your Edge payment. This is calculated by taking the full cost of your device and dividing it by 24. At the time of purchase there is no down payment. You only pay the tax on the full cost of the phone and the first Edge payment. I would opt for the insurance because if you would like to get a new phone before the 24 months is up that phone CANNOT be damaged in any way. With Edge you must complete 30 days with the device and 50% of the full cost of the device and you can change it. For all intents and purposes, Edge is like a lease. You pay monthly and can get out if when you meet the requirements. So, if you like to change to the newest devices or have more freedom this program is where it's at.

  • Is there a need to turn off my Apple TV when I'm using it? If so, how do I turn it off?

Is there a need to turn off my Apple TV when I'm not using it? If so, how do I turn it off?

    Kappy,
I know you said that my Apple TV shuts itself off after about an hours idle time but mine only shuts itself off radomly maybe one every two days even when the TV has been off and the iMack has been off over night. My wife and I both have iPhones and she has an iPad which may be causing the Apple to stay on. Don't know. Incidentally, my Apple TV  shows my iMack iPhoto pictures and albums great. Still a little concerned that it doesn't shut off after some idle time.

  • Verizon  rep lied to us.  We were told that we could get a $30 gift card( each) for our two old phones.  THe gift cards could be used  for paymen in our  V/zon bill.  WHen we went to the Vzon store to turn over our old phones, we found

We were lied to by Verizon- , I believe was the rep at corporate.
. They told us we could turn in our old phones and get two $30 gift cards to be used as $60 credit on any Vzon bill.
When we went to the store to turn in the old phones, the manager, Gilbert, stated all he could do is talk to his super and request a $30 gift card. Initially they offered us $1 for each phone( basic recycling reimbursement).
I was promised $60 in gift cards for  credit against the $60 in upgrade fees charged to  us.
Disappointed again.  COnnectivity is great but their customer service reps lie and, overall, their customer service sucks!

  • I'm having trouble setting up my new 5s. it won't connect to phone service and my old phone is still getting all my messages

i'm having trouble setting up my new 5s. it won't connect to phone service and my old phone is still getting all my messages

    According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPhone_5
the iPhone5 has 1GB of RAM, and internal storage of 16, 32, or 64GB.
It does not use SD cards.
Fake iphones are really Android phones using the skin of iOS6.
Click on the App Store icon. If it takes you to Apple's App Store, then it's a real iPhone.
But if you are directed to Google Play, then I'm afraid you've gotten a copy.

In settings>general>restrictions>location services>system services do you have cell network search set to off? If so turn it on and it may help to find a signal faster.

  • I lost my iphone so I purchased one from Craiglist, it isold. It is a 4.2.1 (8C148) and when I want to down load apps, it says I need iOS4.3  Can my old phone even be upgraded?

I don't even know if this can be upgraded to higher level software. When I try to download an app, it
states that I need iOS 4.3 but when I plug it into to my itunes it says that it is the right update. So do you
think that I have such an old phone it can't be upgraded to handle the newer apps like Shazam

Iphone 3g can only go to 4.2.1

    You have multiple AppleIDs?
Did you try the AppleID & password you use to login/post here?

Just delete them from the album.
What is a drawback? That you can delete items from albums?
