Do I need to uninstall CS5 before upgrading to Creative Cloud?

Just bought a new iMac. Do I need my old software on there before I buy the new CC?

wondered if I needed my old software on it before upgrading.
No.
"Upgrades" are all full versions of the software. They don't depend on prior versions being installed in order to function. Upgrade licensing just means you pay less because you already own a previous qualifying version.
In the case of Creative Suites (CS5, CS6) "upgrade" only refers to the serial number.
In the Creative Cloud there are no serial numbers. They're activated via your Adobe ID. The versions available in the Cloud (CS6, CC and CC 2014) are all full versions containing full executable code.

    Hi pamelakirkpatrick ,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
You dont need to uninstall existing version to install new version.
You might consider wiping the existing version if you no longer use it as storing multiple versions can occupy a lot of hard disk space.
    Please reply for any assistance.

  • Do I need to uninstall CS5 before installing Cloud Versions?

I'm a new cloud user and haven't downloaded the software yet.  Do I need to uninstall CS5 before downloading the cloud versions?

No need to uninstall unless you want to. Major versions can co-exist.

  • Should you remove old versions (CS5) before you install creative cloud?

Should you remove old versions before you install creative cloud?  Right now I have CS4 and CS5 on my system.  Iwould like to remove them before I move forward.

Rod as Badavaraj indicated there is no requirements to keep the older versions installed.  If you have particular compatiblity needs with plug-ins or working collaboratively with other Adobe users using those versions however you may want to keep the older software titles installed.

  • Do I need to uninstall CS5 before I install CS6

I started to download CS6 apps, thinking they would upgrade my old CS5 apps. This does not seem to be the case since now I have both CS5 and CS6 apps at the same time or did I do something incorrect?I have subscribed to CS5 for over a year now. Just wanted to make sure.

    No, uninstalling is not required.

  • If I upgrade to Creative Cloud, will my current copy of Premier Pro CS5 continue to work normally?

I ask the question because when I installed PPro, my installed version of Photoshop Elements stopped working and Adobe just told me I had to buy a new version. I can't afford to be without a working editing suite and I am nervous about screw-ups. I need to know that if all else fails I can still use my existing PPro CS5.

    Hi Vince,
    Welcome to Adobe forum.
If you will upgrade to Creative Cloud then also your CS5 PrePro will work.
We dont support CS5 ro CS5.5 version software anymore for technical issues.

  • Need to Prevent Adobe Application Manager for upgrading to Creative Cloud

I have successfully packaged Dreamweaver CS5&CS5.5 via Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition v2.1 and after a successfully deployed via SCCM Dreamweaver runs perfect. Unfortunatly upon the first launch of the icon on the desktop of "Adobe Application Manager" it's self upgrading to Creative Cloud.  This is a problem.  In this enterprise deployment I have updates set to manual and my AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat is set to the below which should be preventing this to my understanding <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Preferences> <Suppressed>1</Suppressed> </Preferences>

Thank you for getting back to me, currently my work around
is to have the deployment delete the two “Adobe Application Manager.lnk”
icons from both the desktop and the start menu for each OS version.  Not
exactly how I would like to have to do it however my
“AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat” does not seem to block Adobe Application
    Manager from updating.

  • Does upgrading to creative cloud invalidate my perpetual cs5/cs6 license?

We currently have 5 iMacs and 1 PC using CS5 / CS6 on a perpetual license however we are looking in to upgrading all users to creative cloud, would this invalidate the perpetual license's we currently have or will they be unaffected?

    Hi Matt,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Upgrading to Creative cloud will not affect the perpetual license products.

  • Existing subscription automatically upgrade to Creative Cloud?

I have an existing Premiere CS5.5 subscription. I called Adobe on Thursday the 10th of May to ask about moing to Creative Cloud.
I was told (after being put on hold for 20 mins while he went and found out) that my subscription would automatically upgrade to Creative Cloud on Friday the 11th and I would get an email about it on Friday.
I have heard nothing, my account still shows the 5.5 sub, I dodn't even have the option to update the single product (Premiere) to CS6 as I should under the terms of the old type subscription.
Has anybody else had similar experience or managed to resolve it?

    Hi DKD2000,
Since you no longer want the older software you can just uninstall them. The Creative Cloud Membership works through the website https://creative.adobe.com and licensing is done using your Adobe ID (same one you use to sign in to the forums here). If you go that webpage I gave, sign in with your Adobe ID and then click over to the Apps section, clicking any of the Download links should bring up a program called the Adobe Application Manager. This will help you automatically download and install your CS6 apps.

  • I am still in the stone age and using CS4.  Looking to upgrade to creative cloud.  Will I have any issues and what can I do to keep the files I have created in CS4 active with the new software?

I want to continue to use my CS4 created projects while upgrading the Creative Cloud.  I have an Imac, Ipad, Iphone 6 and Macbook Pro.  Am I going to lose or not be able to bring those .ai files from CS4 into the new software?@
