I really don't have any problems with Firefox, just trying to find out if it is necessary to uninstall Firefox 4, before installing the new version?

no, in fact, it's better to update it instead of installing the new one separately so that you don't loose your bookmarks and such.
To update, open firefox and go to Help and chose About Firefox. you should see an update button there.

It doesnt matter if you uninstall the older version or not.CS6 installer would be a new install and it would not overwrite or uninstall the older CS4 version software. if you dont intend to use the older version CS4 software you can unisntall using the Creative Suite Cleaner tool.

I have an older version of Firefox and adobe on a Sony VAIO. I keep getting pop-ups telling me to upgrade, and also frequent failures when I try to use the browser. I try to upgrade. I go thru the download step, then try the run step and get a message "not allowed". I have checked and I have admin privileges, and I've turned off the firewall security software thinking that it's blocking the install, but nothing works. Does anyone know if the older software is causing this and does it need to be removed before the latest version can go on. Also, if this problem is resolved am I going to have the same problem with Adobe?

If you have a very old Firefox version then you could consider to uninstall that version to clean up existing registry keys (especial the uninstall key).
Make sure NOT to remove "personal data" when you uninstall Firefox, because that will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Check the Firefox program folder and remove the Firefox program folder if there are still files left in it.

It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

If you just need it for one site you can use the portable version of Firefox 2 instead. You can install the portable version on a USB key, or if one is not available choose the custom install and install it somewhere on your hard drive. The portable version will not interfere with your current version of Firefox. You can get the portable version from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable - the link for Firefox 2.0.0.20 is near the bottom of that page.

Firefox doesn't install new versions of plugins, but Flash may update itself automatically.<br />

If the Flash player didn't update properly then you need to download the full version and run the installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as ...)

Hi, 1.Inset the disc in the computer. 2. Go to My computer3. Right Click on the DVD Drive and Click on Open.4. Create a Folder on your Desktop and copy all the contents from DVD to the newly created folder on your desktop.5. Are you sure you have the newest version of iTunes 11 and newest version of iOS6? Go to Software Update and make sure you do.

I'm not sure what you mean by it making accessing files more complicated. I have both Pages 4.3 & Pages 5.1 icons in my Dock as well as Numbers 2.3 & Numbers 3.1. I continue to use the iWork '09 versions for my everyday needs. As long as the new versions are in your Applications folder & the '09 versions in the iWork '09 folder, Software Update will not have a problem updating them even if Apple should come out with a new update for the '09 versions.
Because I have moved the new versions to an external drive & renamed the apps because I want '09 to be the default apps, I do have to remember to move them back to my applications folder & restore the original names before updating. But since you like the new versions this "complication" doesn't apply to you.

I recently got a mac and want to transfere my elements 10 from my PC to mac. I am aware that elements 10 is multi platform so I should be able to do this. However, should I uninstall the previous version on my PC before attempting to install on my Mac? If I dont, will it effect the license/ the amount of times I can use the key etc.?

No, you do not need to uninstall.
You can use a single license on two machines to install.

I dont reccomend downgrading... except as a LAST resort, this is a post I did Because iTunes 11 DID NOT work on my PC with Windows 8... (Im waiting for iTunes12, and the forum responce to see if even that is worth it now)
