Do I need to update the iPhone 5 before activation the iPhone 6?
I just received my new iPhone 6 and I was told (from a friend) that I should't attempt to activate it until my old phone was updated. My current iPhone 5 is not on the 8.1 operating system because I have no memory left whatsoever. I backed up my iPhone 5 today and attempted to update it on my Mac, just to be safe. After many failed attempts, I kept getting an error message saying that my network connection was lost. This hasn't happened to me before and is becoming quite frustrating.
So, my question is, do I need to have my old (iPhone 5) phone updated in order to turn on an activate my new iPhone 6? The old phone has been backed up successfully, but I was told that the new phone came loaded with my information already. I just don't want to screw anything up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

To be correct, no. You can activate whenever you want.
If you want to use your current iPhone data on your new phone, backup your current phone (iPhone 5) then restore the new iPhone with this backup.

Do you mean your itunes id, icloud id or another id.
You should be able to use your itunes id (settings, store, sign in) on both devices wiothout any issues.
The only issue you would have if you want to use 2 different icloud id's, one on your pc and one on your phone and still sync via itunes.
If your wanting to merge your apple id's this may not be possible, definately not possible if they are itunes id's -

The only solution is to erase the apps and purchase them through your own iTunes Store account. You have no legal right to those apps - the license is not tranferrable - and cannot in any case update them without the orginal purchaser's Apple ID.

I updated the latest version of iOS software on my Macbook Pro and now when I try to open up iPhoto it says that I need to update the latest version. But when I go to update on iTunes, it says the latest version is unavailable to the U.S. I wouldn't mind leaving it be but I can't access any of my photos. What do I do?

I recently backed up my iphone to itunes, when after backing up a message showed that I needed to update my iphone. I clicked ok, and after updating, it said I had to restore my phone to its factory settings. I cannot find where it backed up all of my pictures from my phone.
If you backed up the device, all the data is in the backup. Restore the backup.
A better question is why would an intelligent person not copy the pictures from the device to the computer regularly, especially before attempting an update, as the device is designed to be used? -

I have an iPod touch. When I try to download an app, it says I need to update the device's software to access the iTunes store. But, when i connect to iTunes, it says I have the most current version. I'm stuck. My mother got this iPod as free-with-purchase when she bought her desktop. She used it, then gave it to me. Could this be the problem? because she connected it to her iTunes and now it won't work on mine? When I first plugged it into my iTunes, it said the iPod was registered to another account and did I want to sync it with my account, to which I said yes. So far, this iPod has been useless to me because I can't download any apps to it. Help, please.

I currently had two apple ID's and I deleted the other on a whim a while back. Now whenever I need to update the iphoto or iMovie, it says to sign in into my deleted account, but I don't remember my old account's password nor the security questions. Any Help Please?
