Do I need to update?
I have a third generation iPod and have Update 26/06/2005 Version 4.2.
Do I need to update to 23/09/05 which mentions Version 3.1?
It says that this update contains same software as 26/06/2005, but in Software Update it appears as new update.
The software is technically new, but it doesn't contain anything new for your iPod.

I have a macbook pro, and am trying to update my software. I recently bought an iphone 5, and my software is to out of date to sync my phone with itunes. I currently am running 10.5.8 and I need to update to atleast 10.6.8. Just wondering if I need to purchase it from apple or if there is an easy/free way to update it.

I have recently upgraded my iMac Intel G5 iSight (iMac5,1) to OS 10.6.8 and now the internal mic does not work with skype or facebook. I can here static when playing back clips. Do I need to update firmware or reload old system parts. I have zapped PRAM. The blue indicator in system audio panel will appear for a second as I slide the bar for internal mic but then it disappears. Is there a fix?
The sound seems very faint but can here static on playback.

I need to update my apps in the App Store, but when i try to update, the Sign Up Apple ID pop up box came out with different Apple ID. How can I change it to mine? My iTunes Store already log in with my own Apple ID.
Just now you said the other Apple ID stored inside it, is that mean all my data back up in that the other ID?

Downgrading the iOS is not supported. If you are using Safari this try clearing its cache via Settings > Safari.
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -

Exactly! The password I used to log on here and write my post I figured was the same Apple ID password I would use to reset my computer login password. But my computer isn't recognizing it as the correct password so it wont let me update my login password. I have 2 user accounts on my computer.
As far as the link you provided, I already looked to that for help earlier. It states:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Users & Groups, click the lock to unlock it, then provide an administrator name and password. Select a user, then click Reset Password.
I did these steps, but I don't remember my admin password. The question is: How do I reset my admin password so I can reset my log in password.
Is my admin password the same password I use to log onto this website to post questions? If so, like I said previously, I already reset that password and my computer isnt recognizing it. -
My itunes on my PC keeps telling me I need to update my phone to the latest 10.6.3 and according to my phone I have no new updates. This is preventing me from downloading music from my itunes to my iphone. Please help!
It is not telling you to update your iphone, it is telling you that you need to update itunes on your computer.

I just found my old ipod touch (i think 1st generation) and would like to let my toddler use it instead of my phone. I am trying to download apps but it say I need to update to 4.3 but it won't let me update. I have the most recent itunes. any idea why? I saw a thread saying to purchase the newest software (that was posted a few years ago) I paid 4.95 for the software and it's still saying it can't be updated. Am I just SOL??
The 1G iPod can only go as high as 3.1.3. The 1G does not have an internal speaker or volume buttons on the upper left edge.

My friend just sold me her ipad she got Jan 2013. The software says its up to date with iOS5.1.1, but when i try to download certain app it tells me I need to update to iOS6.0 or later but when i go to the setting there are no updates. so how do I add these apps? The person i bought it from doesnt know what generation becuase it was a present to her.
The way you download older apps for the older, original iPad 1, as I understand it, is if you have iTunes installed on a computer, you purchase / download the new, current app, in the iOS App Store in iTunes on your computer. Then, go back to your iPad and go to the App Store app on your iPad and find the same app there and download it.
When You select app to update/download, a message pop-up window appears asking if you want to download the last compatible version for your device (if one still exists ) tap OK and that should be it. -
I updated the latest version of iOS software on my Macbook Pro and now when I try to open up iPhoto it says that I need to update the latest version. But when I go to update on iTunes, it says the latest version is unavailable to the U.S. I wouldn't mind leaving it be but I can't access any of my photos. What do I do?

I am having problems with my Firefox's image processor I believe. My web browser is fine but then a few minutes later I get some weird look on my page. It then just stays here and I can't fix it. When I go to Yahoo all the links and images do not look normal. I really cannot explain this and wish I could send a picture instead. When I go to the Log in page for Facebook I do not see the image of the small faces networking around the world. It's blank and the links are widely spread apart. With YouTube the page is also distorted. Nothing is arranged properly. I can watch videos. However when I go to someone's profile or a playlist videos cannot play or show up. It says I need to update my Java player and it is already updated. It still happens when I uninstall and re install back. I was only able to fix this problem by uninstalling everything related to Firefox. I do not know how to solve this any other way. I don't like it when all my information is lost such as saved passwords and bookmarks. If there is any way to solve this thanks. I just downloaded and updated to the new iOS 7 software today for it's release. But when I plug my phone into my usb and then into my macbook, it won't work on iTunes. It says it's not compatible and I need to update to the latest iTunes which they say is 11.0.5. When I go online and download the iTunes installer and download the new update, it works out fine and I don't seem to have any trouble with it but as soon as it opens iTunes when the installer finishs, the mesage about compatibility comes up again even though I just updated to 11.0.5. If anyone has any idea, let me know! I'm hoping that maybe it's just a glitch with the new iTunes that needs to be fixed up?

Thank you for your question. iOS 7 requires iTunes 11.1. First, I recommend trying to obtain the update by going to the iTunes menu and selecting Check for Updates.

When I try to update my phone to ios 7 it says i need to update my itunes to 11.0.5, when i check my current version in help menu under check for updates it says I have the current 11.0.5 version. Even the downloader for the update doesnt show that i need to update.Help plzz????
There is some kind of error. The new version of iTunes is 11.1, which although is not available via updates, it can be downloaded from the Apple website here:

After updating iTunes to the newest version you should be able to update your iOS

I have OS 10.5.8, Perian and Flip4mac wmv installed by apple at the store. I was having lots oF trouble so Apple replaced my keyboard, wiped my computer and reinstalled the OS and did all the Updates. They also added Flip4mac wmv player and perian. Everything worked great For a while but it's getting messy again. The lower case F has stopped working when I type online, but it works when I type otherwise. (Not sure iF that's related.)What is the GarageBand version that your friend is using?
If it is GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5, you can buy GarageBand '11 as a boxed retail version with the iLIfe '11 bundle, e.g. from Amazon.
Then you can upgrade GarageBand '11 to 6.0.5, using this upgrader from the Support page:

GarageBand 6.0.5 will work well with your system. But if your friend is using the newest GarageBand 10, this will not help. Then ask your friend to send you audio files for each track, so you can recreate the project from the audio. Or your friend could also use GarageBand '11 for the projects you want to share, that will run well in all newer MacOS X versions, even with GarageBand 10.0 installed on the same system.

Boot Camp Version 1.3b expired.. need to update but don't have windows.
So let me run you through what I did so far.
I got a version of Boot Camp 1.3 beta. I successfully installed it and began to go through the steps to set up windows. I skipped the burning the windows CD option and went straight to the partitioning. I created a 20gig partition named "Bootcamp."
I then realized I needed to burn the windows CD from Boot Camp in order to install it. So I quit the Boot Camp Assistant Application. The option to burn the windows CD was no longer available so I scrapped the Boot Camp Assistant, re-downloaded the 1.3 beta version and installed it.
Still no opportunity to burn the windows drivers CD disc. So I quit the assistant once again. I attempted to re-open the Boot Camp Assistant and I got an error message telling me it expired. So I set the date back on my clock to a date before the beta version expired (prior to Sept. 30, 2007).
Then, I got this error message:
This version of Boot Camp Assistant is not supported in Mac OS X v10.5. Use Boot Camp Assistant 2.0, located in /Applications/Utilities/.
And that's where I am right now. I still have to have the date set back to before Sept. 30th, 2007 to get to the error message above or else it tells me the version is expired.
So I've determined that I need to update Boot Camp to version 2.0 or higher, except I don't have windows installed on my computer yet. The mac support page tells me that I have to open windows and then install the updates to the latest version of boot camp... which I obviously can't do because I haven't installed windows yet.
So I'm stuck with a partitioned drive and I cannot use the Boot Camp Assistant. I need the assistant to burn the windows install CD that I need..
I'm in quite a pickle. Any help would be appreciated.. thank you.

You need to get that disk to use Boot Camp. Mac OS X 10.4 disks don't contain the drivers.
So, I have this Mac OSX install disc.. do I just insert it? And then what? How do I go about installing windows after that? I'm a little confused about how to get to the drivers and what to do I'm just not sure.
Once you've partitioned the drive and installed Windows, start up the computer into Windows and insert the disk. The installer should automatically start.
