Do I need two or four memory pieces for my MacBook to go to 2GB

I just ordered what I thought was 2 GB from Ramjet to put in my macbook and what I got was four 512 Memory pieces. Before I open up this computer and install, can I add four pieces after removing the two in there. Or do I need to return this memory and ask for two pieces of 1 GB each

If you are referring to the original system reinstall discs that shipped with every Mac before Lion came out you'll need to contact Apple with the serial # of your Mac and order a replacement set of them.
Or look on one of the Auction websites or places like iFixit.com for a replacement set.
If your Mac came new with any of the Download Only versions of OS X, Lion, Mt Lion or Mavericks you don't need any discs to reinstall OS X. You use the Online Internet Recovery system or the built in Recovery HD partition inb the internal hard drive.
For the built in Recovery HD hold down the Command + r keys at startup. For the Online system hold down the Command + Option/Alt + r keys and keep them held down until you see a globe on the screen.

Two vs: Four Memory lane useage.

With a 32bit system we know that up to 4gb is max and the system will only recognise 3+. Is it better to install 2x2gb sticks using only two lanes or is it more effecient to use ALL four lanes with 1gb in each, using the processors two memory processing banks?
Additionaly, does 2gb outperform 4gb in a 32bit system because of not dealing with the unuseable memory out of 4gb?
Curious of your answer, I am currently using only 2x1gb and running great.

As I stated I have only 2gb and am running fine. One of my Friends says all four slots out performs two slots with the same amount of memory, so I did research and came up with your answers, it's better to have 2gb utilizing all vs: 4gb on a 32bit OP system and have almost 1gb as unseen (unused)memory. Theory that the unused memory is a cog in the wheel that the system is constantly trying to ulilize and can't. Your responces leave me with 2gb as the way to stay until upgrading to 64bit system, which is a good suggestion.
So since I just setup a 790FX-GD70 I am going to order 1600 (pc12800) better OC Capable memory until the decission of 64bit in Windows 7 or Vista.
Some spec. reports state up to 4gb (using 3+) on 32bit and others experss no more than 2gb for better performance. I wonder why memory mfgrs don't make 1.5gb sticks for 32bit systems? Seems that would be the best answer to utilizing ram better even though 2gb should handle everything. After all that, do many of common programs make use of "Both" processor memory banks?

My web application uses JRockit JDK 1.4.2, Java Servlet, JSP &Struts. It is a clustered environment using WL 8.1 sp 4. I am investigating whether there are any memory leaks in the application & what are best practices to avoid leaks.
A specific scenario is as follows:
For an incoming request, the struts action class creates object �O� (of class A) and set �O� as a request attribute. This request attribute is used to display values on the JSP.
Now, class A has a heavily nested structure: Class A has object of class B, where B has a HashSet of objects of type C and where C has an object of type D and E.
Though I set this object �O� in request scope, do I need to explicitly nullify any of the references within object �O�? Can �not doing this� result in a memory leak?

My Mac book pro laptop freezes when I use it for like 4 mins. Then I have to power off the laptop. When I try to power it back on , it freezes on the blue screen . Also, it heats up very quickly . Do I need to replace a piece ? if so how much will it cost ?

If you boot your MacBook Pro into Safe mode, does it still freeze up in the same way then?

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

Who needs apple to make the bezels for the macbook pro? Lets get together and tell apple they must! It is a design flaw.

I love my pro. I paid 2700. for it 4 years ago. I did that because I know they are meant to last. I could have purchased a regular laptop but they don't last. Until recently I was ecstatic with it. Then one day I opened it up and my screen seemed really floppy. I didn't pay much attention. Then I noticed there were two cracks on the bezel toward the bottom of the screen. It is where the stress point lies from opening and closing. A very important location. I have read up on this, it is definitely a design flaw. I know the bezels are only work 10-15 dollars if produced. But because of the lack of availability of them they sell for 80 and up. I went to an Apple store with my friend. She purchased an IPAD 3 months ago, it fell out of her car, and the screen broke. Strangely enough, they replaced her IPAD when clearly it was customer fault, although she maintained it was a weak point. Me? The genius looked at mine and said I would need a new screen and it would be 700. Then another solution for 300. I asked why they couldn't just order a bezel. He said they don't make them. Apple does not make computer parts for their own computer? Unfortunately they gave me the rude runaround (Sherman Oaks,Ca manager Gabe Nava) and treated me like I was being unreasonable when I pointed out it was a design flaw with Apple!. Now i have a computer that could last a good 2-3 more years, but with this flaw the life will be shortened. Apple is this how u treat the customers that purchase you most expensive product versus the one that purchases the low/med price product? Let me know pro owners.....lets demand apple make these bezels. They should be replaced for free, but if it were available for 15. and then 50 labor...that I can live with. The best I could get outta Gabe was 150.00 and they keep my computer for a week! I live 120 miles away from the nearest store. I know your out there folks....lets make Apple make this right.

I've been trying to install adobe flashplayer 10.3 endlessly. I've done the download and now I'm at the point where this screen comes up that says "this link needs to be opened with an application," and then gives me the option to choose what application to open it with. My question is what application is best to open it with on my version of Macbook?

Click on "Choose..." and select "DiskImageMounter", After a few moments, depending on the size of the DMG file, you will see the mounted Disk Image show up on your Desktop.
If it doesn't show, choose Other & you navigate to... /System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter.app

More add memory questions for a MacBook Pro 1.1 (late 2007)

I've read some of the previous threads and looked at the info that "the Hatter" has provided. In my case (actually my wife's case) she has 4 GB of ram with 1GB in each of the risers A/DIMM 1&2 AND B/DIMM 1&2. She wants to add memory and my question is can I just add 2GBs to each of the empty slots (Riser A/ 3&4 and Riser B/ 3&4). The previous examples showed only one slot in each riser with stock RAM , so i'm not sure if I should move the existing RAM in riser B to slots 3&4 in Riser A or not. By the way, it's a dual core, 2.66 GHZ.
I'm assuming, also, from earlier threads that adding different sized memory, as long as it's in pairs is okay.

Sounds like the Mac Pro was ordered or already upgraded once to 4GB. They came stock with 2 x 512MB.
And yes, you can add 4 x 2GB.
And yes, I'd move them to slots 1&2.

Hello, I put windows 2003 on my laptop, and I don't know all the bootcamp drivers by heart. I gues I can't run the osx dvd becuase it will fail. So I have to individually find all the drivers, it is a white macbook dual core 2.0ghtz 1 gb ram. Is there a place with all the download links for all the drivers? Thanks
