Do I need YouView box for BT Sport

Hi. I have just signed up to BTSport and Infinity and received Youview box. At present I don't see BT Sport channels but I suspect I haven't yet been setup for it (4th Feb apparently).
My question is simple do I actually need the Youview box? - more clutter ! - On my Samsung SmartTV I have all the Freeeview and on-demand channels anyway and I also see Freeview channels for BT Sport 1 and 2 so is it possible to ditch it and just use the TV ?
ps - how do you change the colour hue on it - its much to rich and bright out of the box?
Thanks

You need something to stream the sports channel. The youview box is the best way (also allows it in hd if you pay for HD), but you can also use laptop or Chromecast if you don't want another box. There is talk of a smart TV app but I think this is a bit down the list of improvements at the moment so don't expect anything this year...
The freeview sports channels have gone (BT 2 has already ceased transmitting and 1 is due to stop about June), there is no option to sign up for these anyway without the old vision box as you need the cam slot (not to mention BT don't accept sign up anymore). They were always just a short term option until the bb coverage was at an acceptable level.

  • Free Youview box for new BT infinity customers

Does anyone know how to get the free youview box for new BT infinity customers?   Ordered new service on 12th Dec and called in later to check how/when I'll get the Youview box.  The CSR told me that I had to call after the broadband was installed to arrange to get the box and I would have to pay £5/mo for the TV service but according to the BT site, it's supposed to be free for BT infinity customers and £5/mo for other broadband customers (+ the £49 activation fee for all customers).
As I understand it, the offer ends 31st Jan but my infinity broadband is not scheduled to be installed until this Friday, 1st Feb (after a whole lot of aggravation, wasted time, incorrect info and failed follow-up by various BT reps).  I'm afraid if I call in afterwards, I'll be told that I missed the deadline to get the box and/or I have to pay the monthly fee even though I'm a BT infinity customer.
Since BT phone reps have been unreliable, can anyone provide info on this?  Thanks for your help

I wasn't aware I had to do this when I signed up.  So you're saying even though my line isn't installed yet and I'm a new customer, there's no way to get this if I didn't add this at the time of order even though I know this offer was active when I signed up?  When I signed up, there wasn't an option to add free TV service for 12 months for Infinity so I didn't add the service offered at £5.  Would BT really use loopholes and technicalities to avoid providing something they've offered and put up billboards everywhere to promote?

  • Need a box for ACD 30"

    Hello, all....
I need a box for ACD 30" because I want move out of state.
If somebody has the box, please let me know....
    Thanks.

If you still need the box, I have one, would be happy to give it to you if you arrange for UPS or other carrier to pick it up. I'm in Los Angeles area.

  • YouView box for existing customers

    • What options do existing customers (BT Infinity) have to upgrade to a YouView service/box?  I don't want to be stung on 'Activation' fees.
It appears to be the 'Essential' package (£5 a month).
    • I don't really want to buy the player, and I don't want to pay a £35 activation fee.  I believe the YV box comes for free as part of the package.  If the fee is £5 a month - that's a pretty cost-effective way to buy it (it's around £180 new for the T1000*)
    Some other questions:
    • I presume BT are supplying the Humax DTR-T1000 (500GB model) box, rather than the silver T1010.  I think the T1010 is the same player but just with a silver case.
    • Do BT (eg the firmware on the player) 'lock down' the Humax in any way?  For instance, would the T1000 box you buy on its own be 'freer' than the one BT provide?   Would the firmware updates via BT be slower than the ones you'd get if you bought the box on it's own (ie not via BT, from Amazon)?
Thanks for any replies - much appreciated.
*does this turn into liquid metal and run after Linda Hamilton?

    1. Pay fee
    2. Pay up for service you want
    3. Yes it us the 500 GB box
    4. Yes updates come after those to retail boxes.
BT are supplyng a service if you want it, really you have to pay for it and enjoy it.
If you don't want to pay for the BT service then you have to buy a YouView box for yourself.

  • Need extender box for PC-6031E because of limited slots on PC

Due to size limitations in instrument console latest mini tower DELL offerings do not have sufficient slots.
We would need at least two external for PCI-6031E cards. Any NI solutions available?
    Thanks, Fran

    Hello Fran,
There are a few different NI solutions for your particular situation.  First, you could consider some of the many USB DAQ products offered by NI.  Additionally, there is the option of a MXI interface.  WIth MXI, you can use a PCI device, such as the PCI-8133 to control a PXI chassis.  You could then put any number of PXI devices (including PXI E Series devices, like the PXI-6031E) in the PXI chassis.  Finally, I've noticed that some newer computers now have PCI Express slots as well as PCI slots.  We also offer a PCI Express DAQ device, the PCIe-6259.  Please feel free to re-post if you have any questions about any of these products.  Hope this helps

  • BT Youview box bought privately, can you get bt sp...

Hi Guys, I have bought a bt youview box for the parents through john Lewis for Christmas and was wondering as they're bt infinity customers can they get the bt sport etc channels? If so how? Or did they need to get it through bt directly?
    Thanks

You need to pay for BTTV to get BT Sport on your own box. Even then you will have to be persistent with the call Centre people when you register, as they often tell you that you cannot have it on your own box. They are wrong. You can. My daughter works for YouView.

  • New YouView box seems to cause wireless to stop wo...

I recently upgraded to a YouView box for my TV. The things is, since I've installed this, it seems to cut out the wireless connection to other devices in my home. (In particular, my wireless printer and windows phone.)
When I reset the Hub, the printer then works fine for a while but my phone doesn't and it's not long until I have to reset the whole thing again because it's stopped working.
I've tried moving the Hub further away from the YouView box and closer to the printer but it doesn't help. All worked perfectly before I got the YouView box, I never needed to reset the Hub at all.
I hope someone can help? Many thanks in anticipation!

    Hi Pauline85,
Thanks for posting. Have you tried changing the wireless channel? Take a look at How do I change the wireless channel on my BT Home Hub? and let us know how you get on.

What model of BT Vision box is needed in order to actually successfully receive BT Sport with a viewing card?
I know its got to be black not an old white one but is their a particular model or anything?

    Hi sfield3,
Thanks for posting. Which box do you currently have? If it's the older one you'll need to change it to the Vision+ or YouView box.
    Cheers

  • Anyone swapped a vision box for youview?

I started my tv,broadband and phone contract on the 28th january, I was sent a bt vision box, apparently because sport was included, I'm not happy that bt vision isn't free to air HD, I wasnt explained this when ordering, I've just got off the phone after being messed around for an hour, to be told that to get youview box will be an upgrade and a cost of £199!
has anyone got this upgrade free/cheaper?
    cheers
    John.

... as been told again today I can't upgrade till end of term in ten months time, feel slightly ripped off as the word "youview" was plastered everywhere when I ordered the package, off to ebay to buy a cheap HD box and chuck vision box on top of the wardrobe to gather dust.
You need to make it very clear to them that you are not asking to upgrade, you are asking them to correct an error in the fulfillment of the original order. They sent you the wrong equipment that didn't match your order confirmation and what you expected.
I wouldn't give up that easily. You still have 10 months to run on the minimum term! If the mods don't offer to help then you could try the online chat or submit an official complaint about the order via the "Contact Us" option at the top of this page.
As long as you aren't receiving Sky Sports or receiving BT Sport via the TV aerial using a viewing card  then there was no good reason for them to send you an old BT Vision+ box. It has happened to others in the past and some were told it was due to shortage of stock of Youview boxes. They said, that was naughty of you to do that, can you please now send me the correct Youview+ box as promised! It should get sorted if you keep at them.

  • Can I Watch BT Sport On My BT Youview Box WITHOUT ...

    Hi
I hope I have a simple question that has a simple answer!
I have a recently supplied by BT Youview box(Humax I believe). BT line rental and BT Broadband as well. I am in an area that does NOT get Affinity.
Can I get BT Sport on my Youview box? If so, how do I go about it?
I used the online chat assistant(32 minute wait) and the person there said I could-but as we got further in to the conversation she said she didn't know how to enable it as she was actaully from the billing department and didn't know how to do it :-( She said she'd pass me on to their techincal people to help me and she'd call me straight away. She did this and asked me to close ALL BT windows on my computer before she could pass me on. I did this. Only to find I had been put in a queue for some Bt helpline :-( After 38 minutes of being told BT were very busy, but that they would get to my call as soon as possible-the call simply disconnected. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, not sure why they treat customers like that but it certainly makes you think twice about migrating to SKY :-(
Anyway, I've spent ages on the phone and the computer trying to enable BT Sport without success. All I really want to know is: can I have BT Sport on my recently supplied BT Youview box with BT Broadband on a BT line? If I can, how do I do it? If not, will it be available to me any time soon?
I hope I have given enough info to help answer this simple question but if not PLEASE don't hesitate to ask for more detail.
Many, many thanks to anyone that can help clear up this frustrating issue for me :-)
    Heraldic

Thanks for that. The thought of trying to get back through to BT again fills me full of dread :-( I think I'll pass on that and give up hope.
    Thanks again for the help.

You would really have to speak to BT about that. (sorry). They would have to release you from your current contract and restart you with a BT vision box.
My fear is that they would charge you for the Youview box you currently have as it only becomes "your" box after you have completed a 1 year contract.

  • TalkTalk box for youview?

I am a new bt customer due to be activated next week with phoneline and unimited regular broadband.
I am interested in recieving bt vision also but have not ordered it yet depending if i can get a definitive answer for my question,so.....
I have a talk talk Huawei branded youview box,and i was wondering if i would be able to recieve bt visions subscription packages through it rather than recieving a new youview box through bt.
I have asked the same question to bt via the online chat service and they said i could,so just wondering if anyone has any experience of this or have heard of anyone with experience of it.
I have searched the web extensivley but can not find the difinitive answer that i require.
Looking forward to getting some sort of answer soon, and many thanks for taking the time to read my post.p
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I suggest you go back and have a look through the BTTV product web pages again. It's made pretty clear that for the extra live channels over broadband you need an Infinity connection.
I'm not familiar with the TalkTalk TV delivery system, but BT have made the strategic decision to go with a high quality multicast system built around the Infinity VDSL broadband as a baseline spec. The SD pictures for the live Infinity broadband channels are of a higher quality than the SD on-demand which is built around older ADSL technologies. The HD pictures are very good indeed. This decision means BT are putting in place an infrastructure that should serve customers well for high quality SD and HD (and possibly even UltraHD) TV with PVR+ functionality for many years to come.
It's a common question on these forums.

  • Do I still need a Youview box?

Maybe a slightly strange question for this forum but I have just bought my first Smart TV and am wondering what the benefits of keeping the BT TV contract are. From what I can tell, the main difference between the box and my TV functions is being able to record one programme and watch something different. I currently have the older black BT Vision box so guess an upgrade is in order if I stick with it.
Can anyone offer any pointers on what else the box has to offer - picture quality, apps, BT Sport (can I get the app directly on my TV?). Any thoughts welcome.

You can get BT Sport on a YouView box if you are on an appropriate BT TV package and if your line is suitable.  You would have to check on the BT Sport web page to find that out.
The YouView box has built-in Freeview HD tuners, so it can receive and record HD channels.  YouView also has some add-on players.  These may or may not also be available on your smart TV.

  • Refund for YouView Box After Contract Termination

    Hi,
I received a charge for my YouView Box on my final bill.  I sent it back as requested, but never received a refund for it.
I called the customer helpline and was told, "sorry I cannot issue a refund as you're not longer a customer and nothing can be done".
I'm sure this isn't the case.  I'd rather not go through the hassle of writing and posting letters as it would waste mine and BT's time.
I'd be grateful if one of the moderators could please help?
    Thanks,
    Matt
