Do I re-register a new install and What about 64bit on installation?
I am putting CS4 Web Premium and putting it on a new PC. The installation asks me to register but it's already registered - what should I do?
Also, this installation is going onto a Quad Core PC with Vista 64 bit. Do I have to do anything different during installation if I am putting it on a 64 bit PC?

I think you mean deactivate on the old computer - which I did.
I have installed and everything's up and running fine. Moving from an Athlon 34000+ sytem to a Phenom Quad Core based machine is already making a difference in Illustrator and PS - although it could be the 8GB RAM too. I reckon that I could now get CS4 to make me a cup of tea! I can see that PS offers two program options; one for a 64bit start up.
I presume that I can just ignore the registration request? I can't see the point of doing it again and it is a fully legit copy.

I'm trying to find out information on how to go about helping my sister to register her new nano and load on CD's and such. I have a nano and already know how to do this but she is from CA and we want to load it here on my computer. My wife had a problem with her iPhone 5C with no voice on the Maps app. I visited my local Apple store and they said the problem was in iCloud. We did a new install and it works great now. Now 4 days later my iPhone 5 that is tied to the same iCloud has the same problem with the Maps app. I really don't want to go through a new set-up with my iPhone 5. What's going on with iCloud?
I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.

I on os x 10.7 and I'm going to upgrade to 10.8 installed messages already do i have to uninstall and what about my mac os x 10.7 applications. Like word and minecraft What happens to them?
Not until the day that 10.8 is released will anyone know the details but it's doubtful you will have to uninstall Messages. Native Mac OS X applications that run on v10.7 shouldn't be a problem wtih 10.8 but again, we won't know until Mountain Lion is released.

You should be able to. If the projector has a speaker with acceptable sound, that's one option, otherwise powered speakers or a surround system.

IPhoto won't open after new install and restore of back-up

My hard drive just died (for the second time in 6 months!) so I have just gotten the computer back with a new drive. I did a new install of Tiger from my original install CDs, did the download thing to get all the updates, and ran a "restore" from my external drive using iBackup (http://www.grapefruit.ch/iBackup//index.html) to restore all my previous system settings, documents, etc. So far this seems to have worked well, a couple of 3rd party applications didn't re-install - specifically Neo Office and WiFind - but I was able to manually install those and everything seems to be working fine.
Except iPhoto. It won't open. When I click the dock icon it bounces once and does nothing. No little arrow under it or anything. Nothing at all happens when I click the icon in Finder (in the Applications folder). When I searched it in spotlight it told me there was a file called iphoto.crash.log, so I went and had a look at that hoping it would tell me the problem, but I don't understand it. I'm not particularly good at the behind the scenes stuff with computers.
Wondering what I should do now - if someone can perhaps interpret the log file and find the issue if that would help, or if I should uninstall and re-install iPhoto by itself (and if so, how?), or if there is something else that may be causing the issue. I noticed there are a few files relating to it when I search with spotlight but I don't know which of them might be relevant. I could post a screenshot if that is allowed, or post the log file if it would help?

Did you Repair Permissions before & after each one?
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.

If all the above do not resolve the problem, then it's time for an Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

Solaris 10 new install and new (?) hard disks
Ok, so I started a solaris 10 install (5/08) on a sparc enterprise 3000 server. I first did the install on 2 brand new 10.7k rpm seagate cheetahs and I was able to install, copy layout to the target disk, configure Raid 1 mirror, was able to boot from the mirror, so on and so on, basically everything ran accordingly. Then I was told that there was a batch of brand new 15k rpm cheetahs and that I should use those. As I rebooted with the new drives, I got the "magic label" warning, so basically I re-labeled them. I ran install and everything installed as before, BUT when I went to SMC to copy the disk layout to the target drive, the only drive present is the target drive (c0t1d0). The drive c0t0d0 does not show. Format does show both drives. Now, if I reboot without drive c0t1d0 and immediately go to SMC/Disks, the drive c0t0d0 is there. What is causing that behavior? Do the drives already have labels and partition info that need to be cleared or redone? I have already tried to re-label and re-partition c0t1d0 identically to c0t0d0 and that does not seem to have an effect. I tried running fdisk /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0 and I get the " cannot stat device /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0" message. Is there a way to completely wipe out the entire drive c0t1d0 through solaris? Any suggestions? Erickcok, so I was able to copy the c0t0d0 layout to c0t1d0 and that went trough. I verified through format>partition that both drives had identical partition information. I created metadb's to both drives in the specific slices and that was ok. Now here's what I get when I try to create a mirror...

metainit d2 1 1 c0t1d0s0
metainit: c0t1d0s0: overlaps with c0t0d0s0 which is mounted as "/"
On my first install I was able to create the mirror without a problem. What would be the cause?

Can somebody please help me. I am trying to recover my aunts audio books that she has purchased. I have authorized her new computer and registered her new ipod. There is no option for audio books under purchased and itunes is telling me there are no available downloads. She has purchased several audio books in the last two years.
thank-you! yeah, i cant see going to 64. as it stood sound quality was dodgy. good on some stuff, great on others, and terrible on a few. i have some great news...my ipod is not showing up in itunes. again. i give up. it has music on it. its full to the tippy top. i fooled around with some of the things the trouble shooter wizard thing suggested last night for hours. didnt fix it. after awhile i was just going in circles. i will just live with the thing the way it is. but i will say one thing; after reading some of the posted issues other folks are having i'm just glad i didnt put everything in the cloud....peace

"Flash out of date" comes up, i do a new install, the log-in and password windows pops up, I type in password and it will not accept.
I have changed password, confirmed password, rebooted several times, and it still will not re-insall new version.

1,1 running Lion with XP Boot (re-install and what should i use for recovery disk or usb stick)?
i am trying to give my 1,1 mac pro a little love and would like to keep this machine running lion. i also have a boot camp installation of XP on it.
1. can anyone give me instructions on how/whether i can basically do a fresh install of Lion on this machine and minimize the system so it is not cluttered up with all my previous software etc, etc while still maintaining the original XP boot camp partition which i really need to have?
2. can anyone clarify for me what i should have on hand /if/ i need to boot into recovery mode or some other safe boot mode? i recently ran into an issue where i may have had to use the old Disk Utility format function and there was a reference to booting using the DVD install disks. however i am really confused as to what i should have on hand. ALSO the last time i had to do something on this machine i was told to boot into the Recovery Partition and it appears for some reason (perhaps because i had a "non-standard" windows 7 boot camp installation on the drive at the time??) that there was no recovery partition created when i upgraded to Lion.
- /anyway/ i am finding that i have the two ORIGINAL install disks for the mac pro on hand, a Max OS X Leopard and a mac OS X Snow Leopard DVD on hand but i am thinking that i should be creating some kind of USB stick similar to the one i created with yosemite? actually, i am not even sure what this USB stick for yosemite is for but i guess i can use it to boot into safe mode or something?

Recovery can go and get you the software and re-download it and start the Install, and allows the use of Disk Utility and can reset passwords.

Yes. Both give you access to the Utilities that used to be on the Installer DVD. Disk Utility to Repair or initialize and a few other tools that can allow you to set up to install on an otherwise-bare disk or change your password.
is "Safe Mode" something completely different
Safe Mode is a way to start the fully-Installed Operating System in a special way. It first does one pass of Disk Utility (Repair Disk) against the Boot Drive. [Normally this would require booting from a different drive to make repairs.] Then it loads a minimal set of Apple-only kernel extensions, and uses a one-size-fits-all screen resolution. Then it demands your Username and password to proceed.
From there you can fix settings, use the Finder to add or delete things, and check operation with minimal extensions versus all your daily-use extensions. Very helpful for debugging extension conflicts and graphics settings problems, and fixing damaged settings. The next Restart builds a new extensions cache. -
Brand new Lenovo computer, Windows 7 Home. New install of Firefox 6.0.1, set as default browser, don't launch when I click done. Icon appears in tray. I click the icon, and a message says "firefox is running but not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing process, or reboot". It's not obviously running. I can't find a way to make it quit. Task manager doesn't list it as a current application. Uninstall using the control panel uninstall function and then reinstalling gives the same message. Rebooting doesn't fix the problem and gives the same message. Firefox had been working until I tried to update my bookmarks.
No can do. I can delete the current profile and install Firefox, which should create a new blank profile. The message still says "Firefox is already running." I can place my old profile in the proper folder, and Firefox will still be already running. I can't actually use Firefox, because even though the message says it is running, there is nothing on the screen I can access.
After uninstalling Firefox, deleting the two items left in the Programs folder, and deleting the profile again, it still didn't work. I then got frisky and from the Roaming folder I deleted the Mozilla folder which contains the Firefox folder which contains the now empty Profiles folder. That worked, and a new set of folders with a new blank profile were created. So apparently it was the empty folders that never got deleted that were causing the issue.
