Do I "Reset All Settings" for my old iPad?
Just bought new iPad. Going to give my old one to husband. I've already backed up my files from old to new. Now do I hit "reset all settings" to get the old iPad back to factory settings?
No - Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. That wipes the iPad completely and he can start from scratch with his "new" iPad - your old one!

I had Sprint unlock my phone for international use. I backed up my phone to Gail-PC on Itunes and then reset the iphone 4S. When i went to resync the phone after the reset my computer now says the last time it was backed up was March 2013. I backed it up prior to and had no computer error. Now it shows the divice Gail-PC no longer exists in Itunes and only Gail's Iphone shows up. I upgraded to IOS 7 recently, I don't know if this could be an issue. Help what do I do know? I have lost all my messages and data from the last year. This computer does not have a backup. I only have 5 Gb space on Icloud so the Imessages did not get saved there. Is there any help for me now?
Thanks for the reply! Yeah that's pretty much what I figured.... I just find it upsetting that it didn't tell me the reset had anything to do with backing up data and made it sound like it would save everything on my phone regardless. Thanks again for your response

A question about the option Reset All Settings
Hello, I have a question about the reset all settings function in the IPad. I need to keep all of the installed applications on the device yet I need to remove any log in information and contacts. Is this the correct option or would the Erase All Content and Settings be what I want?
If you read the OP's request, they "need to keep all of the installed applications on the device". Selecting "Erase All Content and Settings" will do just that, erase everything.
Faroff, you can remove accounts in Settings/ Mail, Contacts, Calendar ... that would remove contacts only if the contacts were synced to such an account. If contacts were synced from iTunes, you'd have to un-sync them from iTunes by changing the sync settings. If the contacts were just manually entered and not synced with anything, you have to delete them one by one. However, iOS will remember past usage of a contact, so even if you remove them they may be recalled by you initiating an email or iMessage to something close to what used to be in the Contacts app. The only way to clear that I think is to do a full erase of the iPad.
As for log-in information, go to Settings/ Safari/ Passwords & Autofill, where you can erase passwords and saved credit card info. You can also clear cookies and data in this menu.
You might be better off doing a full erase of the iPad. Why do you not want to remove the apps? You can re-sync them from iTunes or re-download them if necessary. Or did you inherit this device from someone else and you're wanting to keep their apps installed but remove their private information? -
So here's my problem. I just used the "reset all settings" option, and accidentaly restored an old backup. It deleted all my photos and contacts, but for some reason I still have all the apps from after the backup date,and it also kept the notes from after the backup. The "reset all settings" option clearly says no loss of data or media, so I don't understand why some stuff got deleted. My question is, is there a way to get it back?
If you still can find a recent backup listed in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices, use this one to restore from.
If there are no recent backups listed, your data is gone. Only if you included the iTunes backup folder into your computer backup routine, you could be able to restore this folder and find one of your latest backups listed again.

Today, after it happened twice in 12 hours, someone told me to reset - i thought they meant reset all settings, not network settings. while in the middle of resetting, there was an invalid SIM card again. so a few questions - which should i do first? try to manually back up from itunes (not connected to cloud - will be after tonight!), or eject SIM card? don't know if one will jeopardize the other. also, the last time i backed up was 6 days ago - have taken hundreds of pics since then - are those all lost? is there a way to essentially not reset? i thought the reset was okay because it said i'd lose no data or media. Help! thanks much!

Can Apple Configurator deploy and modify Apple TV iOS 6.0 settings? For instance, what if I wanted to submit a 'reset all settings' command, but not a 'factory restore'?

Pay attention to differences in power connection depending on whether or not you have AppleTV2 or AppleTV 3.
Also some microUSB leads don't seem to work - try another if you can. Disconnect superfluous USB device/hubs too if possible.

It sounds like you have Restrictions enabled on your iPhone. This is different than setting a lock code on the home screen.
To view your restrictions, go to Settings -> General -> Restrictions. You can see if there are any restrictions enabled on your phone from here. -
My husband gave me his iPod touch, even after resetting all settings, and even though I have a user name and password, whenever I need to update apps it shows his previous user name, and is asking for his password. How do I fix that?

There is more than one way to access the Apps Store and the iTunes store. One is via iTunes on your computer, and the other is via the apps on your iPod.
Just because you are logged in on your computer does not mean you are logged in on your iPod.
The reason your husband's user name comes up is because he was the last one to log on. You can change that by going to Settings>Store. Tap the Apple ID, Tap Sign Out, Tap Sign In, Tap Use Existing Appel ID, enter your e-mail address and Apple ID password, and tap OK. -
my 3gs has no service after updating from ios 5 tried resetting network settings, resetting all settings and restoring from back up on itunes.
telus cant find any network problems and apple is difficult to deal with.please help 3 weeks with no phone and $70 a month not happy.I have been having a similar problem for the last few days.Without warning the signal will just completely duck out leaving the device searching for several minutes before settling on a no signal message.
Sometimes restarting the device, toggling data and 3g settings or toggling Airplane Mode will set things right. However, a lot of the time I've been left without a working phone.
I don't believe this is a SIM issue, as I had to change my SIM only one month ago for another signal related problem. Again any help would be appreciated here as well. -
i have a 4th gen ipod touch. i reset all settings and it has not restarted yet. it has been resetting for about 8 hours now. It won't let me restart the iPod touch. the loading screen just keeps running.

Hello,
I just updated my phone with ios 6.1.3 and now my gmail email is not working. When i tap the mail icon it brings me to my inbox for 2 seconds then immediately back to my phone home screen. I have tried deleting and re-adding my gmail account and I have reset all settings also.
Nothing is working. Does anyone have any tips?

Does the "Reset All Settings" option delete app data?
I have upgraded from a 16GB iPhone 4S to a 64GB iPhone 6. I restored my new phone from a backup of my old one just so I could transfer app data from one app. All went well with that, but now the app is sending notifications that I can no longer progress because my phone lacks storage space. That may have been true for my 16GB iPhone, but now I have over 43GB of free space on my new iPhone 6, and it's still telling me I'm out of space. I'm thinking this has something to do with the "settings" of my old 4S being transferred in the backup I made. I am willing to try a Settings Reset if and only if it will not affect app data. If it does, what other methods do you suggest to convince my iPhone it has ample storage space?
Reset All Settings does not delete app data. It DOES reset your home screen layout, however, plus any default settings that you have changed.
