Do I use data when I read on my kindle app on my iPad

Do I use data when I use my kindle app on my iPad

You should only use data when you download the book. As I understand it your book is on your device and you read it from there. The only data usage I can think of is if you are doing their 'sync your book across your devices' then Device one would have to tell Device two 'she's on page 49 now'

  • Phone is using data when not in use. How do I make it stop?

My iPhone 4S is using data when not in use. Any thoughts on how to make it stop?

    Hello Oakleymp
You could always turn off cellular data in Settings to get it to stop using data while it is on standby. Another option to troubleshoot the issues is to reset all settings, go to Settings > General >Reset > Reset All Settings.

is their any way to stop an iphone 4s from using data when i hit the 2gb limit on verizon wireless this way i dont have to pay the fee for extra data

Don't know of any way for it to happen automatically, but you can still use the phone and send/receive sms with cellular data turned off.

  • Why do my 5c and 5s use data when I am on WiFi? And why does it show up in regular intervals of 6 hours? Very strange.

I am really having problem controlling the data usage. It seems that iPhone 5c and 5s both use data when wifi is available. And plus, the data seems to be dumped all at once every 6 hours most of the time. I know I am neither uploading nor downloading 140MB over data at 7am. DOes anyone know how to control this?
I switched off almost all background data usage (except messages). I am not on facebook etc. What is going on?

Thanks for trying Jay's suggestion, zole. The iPhone should still be able to use WiFi to send and receive iMessages. By design though, Apple devices will turn off WiFi when the phone goes dormant (screen turns off) so if you are in the midst of downloading something or a new message comes in, the phone will be using the available mobile data by default.  You can turn cellular data on or off for individual applications http://vz.to/1IuZJIM instead of completely shutting off the cellular data. In that same section, you can see what applications may be using more cellular data than others to go into that specific app for settings (for example, if Facebook is using a lot of data, go into the application's settings and make sure the video autoplay is turned to WiFi only).

  • NFL Mobile App Used Data When Not Open

I used the NFL Mobile App last night for the first time. I connected to my WIFI thinking it wouldn't use any data. But it did anyway. And then during the night when the app was closed it used a whole lot of data on its own. I have notifications turned off. Why should this be using data when not open? And why should it be using data when on WIFI?

To have to go to settings, apps, find the app and then force stop is
a lot of steps just to stop an app. Not really an acceptable solution.
However, I re-installed the app. Opened it to make sure it worked ok. Made
sure my WIFI was on during all this. Then went to apps and did a force stop.
Took several tries to get it to stop for some reason. Later I noticed my phone
seemed to be using a lot of battery for some reason. Re-booted phone to make
sure all apps had closed. Went back in and checked the NFL app. It was no
longer stopped. I force stopped it again. Took several tries. Waited a few minutes
and checked again. It was no longer stopped. For some reason it won’t stop. So
I had to un-install it again.
Not sure why all this is happening with this particular app, but I can’t take the
chance of inadvertent data or battery usage. So it will remain un-installed until
someone tells me the problem has been fixed. It’s a shame as since this is one
of the perks of my Verizon account, I feel I have been slighted. I can’t believe I’m
the only one having this issue.

Tap the screen outside the app. Still there, double click the home button and swipe the app store preview up to close it. If it's still there, reset time.

  • I always lose data when i read continous using serial

I am developping a application, using serial communication for data
    acquisition.
This serial read data continuous.but when i click on the graph or made
a zoom i lose data in that interval ...
    What can i do

If I understand correctly what you're saying, there is a gap in you data when you click on the graph, or zoom in on it. If you have the acquisition and the graph in the same loop, you could be essentially pausing or slowing down the loop while you are interacting with the graph. I've never noticed this effect before myself, but it is possible. One solution might be to put the acquisition process in a seperate loop and pass data to the loop containing the graph in something like a queue.Mike...

  • How do i use data when i'm not connected to wi-fi?  it won't work

I have a brand new iPhone 4s.  It works fine when I'm at home and its using our wireless.  When I leave the house nothing works - imessage, internet, mail...  I think I have the settings correct.  HELP!

You need to call your service provider and verify that you have a data plan.

  • HT1430 How do I turn off the data when I am not in a WiFi location? I noticed that I am using data when the phone is "on" and I am not in a WiFi situation, but not on the internet. So, how do I turn off the data?

How can I turn off the LTE data when I am someplace where there is not WiFi and I do not want my LTE running up a bill? I have tracked my usage and realize that the LTE is being used even when I am not using it, just because the phone is turned on.

Merely being on should not use any data.  You must have something running - something using push notifications, or push email, prhaps?
So, you can either track down what is using the data and change it, or you could go in and disaple cellular data in your settings.
One other thing to check is
Settings -> General -> About -> Diagnostic and Usage data -> set it to "Don't Send"
Settings -> Restrictions -> Location Services -> System Services -> turn all these "OFF" (this will not affect how you use your phone at all, but will stop any outgoing location information being sent periodically back to Apple).

  • HTC DNA uses data when "Mobile Data" is set to off.

I usually keep my phone sitting on my desk by my computer and when I get a text the speakers make that weird static noise.  More and more though I have been hearing this noise when there was no text incoming.  So I picked up my phone when it did it this one of the times and I noticed that 4G LTE was being used even though I have my "mobile data" option set to off (screenshot is attached).  So I went to the app Onavo Count and it told me it wasn't a lot of data, but there was in fact data being used by "Android OS + Others."  Does anyone know why this is happening because now that I was forced to get rid of my unlimited data plan I really don't want my phone to have the ability to use data without me even touching it.

If they are actually recordings, there is no requirement for a data connection, but it honestly sounds like they are not recordings.
As for the other issue... how are you pairing the iPhone, is it via Bluetooth or are you simply connecting to the Wi-Fi hotpsot?

  • Iphone is constantly using data when no apps are running

Has anyone else got this issue, i cannot turn on my 3g as it is eating data all the time.

    Hello All Who Read This!
I just bought an iPhone 5 on the 21st of March. I ate through 850 MB's in 12 days. I read up on the issue of data consumption looking for tips to conserve data. I did not know there was a problem.
This morning I found out that I was leaking data very little, but daily it accumulates. I am in Barcelona, Spain. I do not have a contract, I am on a prepaid Yoigo carrier.
I happened upon an article/blog by Robert Parks at snnyc.com "problems persist in ios 6.1.2.".
Although his situation did not relate to me, I tried a few tests on my own to see if I could stop the data leak without turning off my celular data and possibly push notifications, I think I found a solution that might help someone:
In ios 6.1.3 goto Settings/Mail, Contacts,Calenders and scroll down to Calendars and turn off " New Invitation Alerts" and also turn off "Shared Calendar Alerts".
My Cellular Network Data seems to be behaving. I only see a change in MB used when I open an ap that uses data.

  • What exactly is using data and how can i keep it from using data when im not using my phone?

So i have an iphone 4 and i have used a lot of data this month(like almost 2GB) and i have barely touched my phone outside of wifi areas. I always shut down any apps that use data like youtube, funnypics, facebook, etc. but i do play some games during my breaks at work but they dont require data to play so to my knowledge those games arent using data(or are they?) i just need some help figuring out exactly what on my phone is using data all the time so i can turn it off. Is it icloud? Emails on auto update? Offline game apps(minecraft, sonic dash, the Mr. Series games?) Do all apps use data regardless? Somebody please answer me. And No im not buying a bigger data plan. 2GB is my limit but it seems as though i am hitting that easily with my iphone but the rest of my familyis usually miles away from 2GB and they all have Samsung Galaxy S4s.

My first stop would be in Settings > Cellular if you are on iOS 7.  This has a lot of goodstuff. you can turn off cellular data as a who, see your current usage and even see which apps have used data and how much.  You can even turn off individual apps form using cellular data (restricting them to wifi only).
    I hope this helps!

  • Does the Apple TV use data when watching movies or TV shows?

Does Apple TV use data while watching movies and TV shows with iPad air or iPhone 5?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
That largely depends on the Apple TV setting at settings > airplay. The Apple TV can download the content from the internet (if available) or from you iPads storage depending on whether you have it set to play from iTunes in the cloud or not.
Of course if you don't have the content on the iPad, it will download it from the the internet and if you do and choose not to use the iTunes in the cloud feature it may use a small amount of data confirming your authorisation to play it.
