Do i use DHL or FED-EX to return ipod?

I bought an refurbed 80G ipod from the website with the intent to give my lil sister the 30G I have for Christmas. about a week after i got it, it shut off and started showing the red x msg when i tried to turn it on. I tried everything and nothing helped. I did an online service request and they have sent me the postage paid box to return it. my question is, what carrier do i use? the box has a green sticker that says "if using DHL call 1800xxxxxx or if using FED EX call 1800xxxxxxx. The ipod was originally sent by FEDEX and we werent home when the empty box was delivered... The paper that came inside it says use DHL, but the DHL website says that as of Nov 8th, they were only doing international deliveries. Im so confused. please help!

Package up the iPod, then pick whatever company you want and call the 800 number to schedule a pickup... or you can simply drop the box off at a physical FedEx or DHL location.
I've not had to return an iPod, but you might want to make sure the postage paid isn't just for a certain company. If it is (prepaid only for FedEx, DHL or maybe even USPS), just call the 800 number and ask them if there will be any problems with shipping with them.
If you're still having problems try calling Apple and see if there's anything they can clear up for you.
Again, I can't help 100% as I've never had to return anything to Apple yet, but I have returned many other things to companys with pre-paid shipping boxes.
Just keep in mind that once the shipper has your package it's their job to get it the address on the box... the only question is if Apple will accept the package or not... which I would assume they would since it's their own box.

    I think the issue is that iTunes (for whatever reason) thinks I have two Apple ID's.
    also, to further complicate the issue, when i try updating the apps from my iPod the iTunes store is still recognizing my old hotmail Apple ID. So when I go to enter my password it won't accept because it doesn't match with the old Apple ID, even though it is the same account (just new Apple ID name).
    I have tried signing out within the App Store and re-signing in with my Apple ID but it still brings up my old Apple ID name when I try to update.

    If the interview requires Windows Media Player to be running to conduct the interview, then I fear you may be stuck, there is not a version of Windows Media Player for Mac - It is for Windows.  Your options in this case would be to borrow a Windows PC or install a valid copy of Windows on your MacBook under BootCamp.

It's definitely not my charger because both of my phones charge in a wall outlet, and my iPhone 4 charges through the computer. Just not the iPhone 3GS....     You cannot do this.  iPhones have to be activated with a service plan before any of the features, including the iPod features can be used.

    If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to a different iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
    When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:

    Hey, as far as I know you need a sim card to activate after a restore
    It however does not have to be a fully working sim card, just not blocked or with a pass code, I repair/refurb. some iPhones and can only advise to try and get a free sim card from a provider supported on your phone and activate it with this,  or maybe someone can lend you theirs for 5 mins?
    To clarify, I have heard there are ways around this, but they sound dubious.

    Quit Safari, find the com.apple.Safari.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder, drag it to the Desktop, log out/in or restart and let us know what happens.
