Do iMacs come with any desktop publishing tools?

My 2006 iMac came with tools and I installed Print Shop.  My new mac won't install Print Shop (says not enough hard drive space, computer has nothing on it!)
I just want to make some cool flyers for my daughter's scavenger hunt.  Any suggestions?

Your old iMac probably came with Appleworks?
If you are trying to install the old copy of Print Shop, it will most likely not work - or are you trying to install a new version of it?
Your profile shows you are on 10.4.11 - what OS version are you on now with your new Mac?
If it's Lion or Mountain Lion, you can go to the Mac App Store and purchase Pages and/or Keynote. Or, you can buy something like Swift Publisher (great app - I use it all the time):

  • Do any imacs come with a touch screen if not whats the best touch  screen for a 2012 13inch macbook air

Do any imacs come with a touch screen if not whats the best touch  screen for a 2012 13inch macbook air?
    Thx

    No they don't.
Apple's position is that touchscreens are for tablets and phones (in Apple's case the iPad and iPhone) and that OSX does not need a touchscreen - the trackpad and/or mouse is more flexible.
That may change in future but no one here knows.
In answer to your second question, there is NO touch screen available for the MacBook Air (2012 or any other vintage), nor for the MacBook Pro.  If you must have a touchscreen, consider an iPad with a stand and a wireless keyboard.  Alternatively, a Windows 8.1 laptop or desktop???

  • Do iMacs come with built-in microphones?

I have what may very well be a dumb question so apologies in advance. Do iMacs come with built-in microphones? I have a 21.5"-inch flat-screen iMac running OS 10.7.5. I recently downloaded Skype and have my very first video call scheduled for next week. If iMacs do come with a built-in microphone, what -- if anything -- do you have to do to activate it? If not, any suggestions as to what the best external micophones are? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Thomas, no dumb queatios here!
If you don't know the model, find the Serial# & use it on one of these sites, but don't post the Serial# here...

  • Imacs come with a weaker graphics processor than specified by apple

Recently I bought an 24inch 2.8Ghz Imac which really works fine, but i discovered something rather strange when running some benchmark programs in windows XP. Apple advertises that the new 24inch Imacs come with ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO graphics card, however benchmark software programs like 3dMark06 and Sisoftware Sandra recognise the video card as a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600XT; which is a notebook video card and thus weaker in performance.
The video card in the new imacs really are the weakest components, but now apple delivers an even weaker notebook videocard set while selling it as being a desktop videocard. I think it is hard to believe that they mistakenly put a wrong videochipset only in my imac so I was wondering if more people have noticed this and if yes, what action can we take??

    Hi,
What model does System Profiler claim the graphics card is?
however benchmark software programs like 3dMark06 and Sisoftware Sandra recognise the video card as a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600XT
How up to date are those benchmarking tools? If they're older than the graphics card in question, maybe they default to the closest they can find.
If it really is the wrong chipset, contact Apple directly via the Apple Store telephone number.

  • Do iMacs come with multiple or single users

I am going to buy a mac soon and I am going to be the only person using it. Do iMacs come with single or multiple users software?
    Thanks, Eva
      Windows XP
Windows XP   I will be getting my own iMac this November I have a green Mini named PeaPod

The default configuration for a new Mac is a single user configuration. If you migrate user accounts from a different machine, you will have multiple users on that computer when you first log in. You can also create additional accounts from the Accounts pane of System Preferences. In any case, there are several system-level accounts and groups, which will not be visible on the login screen or in System Preferences.

The new iMacs will only work with Snow Leopard, and only the release on the DVD supplied with the computer (the Snow Leopard upgrade disks won't work). The problem is that they require new drivers.

  • Does the new imac come with a cd/dvd player/burner?

Does the new imac come with a cd/dvd player/burner?

It's $80.00. You can buy other externals for less, I think, but only the Apple one will work with Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows and any other applications that will only work with an "internal" optical drive.
If this isn't important for you, then explore less expensive alternatives. Check out OWC for example.

  • Does the new 2011 iMac come with a osx lion preinstalled or a osx lion USB drive

Does the new 2011 iMac come with a osx lion preinstalled or a osx lion USB drive

I just bought the 17" MacBookPro the other day with Lion preinstalled and wanted to install Lion on my iMac. It makes sense that I should be able to upgrade for free you spend all this money on Apple products, give us apple supporters a break. Maybe this is something that Apple overlooked and in the future there will be a fix.
I read up on forums and I finally called AppleCare they said that I should be able to install Lion on 5 other computers but only if purchased in the store, this doesn't make any sense. I feel like I already purchased a copy and that copy should be able to be installed on another computer. It should be as simple as logging in app store with the same apple ID and it be there to install on my iMac. If apple is trying to make everything user friendly, device syncying and convenient well it's not; this is just something they think of. I refuse to pay $30 for another copy. Fix this issue APPPLE!!!
Because if those who bought computers in July that didn't have Lion preinstalled can obtain a free copy to install in 5 computers. I should be able to do the same with the Lion that I bought preinstalled it's just make sense to me.

  • Does my iMac come with ny security softwares???

Hey everyone I am aware that macs are very safe, but I am a security freak, so I am wondering...
    1. Does my iMac coe with any internet security or virus protection? I was reading somewhere that hey had something that came with it.
However i am not sure which is why i am asking you gys!
    Thanks.
    -Ryan

Yes, your Mac comes with security software...it is called Mac OS X. The Mac OS is built on Linux which means it is built with security in mind. Having set up and started your computer, you created an account which a password. That is one level of security since you cannot use Apple's installer software to install programs nor make changes to the main Library without that password. Malware has to ask you for help getting installed.
You probably created your account as an administrator account. I'd recommend that you consider creating a second account and make it a normal account. Use that account for day to day work and use the admin account for installing software that demands an administrative password. The advantage is that if any malware does slip in through nefarious means, it can only affect your user account and not the entire computer.
Don't forget that the Mac OS comes with a firewall built in. Look for it in the System Preferences under 'security'. I don't recall if it is turned on by default or not.
Other than this, do you really need third party security software? If you read the scary news (compiled by friendly companies that make computer security software) yes, you do. But the truth is, except for a couple trojans and a hacked program at a warez site, there have been no baddies found for the Mac in the wild. What has been found is easily avoidable by practicing safe hex - no special security software needed.
No question, this could all change very quickly but for now, go ahead and download ClamXav, an open source anti-virus program. It won't do any harm to the computer or your pocketbook. Then again, so far, it hasn't done me any good either.

  • I recently got a hand-me-down Macbook (white) 2010 and want to restore to factory settings. The computer did not come with any discs. It is running 10.6.8 and I purchased 10.6.3 recently to upgrade my MacBook Pro. Can I use that to restore the MacBook?

I want to give the hand-me-down to my kids so they will stay off my MacBook Pro I'd like to start fresh with the MacBook, remove all the former owners information, restore it to factory settings, but it did not come with any installation discs, so I don't know what to do. I recently purchased Snow Lepoard for my 2008 MacBook Pro. Can I use that to restore the MacBook? Also, the former owner purchased Microsoft Office (ugh) with the computer but again, no installation discs. How do I keep that when I restore?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

I purchased a mini to HDMI cable and tried to connect to the TV but the TV is not recognizing the computer. I attempted to set sound and display settings under the "my Preferences" utility with no success.  Again, I'm not sure if I need to upgrade my OS software Any Suggestions?

Bought an Apple Airport Extreme used and it did not come with any discs. Do i need any discs? or is there another way to setup this airport without using a software disc?

You can download the setup manual and software that you need.
Look on the bottom of the AirPort Extreme for the Model Number.  It's A.......  something.
Post back with the model number and the exact operating system you are running on your Mac or PC.

  • My Macbook pro didn't come with any restore disks, How can I make some?

I was just curious, Macs and Macbooks used to include restore disks. My new Macbook Pro did not come with any so how do I create a set?

Though these instructions are for Mt. Lion, they will work for Mavericks as well.  Making one one of these will free you from depending upon Apple servers if the need should arise.
