Do INSERT if value do not exist

Hi.
I am trying to create sql that does the following:
if db1..names.cpr not in db1..people.cpr then:
INSERT INTO db1..People(cpr,type) VALUES (db1..names.cpr,1)
* type should have the default value 1
Can anybody give me an idear on how to do that.
BR
Soren

Don't know how this relates to JDBC but anyway.
This should work - but I haven't tested it!
INSERT INTO db1.people(cpr,type)
  SELECT cpr, 1
  FROM db1..names
  WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM db1.people p WHERE p.cpr = db1..names.cpr AND p.type = 1)

    VMM 2012R2 UR4 - Version 3.2.7768.0
    Not sure when this started happening since I haven't had to update or create a new RunAs account in VMM in some time, but every time I do, either through the console or through PowerShell it throws an error about The specified directory service attribute
    or value does not exist.  The VMM Service account is the same as it always has been, and other than this issue everything with VMM is working fine.  The full text of the error message is below.
    I am hoping someone has some ideas because I don't have any more at this point.

  • FTXP-error-Domain MWART fixed value  does not exist- Message no. F4341

    Hi,
    I am trying to created a new record for a tax code, and i get this error
    Domain MWART fixed value  does not exist
    Message no. F4341
    I looked up OB40, and not sure how to fix this. Do you know how to check the tax codes? How to validate OB40?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    Please follow this procedure for the input tax codes which experience
    the error F4341:
    1) Go to SE16 and enter table T007A
    2) Hit enter and in the next screen choose the following parameters
       and enter values that represent the tax code for input tax which are
       encountering the problem.
       KALSM (tax procedure)
       MWSKZ (tax code)
    3) Click on the "execute" button.
    4) Take special attention to column MWART which represents tax type.
       This should only have a value "V" to represent input tax (or "A" if
       output tax).
    5) The cause of the error F4 341 is when this column does not contain
       any value or is blank.  Which means that there is no defined tax type
       "A" or "V" maintained in customizing.
    6) To correct this you should maintain the value again via FTXP for the
       corresponding tax codes and complete all the customizing settings
       relating to tax on sales and purchases thereunder. Afterwhich you
       should no longer experience the error message.

  • Error "Valid Value - Value do not Exist" for payment terms

    Hi,
    I am trying to change the payment terms in a Sales Order using UIAPI.
    Although the value i am using to update is a valid value, i get the following error:
    Valid Value - Value do not Exist
    My code is as folows:
    Dim sNewValue as String
    sNewValue = "2"
    oFrm.Items("47").Specific.Select sNewValue, psk_ByValue
    What am i doing wrong?
    Thanks
    Satish

    Hi Satish,
    Have you tried defining the new value as an integer instead of a string? The GroupNum data type in the OCTG is Int, not character.
    Hope helps,
    Ibai Peñ

  • Select from 1 table only if a value does not exist

    Hello all,
    I'm having problems devising a single select statement to accomplish a single return value. I have tried variations of DECODE and COALESCE, but it's escaping me.
    I have two tables that are as follows:
    NAME
    ID, FULLNAME
    1, Senior
    2, Junior
    3, Mister
    4, Senor
    5, Miss
    ABBREVIATION
    ID, ABBREV
    1, Sr
    2, Jr
    3, Mr
    5, Ms
    What I would like to do is select from the NAME table only if the value does not exist in the ABBREVIATION table.
    Ideally if I were to do something such as:
    SELECT * FROM .... WHERE (ID=1 or ID=2 or ID=4) ....
    I would receive the following output:
    1, Sr
    2, Jr
    4, Senor
    Thanks for reading!

    You want an outer join.
    SELECT decode(a.abbrev, NULL, n.fullname, a.abbrev)
    FROM name n,
    abbreviation a
    WHERE n.ID = a.ID(+)
      AND ....Something like that.
    Full example:
    with n as (
    select 1 as ID, 'Senior' as FULLNAME from dual UNION ALL
    select 2 as ID, 'Junior' as FULLNAME from dual UNION ALL
    select 3 as ID, 'Mister' as FULLNAME from dual UNION ALL
    select 4 as ID, 'Senor' as FULLNAME from dual UNION ALL
    select 5 as ID, 'Miss' as FULLNAME from dual),
    a as (
    select 1 as ID, 'Sr' as ABBREV from dual UNION ALL
    select 2 as ID, 'Jr' as ABBREV from dual UNION ALL
    select 3 as ID, 'Mr' as ABBREV from dual UNION ALL
    select 5 as ID, 'Ms' as ABBREV from dual)
    select decode(a.abbrev, NULL, n.fullname, a.abbrev)
    from a, n
    where n.id = a.id(+)
    order by n.id;
    ID                     DECODE(A.ABBREV,NULL,N.FULLNAME,A.ABBREV)
    1                      Sr
    2                      Jr
    3                      Mr
    4                      Senor
    5                      Ms

  • KE0C133 : Characteristic value does not exist  for charact KMVTNR

    Hi Gurus,
    In my system i have the field CO-PA  KMVTNR, assigned to KNVP - LIFNR.
    When i try to create a shipment cost, i get the error: "The characteristic KMVTNR (Sales employe) should be posted to Profitability  Analysis (CO-PA). When the system checked the entries, it was established that  the transferred  characteristic value is not valid in CO-PA."
    I have debbug, and the problem is that in report RK2FVPKE, check that my value is not a valid PERNR. And it is not, because i am assigning a lifnr number not a pernr number.
    I not allways get this error, when i create the same shipment cost in other case. What make that the system check that the value is a valid pernr or not?
    thanks

    Hi Luis
    To me, it seems logical that if the pernr is not there, the system gives you an error
    In the cases where it did not, can you check if valid pernr exists?? If you create a wwxxx char "without own value maint", it should not check for the valid pernr. But with kmvtnr, I am sure it will check

  • Value does not exist in VIQMEL table due to ILOA-ILOAN field

    Hello All,
    I am trying to check a PCR/OCR Notification but it seems Notification does not exist.
    The notification number is not there in VIQMEL table.
    VIQMEL takes reference of 3 tables - QMEL, QMIH and ILOA.
    I checked QMIH table for this notification and found a field ILOAN. The ILOAN number given in table QMIH is not there in ILOA table.
    Can you explain what could be the possible reason of empty ILOAN field?
    Also if you could explain the significance of field ILOAN and how this number is generated?
    Thanks & Regards

    There was an issue of value range of notification..

  • INSERT rows that do not exist

    I need to update (post) a table with summarized totals from another table. It is possible that the matching rows do not exist so I want to insert them before posting (UPDATE) to them. There is a table named BillingDetail that is summarized to insert into
    another table named BillingHistory when rows do not match on 4 different columns. Below is my first shot at doing this but am not sure if the NOT IN clause is correct or maybe there is another (better) way.
    INSERT INTO [dbo].[BillingHistory]
    ([entity]
    ,[plincd]
    ,[pgrpcd]
    ,[pitmcd]
    ,[hstyr]
    ,[corpnbr]
    SELECT @entity
    ,plincd
    ,pgrpcd
    ,pitmcd
    ,@hstyr
    ,corpnbr
    FROM (SELECT plincd
    ,pgrpcd
    ,pitmcd
    ,corpnbr
    ,SUM(qty) AS TotalQty
    ,SUM(extprc) AS TotalExtPrice
    FROM dbo.BillingDetail
    GROUP BY corpnbr, plincd, pgrpcd, pitmcd) AS DT
    WHERE pitmcd NOT IN(SELECT pitmcd FROM dbo.BillingHistory WHERE plincd = DT.plincd AND pgrpcd = DT.pgrpcd AND pitmcd = DT.pitmcd AND corpnbr = DT.corpnbr);

    Not knowing the keys of BillingHistory, it is difficult to say whether your INSERT is correct, but it does look funny. My guess is that all six columns constitute the key, in which case this would be better:
       INSERT INTO [dbo].[BillingHistory]
               ([entity]
               ,[plincd]
               ,[pgrpcd]
               ,[pitmcd]
               ,[hstyr]
               ,[corpnbr]
          SELECT @entity
               ,plincd
               ,pgrpcd
               ,pitmcd
               ,@hstyr
               ,corpnbr
          FROM (SELECT plincd
                  ,pgrpcd
                  ,pitmcd
                  ,corpnbr
                  ,SUM(qty) AS TotalQty
                  ,SUM(extprc) AS TotalExtPrice
               FROM  dbo.BillingDetail
             GROUP BY corpnbr, plincd, pgrpcd, pitmcd) AS DT
                  WHERE  NOT EXISTS (SELECT *
                                     FROM   dbo.BillingHistory BH
                                     WHERE  BH.entity = @entity
                                       AND  BH.plincd = DT.plincd
                                       AND  BH.pgrpcd = DT.prgpcd
                                       AND  BH.pitcmd = DT.pitcmd
                                       AND  BH.hstyr  = @hstyr
                                       AND  BH.corpnbr = DT.corpnbr)
    And even better may be to use MERGE as Ronen suggested, but I want to see the CREATE TABLE statements (including keys) for the table before I try that.

  • How to handle missing data when a limit value does not exist

    Hi guys
    I am quite new to all this OLAP stuff and I don't know how to detect the following situation:
    What happens when CREDITT.MYSERIES2 does not exist? the query then returns V1 and V2 populated with the data from CREDIT.MYSERIES1 and CREDIT.MYSERIES3 respectively (and V3 being all NULLs). I have no way of knowing that the limit has not worked on Series2.
    Is there any way to detect this? (perhaps assigning V2 to be all NULLs?)
    Thanks in advance

  • Re NOT EXISTS SQL QUERY

    Hai ,
    I am having doubt regarding NOT EXISTS sql query,
    I want to select rows from table1 where column2 < column3 and column1 value should not exists in another two tables.
    When i tried with NOT IN clause i got the answer but i didnt get when i tried with NOT EXISTS.....can anyone give me the answer....
    select * from TABLE1 where mark2< mark3 AND
    name NOT IN (select name from TABLE2 UNION
    select name from TABLE3);

    Your query can be re-written in the following way by using not exists clause:
    SELECT     *
      FROM     table1 t1
      WHERE     mark2 < mark3
      AND     NOT EXISTS (
           SELECT     1
             FROM     table2
             WHERE     name = t1.name)
      AND     NOT EXISTS (
           SELECT     1
             FROM     table3
             WHERE     name = t1.name)Go through http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:442029737684
    on when to use NOT IN and NOT EXISTS.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Trying to insert a single row in a table based on NOT EXIST

    Hi,
    I have a procedure where i am doing an insert into the table say
    create table ABC(PK number, valu varchar2(10));
    insert into ABC values(1,'hi');
    Now my problem is that this procedure may be run several times so if a PK already exists, it should not try to insert again. so I came up with the solution..
    insert into ABC select (1,'hi') from ABC where not exists (select 1 from ABC where PK=1);
    but the problem with this is that if Pk=1 does not exist and if the table already has 5 rows, 5 insertions of PK=1 are being done..
    can anyone plz help me.
    thanks

    Why dont you let Oracle handle the uniqueness of the records and you make your code robust to handle that exception?
    DUP_VAL_ON_INDEX exception can be caught in your procedure and no action needs to be taken on that in this case.

  • Key value does not currently exist in the primary key table error

    Im testing out a form and creating a new insert once all the fields are filled in it wont allow me to move on and comes up with this error message;
    key value does not currently exist in the primary key table
    Is this becuase the form contains foriegn keys which reference different tables which fields are not dispalyed on this form?
    If so how to I link the other forms together so that when i create a new record in this form it will automaticaly create the primary key entry in the other form to allow the insert of the referenced foreign key in this form?
    does this make sense?

    It seems that it has the table in which you'r inserting is a foreign key table.
    Take the emp& dept table example in the schema scott/tiger.
    Say we have deptno 10, 20, 30, 40 in the dept table.
    We make a form for emp table and insert into this form.
    Now, we'r bound to insert deptno 10, 20, 30, 40 into this emp form. This form will not allow us to insert deptno 50 as it doesn't exist in the primary key column in dept table.
    Obviously if a department doesn't exist in the company, it doesn't make sense to assign the employees to that department.
    So for this purpose, we need to add a department in the dept table then we can insert values in the emp table for that department.
    For this purpose, I suggest to make a button on the mp form and invoke the dept form and add a new department to it and then insert into emp table.
    The same scenario can be applied in your case.

  • Row Insert Failed - Column name or number of supplied values does not match

    Hi ,
    I am trying add a new field to an existing table in MSSQL and access it in portlets,
    I added the new field in the table, and making necessary updations to the accessing java code seems to look fine. but when i insert the new rwo, fails with exception listed below.
    My code tidbits is as follows.
                   System.out.println("Column Location of outsidePhysician"+ aResultSet.findColumn("outsidePhysician")); // works and returns 24
                   if (anIntake.getOutsidePhysician() != null && !(anIntake.getOutsidePhysician().equals("")))
                        System.out.println("Now Alternate Physician will be added to resultset");
                        aResultSet.updateString(24, anIntake.getOutsidePhysician());
                        aResultSet.updateString("outsidePhysician",anIntake.getOutsidePhysician());
                        System.out.println("Now Alternate Physician already added to resultset"); // also printed
                   }else{
                        aResultSet.updateString(24, "new Physician");
                        aResultSet.updateString("outsidePhysician","new Physician");
                   //NOT NULL
                   aResultSet.insertRow(); // fails here
                   System.out.println("Inserted");
    The table has the right field name too, which is proved when i retrieve the fieldno, based on field name. I tried to delete the field and removing these changes work ok..
    Any ideas would be of help
    Thanks in Advance

    I haven't ever used that method of inserting rows, but from the example in the API documentation it looks to me like you have to callaResultSet.moveToInsertRow();before you callaResultSet.insertRow();Or are you just "inserting" the physician's name into existing rows of the database? If that's what you are doing then you need to callaResultSet.updateRow();Message was edited by:
