Do knowledge of HTML is required in latest website development trends?

Hi all,
I was in a website development seminar in my city last Sunday. The topic which we have discussed might be interesting for forum members. We had discussed many open topics regarding latest tends in website development in different technologies. We managed to close all topics except the one I given below, This topic is still open we couldn't come up with one decision: {color:#ff6600}*:-)*{color}
h2. {color:#003366}Do core knowledge of HTML is required in latest website development trends?{color}
There were so many arguments in fever and against of the topic. I am giving some highlight of two major areas of discussion.
h4. {color:#003366}One group is having arguments like:{color}
We need to get out of Traditional Web site development practice and should adopt new methodology for developing web sites. There are many *{color:#3366ff}power packed & Intelligent IDE's, Robust Web Frameworks, Generalized and customizable Web Components, Java script Frameworks{color}* available which allows you to develop web sites so easily and even fast and furious way. Developing web sites using such tools *{color:#3366ff}don't require to write a single line of HTML{color}*. Then *{color:#3366ff}why do we bother to learn HTML?{color}* When there are so many other tools and technologies to learn.
h4. {color:#003366}While others have arguments like: {color}
What ever the tools or framework you use *{color:#3366ff}everything will form a HTML response at the end{color}* because browser understands HTML only. Though intelligent tools hide HTML creation from user but when it comes to *{color:#3366ff}optimization of the web site, performance of the web site in various browsers{color}* will always *{color:#3366ff}require knowledge of HTML{color}*.
There are so many other arguments also apart from these. I don't want to tell to which group I belong from above {color:#ff6600}*:-)*{color} but one thing I can say I couldn't decide which group is stronger then other in arguments. I am partially in support of both. Today I am member of Sun Forums since last one and half years and I got many quality advices from here.
h3. {color:#000080}Let's discuss in our forum, What do forum members think about above topic?{color}
Thanks,
Tejas

No tool generates html flawlessly or for all situations. You will have to know html to figure out what the problem is with the code that the tool generates incorrectly, or you will have to manually code some situation that the tool does not cover. If you don't know html and jsp well, you cant fix the problem and you're stuck. Also, the code it generates is machine generated and isn't easily human-readable.
I suggest you write your own low level code using HTML and JSP. If you can afford them, I suggest reading books on them cover to cover. One on HTML (actually, XHTML), one on JSP/servlets. Then, about 20 other books on all the other related programming topics (along with practice). By the way, the XHTML book is one of the few that you don't really need to read cover to cover, just read part of it and keep it for reference.

  • What is  the basic requirement to learn EP(Development)? Please advise

    Hi Gurus,
    This is my serious concern.
    I am an ABAPer with 4+ years of experience.
    I am from IT background also. I would like to know what is  the basic requirement to learn EP (Development)?
    Is Java required? If so, is it J2EE and which version of it?
    Also what else, apart from this I should know to become a successful consultant in EP (seen enough of ABAP).
    Please advise.
    I am posting this as, I have lots of confusion in moving to EP.

    You should aware of ERP and business processes to start learning EP.

    Java knowledge like jsps,corejava...it will be good..If you know well,you can play with webdynpro java.
    Also what else, apart from this I should know to become a successful consultant in EP (seen enough of ABAP
    Webdynpro ABAP suits for you exactly for developing portal applications.

  • Latest acrobat developer guide

    Does anyone know where to get a copy of the latest Acrobat Developer Guide? I searched on the adobe site for a copy, but the copy I found on the site is for Acrobat 7 SDK dated from 2007. Is there no update on the developer guide in the past 7 years for SDK 8, 9, X and XI? I am using Acrobat Pro XI SDK to develop a batch PDF Compare plugin. Worried about the developer guideline I have for Acrobat 7 SDK will cause problems when the plugin is deployed on Acrobat Pro XI.

    The Acrobat SDK is no longer structured that way. It is a very large collection of HTML files, with the developer guide a linked section of that. So you have it already in your SDK documentation.

  • Error when installing the latest software development kit

    Good morning. I have a dell dimension 4100 running the windows me operating system. Wen I download and try to install the latest software development kit, I get the following error message when I click the finish button. "_delis caused an error in _isdel". Any idea why?

    The copy that you downloaded sounds like it has been corrupted. Try redownloading the file, and reainstalling it. If this still happens. Let me know.

  • Removing HTML Comments from an entire website

    Hi, I wonder if there is a simpler way to remove 'HTML Comments' from an entire website without having to use the regular expression ' <!-- [\w\W]*?--> ' using Find & Replace in DW 8?  Many thanks, Simon

    Thanks Murray, - I guess I was hoping for a 'button' in DW 8 that offered this function without writing a simple regular expression that works just fine. What laziness!  My reasons for removing my HTML comments also puts me in a bad light!!!  Best wishes, Simon

    Hi,
    How much knowledge of ABAP (coding) is required if you are working as SAP BI consultant.
    Can anyone provide me some link that can give me a brief overview of routine writing in ABAP.

    Hi Abhi,
    Welcome to SDN!
    If you are working as a BI Consultant it's good to have ABAP knowledge. Because In BI we use ABAP mainly in writing Routines, Functional Modules, etc.
    Please go through the below doc on Routines in BI

  • Mid 2007 iMac video card does not meet minimum requirements for latest iMovie update

    Tried updating to the latest version of iMovie and I get the following message.  "Your computer's video card does not meet the minimum system requirements."  I haven't had any luck finding what those requirements are.  What are the minimum requirements?
    Thanks.

    I'm having the same issue here too. I'm using a mid 2007 iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB of SDRAM and ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB.
    What bugs me is that the update shows up but you are not allowed to install it. Either one of two things needs to happen.
    #1 apple allows users to hide the update but still let you know that there is a hardware incompatibality
    #2 don't let the update show up at all

The code for my page is below, and I would really appreciate any help that I can get. Thanks and GOD BLESS y'all...  The error is popping up almost at the bottom and I have highlighted the issues in orange. Thanks again...

    Just FYI my wife and I are the ones creating this site, and a quick run down is My sister has the dream for this, my mom has the finances to get it going, and I have my associates in web design. Now although I have my degree in it, I went to school completely online, so naturally I didn't learn as much as I hoped to. So not to talk y'alls heads off but I'm pretty much learning as I go. So I am very eager to get all the info I can to get this done. But anyways there you go, that is the entire page of code... Let me know if y'all need anything else...

  • My Firefox just updated to 6.0.2, and required the latest Adobe Flash Player; however the Flash installation came with a download of Google Chrome, which I do not want and stopped its install after Flash installed successfully.

    Basically, I just want to know if this will have any effect on my Firefox, and if this will occur each time I update the Flash player, because I DON'T want Chrome! I want AND prefer Firefox!

    Uninstall Google Chrome from Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
    IF you are not satisfied with the Windows Add/Remove Programs Uninstaller, you can use some other Uninstaller softwares like Revo Uninstaller (Free version or PRO version), IObit Uninstaller etc, to Completely Remove Google Chrome.
    Revo Uninstaller
    * http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
    IObit Uninstaller 2 Freeware
    * http://www.iobit.com/advanceduninstaller.html
    Use these software to Uninstall Google Chrome, Scan for leftover files after the Uninstallation and then Delete all leftover files identified as associated files.
    Check and tell if its working.

  • Hardware requirements for latest UCCX version.

    Hello,
    We are looking to implement UCCX for a small call center.  We will have no more than 20 licences for user.  What appliance will support this implementation or will we be able to provision our own server for this install?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Ryan,
    Here's a link to the UCCX Compatibility Matrix:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_compatibility/matrix/crscomtx.pdf
    Your hardware requirements are going to vary depending on your version selection.
    Further, the SRND includes a section that's more direct:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_8_0/design/guide/uccx80srnd.pdf
    If you look in the Sizing Tools section, you'll see the MCS 7816 platform supports <50 agents with 30 BHCA ea (1500 call/hour peak).
    Going a step further, the Compatibility Matrix shows UCCX 8.0 (as an example) as supporting the models MCS-7816-I3-CCX1
    MCS-7816-I4-CCX.
    However, USE THE SIZING TOOLS!
    Hope this helps...

  • Electrical requirements for latest AEBS

    I looked all over Apple literature but cannot find anywhere what the electrical requirements are for the new AEBS. Does anyone know what they are?
    I have to make sure I have enough outlets and meet whatever requirements are necessary.
    I also find the AEBS itself gets extremely hot (even when not in use) and I do not want to start a fire.
    TIA

    I looked all over Apple literature but cannot find anywhere what the electrical requirements are for the new AEBS. Does anyone know what they are?
    The 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) requires a 12Vdc, 1.8A source. This is provided by the power brick that comes with the AEBSn. Since the AEBSn can be bought to be used in different countries, Apple provides the appropriate power brick as required. As such, the electrical plug used will vary based on that country's electrical standards.

    The FTP site does not carry the MSI.
    I am using Altiris to deploy the MSI and so i DO NOT WANT the DLM.
    Can anyone assist - and my apologies if i this has been posted alredy somewhere.

    Hi, glad that was the link you needed. Some info is hard to find but maybe they are working on it. I know they revised the Flash Player Troubleshooting Guide and included many of the issues that users were having which has been very helpful.
    Don't forget to mark your thread as answered please.
    Thanks,
