Do mac os get virus through web browsing ?
Hi, i wonder if mac can be infected by virus through web browsing ?
If yes, how can i protect myself. I have also installed some third party app how can i check if my computer is clean or not.
You can be caught by some malware through uncareful browsing. To protect yourself simply avoid websites you know nothing about, don't click on a link unless you know what will happen, ignore any pop-ups or alerts telling you that you must immediately download something in order to protect or clean up your computer. These are all scams or are aimed at Windows machines.
Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.
See these Apple articles:
Mac OS X Snow Leopard and malware detection
OS X Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
OS X Mountain Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
About file quarantine in OS X
If you require anti-virus protection I recommend using VirusBarrier Express 1.1.6 or Dr.Web Light both from the App Store. They're both free, and since they're from the App Store, they won't destabilize the system. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.)
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
The facts are:
1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
2. There is no anti-malware that can detect anything targeting the Mac because there
is no Mac malware in the wild, and therefore, no "signatures" to detect.
3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
protection against malware.
5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

OMS is up and running but unable to get the console page through web browser
Hi All,

It was working till yesterday, I am not sure what happened suddenly that its not accessible anynore.
I can successfully start and stop my OMS and it gives the status update also .
Also, my agents can not connect to the OMS , I see that last succesfull OMS heartbeat is not current .

I believe in 11g , when we start OMS , HTTP services also start ? , still I am unable to access it.
Let me know if any of you can you guide me through it.
Thanks,
Krishna.Looking over you configuration, it looks like you perhaps have a typo in your weblogic-ejb-jar.xml resource reference. In your weblogic-ra.xml you have defined the JNDI name to be MctEIS11/connFctryCCA but in your resource reference in the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml, you have defined the JNDI name as MctEIS11/connFctryCCA1. In applications where we have an RA and EJB clients, these JNDI names are usually defined as the same and we take advantage of the fact that the resource ref definition in the EJB descriptor makes the resource application scoped (vs. global scoped) so we will usually do application scoped JNDI lookups from within the EJB (i.e. ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/MctEIS11/connFctryCCA")). We do this because we support the WL production redeployment feature which defines as a best practice that all application references be defined at the application scope so they are self contained and not shared between multiple versions of the app that are deployed simultaneously. Your situation may not require use of application scoped lookups so I do not want to give you the impression that it is required. Just sharing our configuration in hopes that it may help you resolve your issue.

Opening a specific page of a PDF through web browser not working with IE5.5
Hi,
I need an urgent help to reslove the problem below.
Using Netscape 4.7, When I am trying to open a specific page of
a PDF file through the web browser using the command below.
web.show_document('http://oraweb/abc.pdf#page=3','_self');
This opens the page 3 and then when I give subsequent calls to
this command with different page nunbers, it opens the related
pages correctly.
But when using IE 5.5, the page gets displayed correctly for
only the firt time. Any calls to the command does not change the
page at all.
Could anybody help me to resolve this problem ASAP?
Thanks
PrejiHello,
I think this is a problem of IE5.5 with PDF-Files.
You can find more information at acrobat web site
(perhaps there is a patch)
There is a setting in the reader where you can say that
the reader should start in the web-browser. Turn it off -
when IE starts downloading a pdf-file you can choose
acrobat reader for the first time. -
Not able to access meeting place 6.0 through Web browser
Meeting Place version : 6.0
Issue : Not able to access meeting place through a web browser
Getting errors regarding database in eventviewer. Also, if you reset the "sa" password in Microsoft SQL Server, you will want to reset it in MeetingPlace. Do this by going to the desktop of the Web Server(s), then double click on the orange door on the bottom right, click on the Web Conferencing tab, and re-entering the "sa" password for both the Database Connection and the Slave Database Connection if both are showing.
Then you may need to restart the "Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing" service.
If this still does not work, you can open a SQL Server tool such as Enterprise Manager or Query Analyzer and try to connect to the SQL server using the "sa" credentials.

How do I get the little web browser hand to appear over my b
Hopefully this is an easy answer....
I have just uploaded my new website and noticed that when you
place the cursor over my image buttons that have "onClick - Open
Browser" behavior tags on them, the little web browser hand doesn't
show up. You know, the one that tells you something is a link? I'm
afraid people won't know that the images are buttons unless the
hand shows up. Any idea on how to make the hand appear? Any advice
would be great. Please keep in mind that I'm only a intermediate
level web designer. Here's my website:

Accessing files through web-browser
Does anyone know of a global way to disable the ability to browse a directory structure of a BEA domain through a web browser.
For example, if a user knows of a directory within a domain, and that directory does not contain an index.jsp file, the user will see the files. How can we prevent this without putting an index.jsp file in every directory?mosidiot wrote:

Yes - The NMH is a local network device, and you can store/retrieve files on it using the computers on your home network using either Windows Explorer, or connecting to it in Linux/MacOS as a Samba share.
However: The NMH requires an Internet connection to dowload firmware updates, and - If my experiences today are anything to go on - You'll need to have up to date Flash support in your web browser to be able to configure and administrate the thing.
(See the new thread that I'll be posting in this forum shortly.)

Yes - The NMH does support uploading via a web browser as long as the latter has a recent Flash plugin installed. For small numbers of files, this should work fine...But for larger numbers of files, I'd suggest using either Windows Explorer, or the Media Importer program that came on the enclosed CD-ROM. :-)
You can find full details and instructions for doing both of the above in the NMH 4xx user guide, which may be downloaded Here. :-)

Hey can mac books get viruses
Asking only about Viruses sometimes gets you an answer that is more narrow than intended.
Macs can get some malware, but luckily not at the alarming rate PCs running Windows do.
Thomas Reed, a frequent contributor here, has a very accessible article on the subject of mac malware:

TFS 2012 - Priority being changed through web browser
A couple of strange things have been happening to our 2012 TFS instance running the Scrum template.
Our Microsoft.VSTS.Common.BacklogPriority field, which I've renamed "User Ranking" seems to have a life of it's own. Two separate users have apparently changed hundreds of our PBI Priorities accidentally through the web browser interface. They
have not gone into each PBI or have knowingly done this, they were just browsing the backlog - it's just happened.
Has anyone come across anything like this before? Could it be a bug in TFS? An issue with me renaming the Backlog Priority field?
Thanks,
Andrew
Sad old developerHi,
I do not believe it is possible to turn off auto updating of backlog priority in Scrum template or Stack Rank in Agile template as of now. If this is allowed to be disabled then I think it is required to disable the capability of prioritizing backlog using
drag and drop altogether. I am a fan of this drag and drop capability so I admit I am biased in this.
Look at the explanation of the fields here
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudioalm/archive/2014/05/14/behind-the-scenes-the-backlog-priority-or-stack-rank-field.aspx
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd983994.aspx
I think you may have to suggest this in https://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio/category/30925-team-foundation-server
Cheers!
Chaminda
PS
This is what
Ewald Hofman (TFS Program Manager) says
" The Backlog Priority field was always intended to be a system field, and our recommendation is to not update
field manually." in http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudioalm/archive/2014/05/14/behind-the-scenes-the-backlog-priority-or-stack-rank-field.aspx
May be the ideal suggestion for this is... this field should not be editable -- Readonly .. or completely invisible as jdlaw64 says -

Dinesh SharmaHi Dinesh,
In the Query designer itself, there is a option of executing the report. So execute it from designer itself and the result will be navigated to a web browser. There you can mark this report as a favorite or create e a bookmark for the same for the future reference.
