Nothing should be deleted when updating firmware. However, standard practice when updating ANY computer's OS is to do a complete backup first. With the iphone, that means either performing a sync(first part of the sync process is a backup), or right clicking the phone in the device pane & selecting backup. That way, should anything go wrong, you have a current backup to restore from.

I have tried to update the software of my ipod of fifth generation and leaves a message that puts: failure when updating firmware. Write error in disc. Please, only it have 20 days. I need help. I have proven to put it in way disc, I have to reinstall software and nothing gives result.

Events in ical on my macbook get deleted when I sync w/my iphone5.

Been having problems getting ical events to merge between iphone5 and macbook. After some suggestions from the community, I discovered I have no icloud in ical system preferences, and events scheduled in ical on macbook gets deleted when syncing to my iphone5. Getting frustrated.

You probably have your iPhone set up to clear out old events. My guess is that the events that are being deleted have already occurred.
Check Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Sync, and make sure the events you want to keep are preserved.

Place that first folder of photos that you synced to the iPad within the main folder of photos that you sync from and select them to sync again. You can place any number of subfolders within the main folder that you sync from and select those folders to sync. Just "tick"(select) the folders in the photos tab in iTunes.

Possible to modify the message clients receive when updates are ready to install?

An upper-up wants the message clients see when updates are ready for installation changed. They want the "Software changes must be applied to your computer after [date]" changed to something else. Is this possible? (See the image below)

Will the app specific files get deleted when i remove/uninstall an app from iPad

I mean those files added to an app using iTunes. For example, pdf files added to a reader.
Do these files get deleted when i delete an app from iPad?

Why doesn't the older updater version get deleted when you update the Ipod

I just downloaded the iPod Updater 2006-01-10 and updated my new iPod.
Which caused me to have 3 updaters on my PC I was able to delete iPod Updater 2005-09-23 but when I try to delete iPod Updater 2005-02-07 it will not delete. I used the add/remove programs to delte the first one. And I deleted the setup icon for that one too.

Well I don't have an answer to that but yeah I also did noticed when I updated to the new iPod updater and I had to remove it too; just wanted to say that incase you thought it wasn't normal

Exchange Server messages won't get delete when i am off-line

i have noticed that whenever i use my macbook air with snow leopard on an airplane, and i try to delete messages that i have received through my company's exchange server from the mail application, my messages get temporary deleted and then they pop up again.
similarly there are some issues with multiple copies of drafts being saved and i have also noticed that some messages with attachments do not get downloaded straight away.
has anyone else experienced this?

Based on the description, you got the error message when you update the apps from version 1.0 to 1.1.
From the error message, it seems the menifest include some settings no allowed in the new version. Would you mind sharing more detail about how you update the project?

Presets and defaults get deleted when InDesign CS3 crashes

Every few days InDesign CS3 crashes. I don't know why, but that's not even the issue here. The problem is that when it does, all of my presets and default settings get erased.
Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening?
If I save my default settings (by which I mean measurements, color palette, default fonts, stuff like that) as a workspace, will that allow me to import it all again when it does happen? Or will my workspaces get deleted too?
This is getting really really really frustrating and I'd appreciate any advice on the matter!

Read through the prior threads Peter posted. I see no solution offered. I
too have had this problem on two separate workstations from the day ID CS3
was installed. Intermitant, but it can be made to happen quite easily. I
have never had a problem with printing, just opening multiple files through
explorer.
I spend hours on the phone with Adobe tech support and they also could not
resolve the issue. Tried everything under the sun, including activating only
the bare minimum fonts required by the systems, creating new XP user
accounts, reinstalling the suite, deleting prefs, washing some files through
INX, defrag, turning off all processes other than ID... nada... still
problems. They gave up. So did I. Just living with it waiting for the next
update.
If someone has a fix for this, I'm all ears.

Opportunity milestone gets deleted when empty after EHP1

dear experts,
After importing EHP1 to our CRM 7.0 system, we've got exactly the problem described in Note 1256836 - Opportunity milestones value gets deleted after an update.
But the correction to this note is already in the system.
When we are creating an opportunity without entering a milestone, the very first line of the milestones is deleted after saving the opportunity. This does not happen when the milestone is filled with a value.
do you have any ideas?
