I'm currently storing my files on a Mac. I have older files in both raw and jpg formats that are now discolored across the image. I'm concerned that my system has some sort of virus. I can not find what is causing the deteriation.
Do the jpgs have their profile embedded?
How do you determine that they are discoloured (memory, comparison with some other application, …)?
Could you post screenshots to illustrate the issue?

Read binary files that are wraped in the downloaded executable signed jar
Hello, there:
I have created a Swing application and created a signed jar file and uploaded it to my site. The signed jar includes class packages, and a folder of binary files which are the datasource for my application.
jws downloads this signed executable jar, it'll automatically run it, but it has problems reading the binary folders wrapped in itself (the app is supposed to read the folder's structure and use the info to create a JTree object, and read the file's content as well). Is it the file path conversion problem? Do we need to use URL instead? I tried it after reading some threads on this forum but didn't make it.
As an alternatives, I want JWS to unjar the jar file and expand it to exploded files. I manually unjar it and run the app from command line, it works fine.
Plus, the app is supposed to manipulate the binary files when it's in process, like saving new content back to the files, zip the files and upload them to the remote sql server. therefore, I think it's easy to have it run when it's expanded.
So here is the question: JWS by default is running the executable jar, is there a way to tell JWS to unzip the jar and find the main class in the exploded files and run it?

SwayYou can get to any resource in a jar file in your classpath. The code below will return InputStream for resource.bin nested two packages down.

TS1702 I have have version numbers that are different to the ones stated in the appstore.
I paid for and downloaded direct from the app store Batman Lockdown for the ipad recently and instead of version 1.03 i see in my settings that it is version 8710.655 which appears to be a version not legal or from the apple store. MY device is new, not jailbroken and I deleted the app and tried to download from wifi as well as Verizon and i get the same issue...this is not the only app btw - about 5 of 20 of my apps all have version numbers not in line with the producer version...

Wouldn't this vary significantly from person to person, company to company? For example, we have a ton of starter scripts from previous projects and have an automate prompt generator, so a net new script would only take a matter of days, unless it's something very different than we've seen before.
Additionally, there are times that you want, newer people, to build something from scratch so they can have a better understanding of what they are doing and how UCCX scripting works. I guess I'm saying that what you're looking probably doesn't exist and if it does it will not apply to you very well.

How can I access files that are saved in the iCloud?

I downloaded Mountain Lion yesterday and was very pleased to find out that it is possible to upload several file types from several programms into the iCloud. But now I am concerned that this feature could turn out to be useless for me: e.g. the PDF-upload from Preview" - once I uploaded it I can't find it annywhere, neither on my iPhone nor on icloud.com. I can only access it when I open Preview and look for "documents saved in the cloud". Same problem with several types of files - I can't find anything that can't be opend by the iWork-suit if I don't use the same programm that I used to save it in the cloud.
Is this feature only meant to help people that own more than one Mac?

Thadeus1991Unfortunately, you're right. You can open iCloud documents on multiple devices, but only if they have the exact same software. If you save documents on Preview or TextEdit on your Mac, you can't open them on your iPad or iPhone because there is no equivalent software.
I use Goodreader to read documents on my iPad and iPhone, and there is a workaround that I learned about on a popular Apple fan site that allows me to access my Goodreader iCloud files on my Mac (they are stored there even though there's no direct way to access them). Hopefully, Apple will address this issue and make such workarounds unnecessary. -
How can I extract .rar files that are dependent on the next in order to finish the extraction?
Ex: Part 1 finishes, then asks for part 2, so on so forth!
Trying to open something a colleague sent me, but is rather large. I have 5 .rar files. I cannot extract them seperatly or it errors/fails. Yet I cannot find a program that asks or searches for the next files in the extraction process. Tips? Programs that do? I know that WinRAR has what I need but they do not make a program for Mac, that I can get to work.
P.s. please keep in mind i'm new to macs, my first one! and i really know nothing mac-specific, howver i know a fair bit about computers.It gave me the error when I ran the program, if I need to post a screenie I will. Also if unRarx does work, am I using it wrong? I've got all 5 .rar files together in one folder. Start unrarx, click browse, navigate to the first rar, click extract, then this error at the end:

I have a 500GB server, in which less than 200 MB is available. Yet when I Get Info on the folders, the combined used of them is under 100GB. Where is the other 400GB???
The available space is going down by the minute too, even though I am not doing anything!
when I open the console it comes up with lots of references to com.apple.aslmanager?
but my biggest problem is that because I have such little space left the Force Quit Applications keeps appearing and will not let me work or look at anything!

Advice on .jpg files that will not import
I have .jpg files that are not importing into LR even though they open fine on my Mac. Is there anyway I can find out why LR will not import them? Any advice for dealing with images like this?
Thanks.Usually it's due to Lr perceiving some file wonkiness that your Mac is less picky about (Lr prefers to keep details of such to itself...). ExifTool could probably fix it, without re-creating image data, if you knew how, but it might be simplest to just re-save the file using any software that will work, maybe save in tiff format, to prevent quality loss due to re-jpeg'ing a jpeg, and maybe metadata will be re-written in a format more palatable for Lightroom.

I would like to change my apple Id. When I tried to log out of iCloud the program warned me that all files that are stored on the cloud will be deleted from my mac. I would just like everything to remain untouched and begin using a different apple ID

Time Machine Restoring files that are packages
Whenever I try to restore iwork/pages files or other files that are packages with the help of Time Machine I end up with a folder instead of a file. This happens when I want to keep both the original file and the older version. It makes me worry if my Time Machine backup on the external hard drive is corrupted in some way and needs to be replaced.

Does it happen if you don't specify keeping both? (Try restoring to an alternate location, per #16 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip* at the top of this forum.)
I doubt corruption in your backups would cause this, but you can run a +*Repair Disk+* on them. See #A5 in the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip* at the top of this forum. -

Is it possible to have two USB drives for the IPad? I want to bring RAW files from my camera through the IPad and out to an external hard drive. One of my cameras has an SD card but the other one doesn't have a card that would fit in any of the camera devices I've seen on line. Realted to this, I bought the IPad camera accessory. Can I put the SD card in the device and also hook the external hard drive to the USB port of the accessory and download from the camera to the hard drive? Can I put Lightroom or the Nikon photo editing software on the IPad? Right now I carry a PC laptop and external hard drives with me on wildernes trips. Internet and WiFi are not available. Because I shoot so many photos and they're in RAW I need to download from the camera to the external drive because I run out of memory on the PC (and it has much more memory than the IPad). I have Nikon NX software and lightroom on my PC. I'd love to be able to reduce the weight I carry by using the IPad to edit my photos each night while on trips. Is this possible and how would I do it? I'd appreciate any guidance.
No, the camera connection kit only supports the copying of photos and videos to the Photos app, it doesn't support copying content off the iPad. For your second camera instead of the SD reader part of the kit, does the iPad to camera cable not work with it for direct transfer to the iPad ?
For Lightroom and Nikon software again no - you can only install apps that are available in the iTunes app store on your computer and the App Store app on the iPad, 'normal' PC and Mac (OS X) software are not compatible with the iPad (iOS). There are some apps that perform fairly basic editing functions that are available in the store, but nothing as sophisticated as, for example, Lightroom. -

I have tried using Illustrator and Photoshop but I lack experience so I'm probably missing something. I'd be glad of some help as this is all that is preventing me from marking it as complete. Use Photoshop and the Stamp tool (S) to get rid of the lettering.
Do little areas at a time, constantly changing the sampling point if you want a half decent job.
Also, don’t use a .jpg format for files with lettering.
If you must have lettering use .psd, .tif, .png or some other non-lossy format.
