Do new 1080p movies will play on iPad 2, with HDMI out adapter?

And IF so, to get the 1080p version, can I rent the movie on the iPad, or I'll have to download it from iTunes on Mac? Thanks!

nope, 1080p movies/tv shows from the iTunes store will not play on the iPad 2. I just tried this with a 1080p episode of The Office

    Maybe:
iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Only the 4G and 5G iPod can play HD
Was the move purchased from iTunes?

  • My movies will play on my iPod but not my computer

I've purchased a few movies in iTunes (2 Days in Paris, Inglourious Basterds) that play fine on my iPod—and have bought television shows that play on both my iPod and Macbook—however the movies that I have purchased on my iTunes won't play on my computer. This is the computer on which I bought the movies and I am using the most current version of iTunes. A screenshot shows up in "Now Playing" but I otherwise get a black box where the movie should play (screengrab attached). Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to fix it?

I'm having the same problem.  All suggested fixes from Apple have not worked.  I get the same picture in the corner, and the menu screen will show up too and play music, show the screen shot in the corner for each of the scenes, but no movie will play.  I'm at my wits end -- I hope someone has a new fix to try.

  • Why some movies will play on home sharing and others won't

Why some movies will play on home sharing and others won't

Fixed it! I guess that I had installed avast! a few days ago and completely forgotten about it. That seems to be what the problem was, because I uninstalled it and it's working fine now. Thank you though, you rang the bell that reminded me! (:

  • *.mov files play on ipad without audio

I have recently transferred some *.mov files from my PC to iPad. These files play perfectly well on PC in both Quicktime Player and Windows Media Player. However, when I try to play them on iPad, I get video only (no sound). I have latest versions of all softwares so cannot figure out why iPad is not playing audio of only these files. I had some old *.mov files on my iPad which play perfectly well (both video and audio) so how can I fix this problem.

I had some WMV files which I had converted to *.MOV using AVS Video Converter. I have compared the properties of old *.MOV files which play on iPad perfectly well (using QuickTime Player) with the properties of the newly-transferred files and they are exactly the same in every aspect. Is it possible that because of low memory (about 4GB) left on iPad after the new files' transfer, the audio is not playing on iPad?

  • Authoring Movie For Play On Ipad HELP!!

I am trying to author a movie in After Effects in order to import and play on an IPad.
I would like the movie to play full screen on the IPD.
No matter what settings that I use for rendering or what resolution that I have tried so far, I can create a movie that plays on the computer and in ITunes but when I try to bring it into the IPad, it wont do it. It gives me the error message that the movie is unplayable on an IPad.
PLEASE, can someone tell me what settings are correct in order to render the movie so that it will play on this thing?
Simply rendering it to h264 is not enough.
PS I took screen shot of the IPad and tried to use it as the background of the movie. Therefore I made the movie the same resolution as the screenshot graphic.
    That didn't work either.
I then saved the movie as a >mov and went into adobe media converter and tried to convert it to h264 at 720 x 480. Still a no go.
    HELP!

    From Apple's iPad specs:
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
Make sure your files have m4v, mp4 or mov as a suffix.  Make sure audio also has correct specs.

  • How to format DVD-R so a movie will play in a DVD player

How to format a DVD-R useing HP computor so it will play in any DVD player Bought movie from I tunes

Sorry, but you cannot burn a movie or video from the iTunes Store to a video DVD. The content owners will not allow Apple to make that possible. You can view movies from the iTunes Store only in iTunes on a computer or though one of Apple's players (iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV).
    Regards.

  • .mov will play on iPhone but not on computer

    Hello,
I have had this problem intermittently but it has me a little confused. Here is what's going on.
i have recorded several .mov files on my iPhone 5 and I can play each and every one of them from the phone without issues. Now, when i plug the phone into my MacBook, a few of the movies will not play with ANY media player. For example, if I try to open the movie with Quicktime or any other player, like VLC, it is not recognized. It is as if the file is damaged.
Why can my phone play the movie but it appears damaged when plug into my Macbook and/or copied to my machine?
    Thanks!

    Hi E30,
I think you should have updated media players as you are trying to play the clips recorded from iphone 5.
So, you should check your quick time player version & vlc too.
Here is the link where you can check your OS X version & download then install the right version of quick time player:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/#quicktime
You can also update your vlc player version if needed:

Hope it would help please let me know if it doesn't.

  • TS3354 I have Windows 8 and some of my HD movies will play and others will not.  Any suggestions?

Some of my HD movies will not play in WIndows 8.

This is for the Windows 8-8.1 users out there:  If you have the Pro version of Windows 8 and just recently upgraded, Microsoft automatically includes a Virtual Machine package called Hyper-V client.  It doesn't ask you if you want to install it, it just does.
This may also apply to Windows 7 users who may have inadvertently installed some version of Hyper-V on their computer.
The Hyper-V package installs a secondary video driver that breaks HDCP, which means you can't play HD movies even on a compliant system.  You need to get rid of it.  To do so:
    Go to Control Panel
    Programs and Features
Turn Windows Features on or Off
    Uncheck "Hyper-V"
    Reboot.
This applies to almost anything that requires HDCP, so if you're having trouble with Blu-Rays or Amazon Prime, that's likely the culprit.

I just purchased QT pro and now none of the movies I have downloaded will play.....from the internet and ones that I downloaded from DVD Help

Since you didn't indicate what type of videos you are trying to view (.mov, .avi, etc.) make sure you have the following installed:
    Flip4Mac
    VLC Media Player
    Perian (AVI and FLV support)
After installation, repair permissions & restart your computer.

  • Will I really need a new Mac or will all iphone, iPad updates be cloud based?

Our iMac is almost 6 years old and cannot be upgraded to Lion. I will need to somehow update our iPads and iPhones with a new Mac...or will I? I figure I have 4-8 months with w Leopard before my update days are over with my iMac....then what? We almost never use our computer anymore...Just about every thing  we need to do we can do on our iPad/iPhone. I am under the impression that "Soon....?" all update will be cloud based. Since everything will be stored in the cloud, why will I need a huge hard drive or an external HD other than to keep an emergency backup in the event of a catastrophic cloud failure. I guess my main concern is future updates with our iPhone/iPads.   Thanks, Bill

Late 2006 - Early 2007 all Macs became Lion compatible (Core2Duo and Xeon processors with 2 GB of RAM is what is needed).    As for Cloud based updates, it is anyone's guess. Apple hasn't yet announced one way or another if your fear is going to happen.  Instead of worrying about that, try to make do with what you have, until you must upgrade to Lion because of some application compatibility, and then make sure all of your applications are Lion compatible before upgrading:
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
So while you may not a new Mac, it will need to be newer than the Mac you originally got if it comes to be.  Don't let updates be the driving force of whether you get Lion.  Unlike Windows many people can stick with older copies of Mac OS X, and even Mac OS without worrying too much about security as long as they don't use Peer2Peer software, and only get attachments from people they trust.

  • My ripped .mp4 movies will play in QuickTime and AppleTV 3; but not in iTunes?  Anyone else have this problem?

I used Make MKV and Handbrake to rip 2 purchased DVDs to mp4.  Both will play on my AppleTV 3 and in QuickTime.  But in iTunes I can only can see a still-frame, and use the slider to fast-forward and rewind them.  They won't play.
If iTunes incorporates QuickTime into playback, I don't understand, as I can play them in QuickTime. I really didn't understand after I watched one of them on my AppleTV 3.
    Anyone else having this problem?

What's your output settings in Handbrake?
MP4 is a container format that can be encoded with H.264, MPEG-4, Xvid, Divx, etc. iTunes support common MP4 files but not work with all the codecs.
Try some other settings and rerip it. H.264 is mostly recommended.

  • Video no longer plays on iPad 2 with iOS 8.3

I used to watch videos using the Apple Trailers app, YouTube, CBS and ABC apps.  After the iOS 8.3 update, none of them will play videos anymore.  They all basically indicate they cannot connect to the source server.  Some of them even state my iPad is not connected to the Internet when it really is.
On the bright side, the Netflix app works perfectky fine.
Any solutions would be very welcome.
    Thank you.

Thank you. Probably one of those RTFM items. It worked great for me. Still have the issue with any other app. It may be an issue with storage. Running at near max usage. Working on freeing up storage space to see if it helps. Thanks again.

  • I cannot get my new iPod Classic to play through car dvd with USB.

My car stereo is a Clarion VZ709 in dash dvd player.  According to Clarion's website, this iPod is supported and should be playing through the USB connection, but all it does is display on the iPod screen "Ready to Disconnect".  My new iPad3 64GB WiFi plays perfectly through the car stereo, and it is not even listed in Clarion's list of supported devices.  Any idea why one is recognized and not the other?  And how to get the iPod recognized?  I listed this under "connecting to a mac" since there was no category for connecting to a car stereo.  Thanks!

Do a Hard Reset, while connected to the Clarion, hopefully your iPod is fully charged
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the Red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
