Do NOT Create Hyperlinks

I have Acrobat Pro 8.1.0 and Microsoft Word 2003 SP3. I'm using the add-in PDFMaker. Hyperlinks are created during conversion in the PDF file in places where I have not created a hyperlink in the MSWord file. However, the text in the MSWord file may state "www.websitename.com" it is just that, simply text (not a hyperlink in MSWord). How can I stop PDFMaker from creating links where I don't want them but yet create links where I do what them? Thanks!

It is NOT a link, and won't be a link if it leaves the company. It's
up to each person who reads the file in their software to set this
option on or off, and you cannot stop that. If the option is on, the
text becomes a link at the time they view it.
After all, it's only the same as the user typing in the URL from the
page, no secrets URLs can be revealed, because it is only based on the
text you have.

  • Acrobat X Standard does not creates hyperlink from Visio 2003 files ?

    I am workin in a big company (5000+ employees) and we just migrated from Windows XP to Windows 7 with Office 2010 and from Acrobat Professional to Acrobat X standard
    I am still using Visio 2003 (this is not migrated yet to Visio 2010), and I am not able anymore to generate pdf-files from Visio files with Hyperlinks!
    For excel files it works fine.
    What do we need to do? is there an extra Visio (2003) Add-In module needed for Acrobat X, or do we need to purchase another Acrobat version?
    Please Help!

    Should you submit a use/business need to have the company IT group install Acrobat Pro another reference to add to what Bernd provided is at:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html
    Scroll down to the information for MS Visio.
    You will observe that for Vision 2010 (which you'll most likely be migrated to) you must have the PDFMaker asociated with Acrobat Pro X (for 32-bit only - no support for 64-bit Visio).
    Be well...

  • Inspector not enabling hyperlinks to be created

    I am unable to create hyperlinks in any shape or form, (this is the first time I have tried it out on a website) whether to a photo or to text from a website, as all the options on Inspector are grayed out. I have seen a similar post but this refers to a file being deleted, being reinstated and then restarting iweb, and it has not been closed, so am not sure if this works or not.
    Could anyone provide simple, specific instructions on what has actually gone wrong, and what I need to do to get this rectified? Thank You.

    Jillyem wrote:
    why is this?
    Because much of iweb pages are rendered by javascript widgets and there are set rules for those widgets. In photos page, it is no hyperlinks.
    Is there any workaround to get a similar set-up, so that I can display a list of photographs with captions and then have hyperlinks fro them, similar to a menu system, to a series of other photographs?
    Yes, but you have to *know how iweb works and its widgets*, I've done all kind of things in photos page with my widgets leveraged from iweb wdigets, here are couple ex:
    http://widgets.cyclosaurus.com/Lytebox/Photos.html
    http://widgets.cyclosaurus.com/FancyZoom/Photos.html
    those pages look pretty much the same as other photos ages, but my widgets change photos page thumbnails behavior, unfortunately no one here seems to understand iweb widgets.

  • Bookmark tree structure using Microsoft word 2007 not creating properly

    I have a word document file in MS office 2007. When i am converting the word document to a PDF file using the HEADING option , the bookmarks tree structure  in the PDF file is not created properly. Means that the between content of a topic is also read
    as a bookmark heading while conversion. Only the heading of a topic should be read as a bookmark and the sub heading as a sub-bookmark but the content should not come in the tree structure of bookmarks in a PDF file..
    For Example:- if MICROSOFT is the heading of any xyz.doc then it should be the parent bookmark. . but in my case , MICROSOFT is coming as a bookmark but the content inside this is also created as a bookmark..
    So my question is that what is the internal structure of the of the MS word 2007 to convert a doc to a PDF file???
    Because it is not creating the bookmarks tree structure properly...and taking the content randomly from the middle of a topic and adding it in the bookmark tree structure...(which should not happen). The font throughout the doc is the same and aligned properly..so
    why it is randomly taking the between text as a bookmark...???
    what is the root cause of this bug..?? how can this problem be solved..?? is there any sort of change have to be done in my word doc.?
    i need an urgent help regarding this...
    NOTE:- I am using MS office 2007.

    I tried this but didnt work for mr. Can you help? How did you PDFed??
    It works for me in Word 2010 (or later) using Save As PDF. It did not work in Word 2007 using the Adobe Acrobat PDF printer nor using Word 2007's save as pdf utility. (The hyperlink showed up but was not active.) It did work using the Acrobat tab in Word
    2007 (this requires Adobe Acrobat).
    I did this by:
    first creating the text box with the hyperlink in the body of the document and moving it into the footer area (but still not in the footer itself).
    Then I used the Format tab of Text Box Tools and the Postion button (More Layout Options).
    I gave it an absolute vertical position relative to the page.
    Then I cut the text box, went into the footer, and pasted it there.
    It might have worked to just create the text box in the footer itself.
    I personally prefer it that the header and footer are not part of the active page when I am typing. This hyperlink is not clickable in Word without going into the header/footer view and I'm fine with that. The QAT workaround is just fine.

    In MS Outlook 2010 Add in Create pdf- does not create pdf of draft emails- this maybe the case, but just wanted to make sure this is normal for the program- though I guess one can print as an Adobe pdf but it does not maintain the hyperlinks of email addresses etc. the functionality is compromised in a print vs create a pdf.

    Here's a workaround by the team:
    Right click on the message from Explorer list view or folder view and chose the option to convert to PDF.

  • How to create hyperlinks in Acrobat 9 Pro?

    Hi everyone,
    Is there a way to create hyperlinks from within Acrobat 9 Pro? If so, can you let me know how? I am having a hard time finding out how to do so.
    Thank you in advance for your help:)
    Christine

    I did this from the advanced menu to make all hyperlinks work. All I got were boxes around my links that are not clikcable to the web page.
    Now I cannot undo this.

  • How to automatically create hyperlink destinations based on numbered list?

    I am very new to InDesign and am creating a template for an academic journal. Each article contains a list of references at the end and the references are cited in the main text (like what you see in Wikipedia if you are not familiar with scientfic journal articles). In exported HTML, the citation in the main text should be hyperlinked to the coressponding reference in the reference list. I have two questions:
    1) It is possible to ask paragraphy style to assign each numbered item a hyperlink destination? If this is possible, I can then manually inserted hyperlinks in the main text.
    2) one step further, is there any way (e.g. script) which can then insert hyperlink to those destinations based on pattern match? For example, in main text, the citation to reference #1 appear in the text as [1] which should be hyperlinked to reference #1.
    One more question, is there anyone who knows how academic journals handle the flow from InDesign to html? Certainly, the exported html cannot go directly online without further editing.
    Thank you.

    Hi Eric,
    I posted the script here. But it should be adjusted to your particular document. (Anyone with basic scripting knowledge can do this). I am sure it won’t work as it is. I assume that “comments” and “references” are in two different stories.
    Can I have the scripts from you (for a fee or free)?
    I don't sell my scripts: they're free.
    Can the scripts handle the pattens like these [3], [1-5], [3,4], [6, 8, 11-13]?
    This script can't, but another handles both single page numbers and page ranges like so:
    I can post it as well.
    Now I’d like to make one thing clear:
    I made a set of scripts for creating hyperlinks in InDesign documents for further exporting them to ePub/HTML. I can’t make a script that would work for everyone because all books are very different. I simply adjusted scripts for every book I had to work with (mainly changing GREP expressions and names of styles) and I have numerous variations of scripts. I can post them if someone is interested but you should be aware that they have to be reworked.

  • My customer wants to create hyperlinks in the editor - surely this is possible?  And, if so, how?

    My customer simply wants to create hyperlinks when adding content to her site; this doesn't seem possible within the Muse editing interface.  It must be, surely?  That's the most basic thing to do with a web page.

    At current stage In browser editing does not includes hyperlinks , but that’s definitely a request we hear often. Unfortunately we can’t comment on what features are coming to Adobe Muse, but please know the team is listening!
    Thanks,

  • Problem in create Hyperlink

    Hi All,
    I create hyperlink by finding http and www in my active document.                //Works well
    But the problem is, if the url or websites contents coming twice or above then I found error   //not able to create hyperlink source with the same name
    i.e., www.gmail.com (comes 2 or more time in the document, then the below code is not working fine)
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;

        var myHyperlink = app.activeDocument.hyperlinks.add(myHyperlinkSource, myHyperlinkURLDestination, {name: myFind.contents})
    //    var myHyperlink = app.activeDocument.hyperlinks.add(myHyperlinkSource, myHyperlinkURLDestination, {name: myFind.contents+count++})
    Please find the screenshot for your more references.
    Please help to find the solution.
    Thanks in advance
    Beginner_X

    I solved this problem by adding an incrementing number in round brackets if a hyperlink name is already taken.
    Another (simpler) solution is to put "add hyperlink" line into try-catch block, but in this case you'll have a default name if the error occurs.
    Here's the function:
    function MakeHyperlink(text, url) {
        if (url.match(/https?:\/\//) == null) {
            url = "http://" + url;
        url = url.replace(/\.$/, "");
        var name = text.contents;
        var oriName = name;
        if (doc.hyperlinks.itemByName(name) != null) {
            var increment = 1;
            while (doc.hyperlinks.itemByName(name) != null) {
                name = oriName + " (" + increment++ + ")";
        try {
            var dest = doc.hyperlinkURLDestinations.itemByName(name);
            if (!dest.isValid) {
                dest = doc.hyperlinkURLDestinations.add(url , {hidden: true});
            var source = doc.hyperlinkTextSources.add(text);
            var hyperlink = doc.hyperlinks.add(source, dest, {highlight: HyperlinkAppearanceHighlight.NONE, visible: false});
            try {
                hyperlink.name = name;
            catch(err) {
                //$.writeln(err.message + ", line: " + err.line);
            if (hyperlink.isValid) {
                hypCount++;
                if (set.tempColors) source.sourceText.fillColor = swatchOK;
                if (set.charStyle) source.appliedCharacterStyle = charStyle;
        catch(err) {
            errorsCount++;
            var swatchProblem = MakeSwatch("===== PROBLEM =====", {
                model : ColorModel.PROCESS,
                space : ColorSpace.RGB,
                colorValue : [255, 0, 0]
            text.fillColor = swatchProblem;
            //$.writeln("Error message: " + err.message + ", Line: " + err.line + ", URL: " + url);
            arr.push("Error message: " + err.message + ", Line: " + err.line + ", URL: " + url);

  • RH9 - Can not create ANY links in linked Word documents ;-(

    Ok, this does not make sense:
    - From RH9, create a fresh empty project
    - Create two word files "Topic1.docx" and "Topic2.docx"
    - Put "Link Here" in each document
    - Save the documents
    - From Project Manager, Project Files, link both documents, generate, update all, etc.
    - Now create hyperlinks in each topic, pointing to the other topic using default topic editor in RH9
    - Save All and Generate the WebHelp project and test the links are there and work.
    - Now open and edit both word documents in word. Add some text to each and save
    - In RH9 Project Manager, Project files, Update All and open the topics in RH9 default editor
    Walla, the full text is there, the LINKS are gone. Actually, I understand that this is how it works, but the BIG problem is that links to bookmarks, other topics, links to outside resources created in RH9 Default Editor cannot be preserved when the related/linked document is edited in Word. AND, you cannot create ANY of these links in the Word documents. So, you have a help system that has really nice update features when an author makes a change to a document, but NO LINKS. Updating a linked document will DELETE ANY changes made within the RH9 Default Editor.
    Does this make any sense? Has my brain fallen down? Is there another workflow option?
    Thanks for any help
    Lyle
    Hummmmm, NO POPUPs, mini TOCs or See Also Keywords, Link Controls, etc. etc. etc.

    I have been observing this thread and wanted to just chip in to remove some misnomers,
    1. If you create any hyperlink from any MS Word document (say Doc1) to another MS Word document (say Doc2) and you import the original document (Doc1) then it brings its reference (that is the word document Doc2) as baggage in the RoboHelp project and the hyperlink is not created to the html file generated for the word document Doc2 (linked or imported seprately).
         thus if you click the hyperlink in RoboHelp it should open the word document Doc 2 (that was brought into the project as baggage)
    2. If word "conversion setting" alone are modified (like the settings “convert references to hyperlinks”) then at times the mapping fails to work, in such scenarios just go to the conversion settings dialog of FrameMaker and modify multiple “other settings” (it won’t impact your word conversion mapping.) Now any conversion settings applied for word will work.
                Hence the “convert references to hyperlinks” is working but you need to update any FrameMaker conversion settings to get it working
    @ Lyle – as now the flow must be clearer so I would give you a suggestion to merge all the word documents that you want to work with and use cross-references to places you want to have hyperlinks and use the option to “convert references to hyperlinks” in RoboHelp.and keep all the authoring in word document so that nothing is lost on update.
    NB – There is a method to create intra document cross references in MS Word
    In FrameMaker the concept of book gives it a sense of collection and thus cross references across FM documents inside a book are converted easily but in Word there is no way to group word documents and thus it is not possible to convert any spatial hyperlinks from one document to another.
    Hope this helps
    Ashish

    The form is not a tabular one. For exapmle I have couple of items say username and password. Below the username I would like to place a hyperlink.Similerly I would like to place another hyperlink below the password. how can I do that?

  • Outside ads create hyperlinks in stories I'm reading

    Hello, I've been noticing lately that what seems to be outside ad companies are creating hyperlink in news stories I'm reading. This isn't happening when I use Internet Explorer.
    I checked with the editor of a site I visit (psmag.com) and he says they aren't doing it on their end, and they can't see the problem that I'm talking about. But, from their front page, in four stories there was a word that was larger font than the rest of the words, and it was a hyperlink to outside ads. This has been happening over and over for the last 2 or 3 weeks on various sites. What is going on?

    Do these links have double underlines? If so, it could be textsrv doing that. You can block textsrv.com with Adblock Plus by adding this to the Custom Filters Ad blocking rules: ||textsrv.com/*
