Alrighty so i plugged in my ipod and the screen had shown the Do Not Disconnect but my computer did respond to the usb input so i unplugged it and then my comp said device corrupted in the itunes window. when i plugged it back in the windows bubble message that you get when ou plug something in said "Device has malfunction click this bubble to find possible solutions" i have restarted my computer the hold isnt on at all. saying its charging when its not plugged in and will not move from the disconnect thing. and i dont wanna take it apart yet and the warranty for repairs is up so there is nothing i know how to do. HELP PLZ!!!!!!

I'm having a similar problem but it appears I have iTunes 7.6 and a 5th generation 80g iPod. Been syncing it to my new MacBook with OS 10.5.2. Originally iPod was configured for PC but I had no problems after the change to the Mac. Seems like the problem syncing has started after downloading the latest update software for Leopard (to the 10.5.2) which included other things in the download (perhaps also Quicktime and iTunes?) This problem with not being recognized in iTunes happened twice in one week - only way to get it going was to do a reset while it was still plugged into the computer (cause it said do not disconnect) but the second time it took many tries and holding down the menu & select for a very long time. It finally was recognized and the sync started. This has me very worried and I don't think the 5Rs and other troubleshooting suggestions are the issue (it was fully charged & I've used the USB ports for other devices with no problems, etc.) Please advise. Can't give it up to service for over a week 'cause going on a trip and sure hope it will continue to work.

  • Do Not Disconnect Will Not Go Away When I Plus IPod into Computer

I have had my Ipod 30gb for some time now and i was using it earlier today just fine. Then ITunes froze on me so i say okay i will ctrlaltdelete and re open. Now when i plug my ipod into my computer (using a USB 2 and original cable) it will not recognize my Ipod and being plugged in and the ipod screen read "Do Not Disconnect" and will stay there. (Its been on that screen since i started looking up ways to fix it)I re-installed Itunes and when i plug my Ipod into a friend computer it reads mt Ipod just fine. What can i do to make my ipod stop this non sense so i can continue updaing it with new songs.
P.S. My Ipod works just fine when I unplug it from the USB.

If iTunes isn't ejecting the iPod correctly, you can do it through the My Computer menu. Open My Computer, find your iPod, right click, and press 'eject'. It works the same as if you ejected it wil iTuunes. If that dosent work, try the 'safely remove hardware' program in the toolbar that appears when you plug the iPod in.

My Powerbook G4 (with Snow Leopard operating system) will not boot up, I get a blue screen. I have tried to start up in safe mode by holding down shift key after startup tone, but end up with same result...blue screen. I need important photos and documents of this laptop, Even if I can just get it started up one more time. Need help fast! If you know what to do, please message back.

In the text you say you are using Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard will not operate on a G4 (or any Mac with a PowerPC processor). Leopard OS 10.5 is the max OS for PowerPC processor Macs. Your profile shows OS 10.5.6. What OS are you using (or trying to use)?

Macbook pro will not boot. I get the gray screen, an apple icon and spinning wheel. I tried to start in safe mode, but get this same screen. The only thing different is that I added the zedge update app to do a sync for adding ringtones to my apple cell phone. How can I get a good boot. I am fairly new to apple computer.

Reset PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405 and then try a normal boot.
Run the Startup Manager to select Startup disk:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1310
If those did not work your disk may be sick or dying.  The top priority at this point is to make a backup copy of your data.
Check the health of the disk.  Boot in Recovery Mode (Boot, Command-R).  Run Disk Utility.  Click on the upper left disk icon.  Does the S.M.A.R.T. status say “Verified”?  If not the disk/SSD is unhealthy and needs to be replaced.  Even if it does not show “Verified” you can still attempt a backup.
Click on the icon indented below, usually called “Macintosh HD” and Verify Disk.  If it finishes with a green “OK” message then all is well with the disk.  If it shows errors in red then you have found a problem to address once the system is backed up.  Do not attempt software repairs until you have secured the data.
If the disk will not show up at all in Disk Utility as your ran the tests above then it may be dead or it may have a bad internal SATA cable.  A trip to an Apple store for confirmation would be in order.
If you have an external disk drive you can use as a backup drive then do so.  If not Google “Hitachi USB 3.0 external hard drive 1TB” to purchase one or go to a brick-and-mortar store (including an Apple store) to pickup one.  Any 1 TB external drive will do.
Assuming it is still breathing you can try to recover the data without booting from the sick disk.
Reformat the external disk.  (This will erase all data on the external disk.)
Boot in Recovery Mode.  Start Disk Utility.  Plug in the new disk.  Select it’s disk Icon (the second one down, left justified). Select the Partition tab.
    Partition Layout > Single Partition
Name: Emergency Recovery 1 (or whatever name you wish to use)
    Format: Mac OS Extended (journaled)
    Options… > GUID Partition Table > OK
    Apply
    Select the Restore tab.
Drag the old system volume (Macintosh HD) to Source.
Drag the new disk volume (Emergency Recovery 1) to Destination.
    Click on Restore.
It may take a long time for the backup.
If that will not complete post back for other emergency data recovery methods, including those from a brody.
If the backup succeeds, use the First Aid tab in Disk Utility to select the old volume (Macintosh HD) and Repair Disk.  If it does not finish with a green OK message try to repair it once or twice more.  If it repairs with a green OK message, will it boot normally?  If not, boot from the Recovery Partition and reinstall OS X.
If it is still not healthy, post back for further instructions.

  • HP 5470c Scanjet on Windows 7 not recognized / will not initialize

Scanner first set up on Windows Xp system. New HP p6710f desktop purchased last year with Windows 7 Home Premium operating system which recognized the scanner on USB and worked flawlessly . Recently rearranged the office which required disconnecting the peripherals, and now the scanner is not recognized .
The product support area on this website says the scanner is not supported on WIn 7 .  How then did it work previously ?
And why would HP discontinue support for a product that still has a long useable life ? Is this just a ruse to encourage purchase of new products ? Should the baby be thrown out with the wash water ?
I am not a computer guru , but suspect a 'driver' is needed to get operational again ?
Thanks in advance for any help offered .

  • IPod not recognized by iTunes. Also iPod seems disabled/locked showing  "do not disconnect". Not responding to anything. Any help please.

My iPod is not being recognized by iTunes. iPod seems disabled and not responding to anything. Permanently on "do not disconnect". Not sure what to do.

    Hello,
My iPod is not being recognized by iTunes or internet
explorer. It used to, but not anymore. It just
dosent show up when I connect it to my computer.
Also, the "do no disconnect" sign does not appear on
my iPod when I connect it. It is still able to
    recharge, though.
have u tried a different usb port?
I read that I have to restore it. I have tons of
songs in my iPod that I do NOT want erased! How can
I back these songs up? I have some songs on my iPod
that are from another person's computer, so if they
get erased, the songs are gone forever.

  • I had to erase my hard drive and then reinstall everything back from my passport external hard drive. Now my iPhoto edit is not working. I get a blank screen when I want to edit. The photos show up in the library but I cannot edit them. Help?

I had to erase my hard drive and then reinstall everything back from my passport external hard drive. Now my iPhoto edit is not working. I get a blank screen when I want to edit. The photos show up in the library but I cannot edit them. Help?

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
*1. Permissions in the Library* : Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
*2. Minor Database corruption*: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
*3. A Damaged Photo*: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
*4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
*5. A corrupted preference file*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Regards
    TD
