Do not disturb

In iOS6 the do not disturb otion was working fine. But in iOS7 the call rings even if the phone is Do Not Disturb mode.Helpless.. :/

Also, there is currently an issue with Do Not Disturb (and Call Block) in iOS 7 on the Rogers network in Canada. It's related to Rogers Name Display feature.
If you are on Rogers or Fido, you may wish to check out this thread for more details and a temporary solution.

Call your phone carrier - that's a problem for them to resolve.

  • How Secure is my iPhone/  provide automatic re-enable of a phone that has set do not disturb.

There are many articles about how smart phones can be hacked to do things not desired.  One I saw discussed recently is that a Smart Phone when turned on
can be send codes to put it in eavesdropping mode where the phone is asking as a transmitter of what is said near it to a phone connection opened by the codes
    sent to turn it on.
One workaround suggested in some discussions was to require everyone to remove the battery from their phone so there is no power for eavesdropping.  Obviously this won't work on an iPhone since the batteries are not removable.  Does the phone provide protection from having eavesdropping instructions from being sent to it?  Is there a way to temporarily disable the phone so it won't respond to such attempts?  If the phone is fully shut down (hold the button down until the turn off option appears and you slide the slide bar to turn it off.  Will it still respond to signals sent to it via the telephone connection or blue tooth link?  Is there a simple way to turn off that capability which allows the user to turn it back on easily when in possession of the phone?
There is a feature to disable receiving calls or messages during a period selected in settings where you give the start and stop of the do not disturb function.
However, I find Do Not Disturb sadly lacking.  If I go into  meeting for theater and am asked to silence my phone Do Not Disturb seems perfect for that need.  However the next morning when my coworkers ask why my phone is disabled, I have to admit I forgot to turn it back on.  What I really need is an option from the easy settings to disable no longer than 2 hours (length of the meeting, concern, movie, dinner party, etc.  then I do not need to remember to turn it back on.
If I set the start and stop time for the do not disturb option for now, if I don't remember to clear it, mu phone will re-enable at the right time but the next day it will go "dark" for the same interval even if I am free.  Was this feature ever tested using real people doing real life situations?  I found holes in the design and easy ways Apple could fix them.  But they keep ignoring my suggestions.
It seems if a feature idea did not come from the design team, the design team does not deign to read and evaluated decent ideas from customers.  I have talked with a number of long term iPhone users who would like such a feature.  I don't know if the competition is doing anything like it.

  • Schedule DO NOT DISTURB differently on certain days.

I go to college and DO NOT DISTURB is a god send as I can schedule it to work during class time.  However, I do not attend class EVERY day and my schedule varies day to day.
Is there a way (or a way in the works (HINT HINT APPLE)) of being able to schedule the Do Not Disturb feature based on my schedule?  FOR EXAMPLE:
Monday/Wednesday, I have classes from 8am to 4pm.  So I want it active 8-4.  BUT, I want it to reactivate on Tuesdays from 11am to 2:15pm for my classes.  I want DND deactivated Thursday-Sunday.
Right now, the only way I can do this is to manually turn it on and off each time.  Before someone calls me lazy, it is far from laziness.  It allows me to have one less thing to worry about.  It allows me to focus on academics and not if I remembered to turn my phone on and off.
Interestingly, alarm clocks on ipads have this feature.  I have multiple alarms set for different days at different times so I never need to reset my alarm or remember to turn it on.
If DND doesn't do this (and wont do it), can anyone steer me in the direction on an App that does?????
I am an apple lover but I have noticed the last year or so, they have been sending out half minded, half finished apps and products.  Maybe DND should be iOS 7 app with the added features and not iOS 6 with such limitations!
Anyhow, any help with be appreciated!

  • I no longer recieve notifications of missed calls when 'Do not disturb' is on

I use 'Do Not Disturb' on my iPhone 5 very often. In the past, if someone called me while DND was activated, the call would show up in my list of 'Missed Calls' and I would get a notification of it. Since the most recent software update (iOS 8.2) this does not happen anymore. I have no idea whether or not someone called me during the time when DND is active, unless they leave a voicemail (in which case I do get a notification of new VM). Is this a bug, or was this changed on purpose? (I can't think of a reason why people would prefer this change, so I assume it is a bug, but....)
Thanks for any insight you may have.

Text alerts never have come through when DND is on. It's not an option and never has been. Calls from your Favorites are allowed through but that the only option in settings

  • I have a frustrating problem with my iPhone 5 post ios8 installation. The ring tone won't sound when phone is locked/switched off, although the vibration does work. I think it has something to do with "do not disturb"

Hi, I have a frustrating problem that seems to have occurred post iOS 8 installation. When my iphone5 is switched off the ring tone fails to sound i only get the vibration. If i am using my phone and a have an incoming call then the ring tone works as normal. I think it has something to do with "do not disturb" ... i see from the menu in "do not disturb" that under the heading "silence" there are two options "always" and "only when the phone is locked" This does not seem to make sense as i have to choose one or the other!
If anybody can help advise me on this problem i would be very grateful.
    Thanks

    Hello Mogulman46,
So what that means is when you have Do Not Disturb turned on, you may have an alert depending on the setting and how you are using your iPhone. So if it is set to Always, then that means that no matter what, your iPhone will not be notified. If it set to Only while the iPhone is locked, then that means that you will not get notification when your iPhone is locked but you will get notifications if your iPhone is being used. Also keep in mind the settings All Calls From can be set to certain contacts like Favorites, Everyone or no one. If you are using Do Not Disturb and you do not need it, then turn it off.
Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • My iPad does not ring when locked.  How can I take off the tick in the silence do not disturb

In the do not disturb box is a tick for silence when iPad is locked.  Therefore I do not know when I am being called as there is no ringing sound.  Can anyone help please.

If you change Settings > Do Not Disturb > Allow Calls From (e.g. to allow from 'Everyone') then it should still ring if the iPad is locked.
For the 'Only While iPad is locked' and 'Always' options on that screen, one of those two has to be ticked.

  • HT5463 Why is there not an option to allow texts from the same group of allowed callers in do not disturb mode? Seems like a no-brainer!

  • Do Not Disturb in Mavericks Not Muting Alert Sounds

I installed Mavericks lately and have noticed my Do Not Disturb schedule in Notifications Center doesn't mute the sounds for notifications. I have the schedule set to 10PM to 8AM, but was awoken this morning at 4AM by emails hitting my inbox.
Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?
I guess I have to go back to my Calendar/Automator script that mutes systems sounds. Ugh.

I'm having the same problem, but only on my new iMac with Mavericks. I haven't seen a solution yet.

  • My iphone 4s will not ring for incoming calls...I've checked Do not Disturb, changed my ringtone to default and did a soft reset.  It will vibrate but not ring.  What can I do?

My iphone will not ring when calls come in.  I have it set to ring and vibrate.  The Do not disturb is turned off and I have reset it but still it will not ring. What can I do?

Check and see that the silent mode switch on the upper left side is toward the front of the iPhone and there is no orange or red showing.

  • My phone is not coming out from (do not disturb mode) in the scheduled off time eg in the morning?

scheduled do not disturb ,then it does not come back to normal in the morning and stays in the do not disturb mode till i change it manually

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.
You will not lose data by resetting.

  • I have 'Do Not Disturb' on, but I'm still being disturbed.

Title pretty much says it all, but here are some particulars...
    * iPad mini, 32 GB, iOS 6.1.3
    * Do Not Disturb is set to ON in settings.
    * It is it not on a schedule. It is simply set to ON.
    * Ordinarily, I will just turn the switch on the side of the device on, however, some games and other programs ( for example, You Don't Know Jack) won't play audio with that switch on.
    Am I missing something?

The Do not Disturb function only works when the unit is in sleep mode.

  • Is the Do Not Disturb mode working correctly in 2013?

I use the Do Not Disturb function between the hours of 11:30pm and 7:30am.  Starting the new year, the do not disturb mode is always on regardless of scheduled hours. I've tried powering the phone off and on.  I tried changing schedules to see if it changed anything.  It still is on all the time unless I manually turn it off.  Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

I noticed the same issue. So far I desactivated it... It seems like a lot of issues are happening on iOS in this beginning of 2013... So far I was not able to find a fix.
UPDATE: An "auto fix" seems to be on its way: http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/01/ask-ars-why-will-apples-do-not-disturb-bug- fix-itself-next-week/ So let's be patient.

  • Do Not Disturb -- any way to get texts from Contacts?

I love the Do Not Disturb feature and have it set to receive calls from people on my Contacts list.  I was under the impression that it would also allow texts from my Contacts to come through, but I don't hear any alert when I receive a text.  Does Do Not Disturb only work for incoming phone calls and not texts?

Yes, I know about the half moon.  I just wondered if there was a way to get text messages.
DND is a great feature and has saved my sanity from all the political calls I've been receiving.
Does anyone know if they plan to incorporate texts into a future version of DND?  Am I the only one who wants this??

  • Incoming Phone Call DND (Do Not Disturb) or ability to send call to voicema

Does anyone know a good way to put a DND (do not disturb) on incoming phone calls? The idea is to send calls directly to voice mail while still leaving the phone on to receive email & text messages. While at work or in meetings, it would be nice to not be bothered by calls especially from specific people. Ideally it would be really nice to one or all of the following:
-Function to send all calls to voice mail without ringing
-An option when an incoming call is coming in to send the person to voicemail with the choice of a prerecorded message such as "In a meeting" or "At work" etc.
-Send specific people to voice mail without ringing, possibly with a prechosen message.

The only option for the iPhone not ringing when a call is received and the same when a text message is received while in a meeting is by turning the silent switch on located above the volume buttons.
