Do not download new JRE

Hello,
I have a situation where the client does not want me to download the JRE if my applet does not find the JRE required. If I require JRE 1.4.0 and higher, but the client does not have it, then is there a way for me to send the user to an error page as opposed to the auto download feature provided by sun as part of the object tag?
Since more corporations do not allow users to install applications, this is quite a problem for us.
Any help would be great.

I do not think it is a bug, but just a requirement that i think should be in most cases. Some corporations are still using jre 1.3.1_01 and are not very eager to jump on the newer JRE bandwagons. Their applications depend on this particular version of the JRE and moreover most corporations do not give the clients the necessary privileges to install applications. Instead it would be nice if i could simply go to some error page as opposed to forcing the client to download and install the JRE that our applications need. If our application cannot find the JRE it needs, it's ok for us to redirect the user to some page that tells him that he needs to get the version we need. I am hoping that there is some way to do this. I did find a way to do something like this using javascript, but that script specifically looks for the exact version of the JRE as opposed to a version or higher, kind of thing.

The option your looking for is available with iOS 5 or later. You need to update using iTunes on a Mac or PC.

I can not download news / information articles in text. Why and how do I fix it??

I could download news or information articles in text and then change the text of the article to present information as I wanted/needed.
What I get now is a page of continous text with no breakes or paragraphs etc. I also can not manipulate or make any changes to what is downloaded.
What happened and how do I fix the problem??
This problem happened close to the time that FireFox last updated.

* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

2nd Gen Ipod will sync with itunes but will not download new song

My Ipod will sync with itunes but will not download newly purchased songs. It is Ipod nano 2nd gen.

If you want to use automatic syncing, you may need to set up or update the iPod's Music sync settings in iTunes. If the new songs are not included in what gets synced to the iPod, they will not sync.
If the sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. The iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES. Select it there, to show its Summary screen to the right. Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary. Click on Music next to Summary. This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music, if not already checked. This is the "switch" to enable automatic syncing for songs.
NOTE: If Sync Music is not already checked, that means the iPod is currently set to Manually manage music. Setting up automatic syncing will replace the iPod existing content. If you want to add the new songs manually to the iPod (instead of using automatic syncing), please post back.
If your iTunes library fits on the iPod, you can choose the option to sync Entire music library. Otherwise, choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres. Below that, select (checkmark) what you want to sync to the iPod from the lists.
One convenient way to set this up is to first create one or more playlists in your iTunes library, with ALL of the songs you want on the iPod. Or you can use existing playlists. Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select those playlists under Playlists.
When you click Apply, iTunes syncs the songs in your selection(s) to the iPod (replacing its existing content). Going forward, to update the iPod, you can just update those playlists in your iTunes library (add/remove songs). If you have new songs, add them to a playlist that is synced to the iPod. The iPod does not need to be connected. The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes automatically updates your iPod with the same changes.

Using a Mac desktop OS X 10.6. I've made repeated attempts to update software. The download process for Firefox quits and a dialogue box pops up -- saying the new version did not download. The security code could be correct but the credit card number is wrong. Be sure you did not transpose digits of your credit card number.

Where are you storing your camera picS? Media card or device memory? and
What is the setting on your reserve pictures memory? You may be exceeding that limit especially if your file size is too large.

N800 updated with os2008 - will not download new a...

Can anyone please assist with a solution to the following problem.
I have a new N800 Internet Tablet which was updated with os2008 on the day it was received. The Tablet and os2008 appear to all be working perfectly with the preinstalled sofware however I am unable to download any of the additional software such as Skype, Canola 2, Gmail tracker etc. I can log into any website ok and all appears to work correctly however when a download is attempted it sticks on the Applications Manager Screen with the download 1kb message and will not download any more. The applications manager log shows 'Couldn't stat source package list' (repeated for catalogue, repository and openbossa depending on the site attempted). I have followed all download instructions to the letter and even restored original settings once as I thought I may have done something wrong.
Is there a problem on the sites or do I need to alter something on the N800 tablet ? Is this a problem with the os2008 version currently being released ?

Contact your mail provider and get the alternate server settings. Change your settings to those provided. Restart Thunderbird. Change settings back to original.
If they provide no other settings then use the following as temporary settings
* IMAP == port:143 Security None
* SMTP == port :26 Security None

Why is my Ipod MB531C not downloading current updates when these apps walways updated before. I have the latest update for my Ipod touch and this does not work now.

An MB531C is a 2G iPod. Those can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1. Many app update require iOS 4.3 or higher and thus you can't update/use /install those updated apps.
Otherwise please provide clearer/more information about your question/problem

The Firefox versions which come with many Linux distros have the default Mozilla Firefox updater disabled and use the distros built-in updater.
