Do Not install ATI catalyst 13.1 update

A recent update for Radeon HD 7800 (and possibly other models) caused almost all BLUE colors to display as BLACK on the screen in Photoshop CS6 (I'm running Win 7 64 and CS6 64) if your image is in an RGB Profile.
If you drag the image window around, the blue shows normally. If you take an eyedrop sample of the color, it is actually blue... but it still looks black in the image window. If you change the image profile to CMYK, the blue looks fine. Change it back to RGB and it's black again.
Adobe support people on chat, with a shared screen, messed with my system and settings, uninstalled and reinstalled, deleted all of my preferences and profiles... basically goofed around for over 4 hours and couldn't figure out any solutions.
After I got them off my computer and spent almost two hours getting all of my settings and profile set back up, I did a trace for changes on my system. I found that AMD/ATI had done an update, Catalyst 13.1, the day before, so I rolled back my video driver and... PRESTO. Problem solved.

Thank you for your post. ATI has known about this problem for quite a while, so they shouldn't have been goofing around.

Confirming what Curt has said, I've been running Catalyst 13.2 beta 5 for quite a while and it's very stable - and solves the aforementioned problems.

Can't install ATI Catalyst

Hate to ask for help, but can't find anything from google. Also sorry if this is the wrong place to post it. Anywho, I'm having trouble installing ATI Catalyst. When I installed Arch I installed the oss drivers, but I can't play any resource heavy games (like Urban Terror). If there's another way o fix it without installing Catalyst, that's cool to.
Anyway, when I do pacman -S catalyst I get:

Actually, you cannot download Snow Leopard. You downloaded a Snow Leopard updater.

The problem was cured by going to <user>/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup and moving the files from that folder to desktop and the ipad backed up and the software installed

Satellite L840/020 - need to re-install ATI Catalyst Control Center Win 8

I keep getting a message from Program Compatibility Assistant that I need to reinstall ATI Catalyst Control Center.
I went to their website and it said Toshiba laptops would need to get this from Toshiba.
I can't find this download.
My graphics card is the AMD Radeon 7670M

It seems to be that this notebook model is not supported for Win8. I found one US model with the same graphic card so try to install Win8 beta AMD display driver offered here .

ITunes would not install correctly with the latest update on my computer and laptop and gave an error of some kind. Now the earlier version will not work when recovered and I have no iTunes at all on either computer. Help?

Servers where patches will not install automatically or manually, Live updates are broken and when checking installed updates shows "NO UPDATES ARE INSTALLED ON THIS COMPUTER" SFC \SCANNOW will not run

Hello, (Bit of a long one but please read)
We have 3 servers in same physical location and server OU etc that are exhibiting the exact same behaviors (we have server servers in this location that are not), as above theyt are all W2008 R2 SP1 and all built from the same standard
image we use on hundreds of other computers, they have also been in production for different amounts of time and we started to see this behavior at different times with them: (Its odd they are all in the same site where there are also several other servers
that are not effected, there must be a link ? )
These servers are all missing several patches when checking our internal tool that reports from IBM endpoint management that we use to deliver patches (they are not all missing the exact same patches some ore or less than other), although
SCCM (we used SCCM to deliver patches until around 6 months ago) and IBM EM are both running (some ptches hark back to the SCCM Delievry days) they are not patching and when attempting to patch manually by downloading the exact patch coresponding to the fixlet
ID and the KB , the stanbdalone installer starts and after some time you receive an error message “The update is not applicable to yoru computer”. Windows update returns error 80070006 for all of the servers.
it is worth noting that other applications and products also using the .MSU extension will insatll so it is not a problem with the installer service.
The above led me to think a corrupt patch may have stopped the sequence of patching so I then looked in “Programs and Features” => “Installed updates” and this is blank for all of them returening the message:
“NO UPDATES ARE INSTALLED ON THIS COMPUTER”. (this I believe is a part of the fundamental issues and resolving this may resolve the patching)
Another issue is that if you run “SFC /SCANNOW” It starts the scan and then returns: “Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation” (Also in safe mode and both from an elevated CMD and WMI is started as a service)
The all three are probably related so I think fixing the “SFC and NO UPDATES SHOWN” issues will resolve the first.
The things I have tried so far are:
Running : wmic qfe list full /format:htable > c:\updates.htm Should produce a list of updates but instead returns : No Instance(s) Available (this is not hopeful)
Fix: Ran the “SYSTEM UPDATE REDINESS TOOL” from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
Result : Update Ran successfully but NO CHANGE
Fix: Ran the automated and manual fix “RESET WINDOWS UPDATE COMPONENTS” here :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058/en then undated windows update agent.
Result : All ran successfully and NO CHANGE
Fix: Ran MBSA
Result : Runs successfully and then stays at “Done downloading security update information” (Log gives no obvious information)
Fix: Renamed the software distribution folder/restarted services (Various variations of this fix online, tried a few)
Result: Runs as described in article with new Software distribution folder being created,
NO CHANGE
Fix: Create/Correct the reg key for windows trusted installer located here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Version (several articles relating to this and the above issues)
Result: the existing key was correct as should be from internal system information gathered , required in article.
Fix: Ran the “Windows update trouble-shooter”
as here :

Result: It detected and fixed error’s but still no change.
The WMI Repository checks out on them all for both of the methods I know to verify “Get-wmiobject –list |measure” and ensure count is over 900 and also “C:\>winmgmt /verifyrepository” and the repository came back as “WMI Repository is consistent”. I guess
this is not hard evidence the WMI is OK, but these are the only methods I know.
I have also tried removing the server from its OU , running a GP Update and then rebooting and testing but to no avail (Bit of a longshot but tried to link the distinction between the three servers and the OU GP is one of them)
I have tried a few other articles registering .Dll’s etc , but I did not take a note of links as I was at the start of this and didn’t expect it to go so long so please reply with anything you see not above im happy to try again.
I have thought about removing SP1 and reinstalling it but this will require a major downtime and only possible if the backup files of SP1 have not been removed.
Any help is apreciated !

Ive been trying to instal osx moutain lion on my mac book pro, but its says installation fot this machine can not be found contact apple care? how do i go about installing osx mountain lion.

Mt Lion will not install on all Mac's. There are some that can run Lion but can not run Mt Lion. You may have one of those.
How are trying to do the install. Need more info on the Mac you have and how and where you got Mt Lion.

Hello arch users, ive been having trouble when installing the ati proprietary drivers through pacman. I followed the wiki and added the catalyst repo into my pacman.conf file. however when i type in sudo pacman -Syu i get this:

You could add 'SigLevel = Never' under the catalyst repo in pacman.conf, so that it doesn't check for package integrity.
And about the 404, maybe your 'Server' is incorrect. I use 'Server = http://catalyst.apocalypsus.net/repo/catalyst/$arch'

HP DV7 6135dx. Can't install ATI Catalyst Control Center. Need help!

Hi! Have laptop HP DV7-6135dx. Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. I can't install Catalyst Control Center.I see in "Hardware" Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics and Radeon (TM) HD 6490M like video adapters. Both this cards look like drivers installed completely.
I'm trying to install CCC to have choice to select one or another card.I've download all video drivers for this laptop model.I've try to install:1. , Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums. If you are downloading this from the AMD site it may not work. The video chipset is built by AMD Radeon however it is propriatary. Unless you download the software for the system from the notebooks support site it may not work. As well you have to check to see if that notebook was released or was given windows 7 as an os. Startup Failure After Installing ATI-Catalyst DESPITE 'nomodeset'

Hi,
First time ARCH user, and I finally got my system up and running (!) with the open-source ati drivers and gnome3. UEFI systemd 64bit intel cpu radeon HD7XXX.
I then followed this guide AMD Catalyst - Disable kernel mode setting to try and install the proprietary AMD Catalyst driver and in the end disable Kernel Mode Setting (KMS) using 'nomodeset' .
But now when I boot I get a message saying "[FAILED] - failed to start Load Kernel Modules" and then the system finally hangs after starting gnome - usually around "[OK]-Reached Target Network" and then nothing...
I can 'ctrl-alt-delt' to restart though, and then when I get to my boot loader (gummiboot I believe) I can hit 'e' to edit my kernel settings:
initrd=\initramfs-linux.img root=/dev/sda1 rw nomodeset
Hit 'enter', but nothing changes - I still get the failed message about Kernel Modules on startup and then finally the system hangs.
What am I missing? Your help and understanding is, in advance, appreciated!

on edit - I should clarify that I did 'blacklist' radeon in modprobe.conf and added fglrx under /etc/modules.d/modules.conf

FInally I managed to boot arch linux.
I had to downgrade xorg-server from 1.16.2.901-1 to 1.15.2-1.
It seems there is a problem with Catalyst 14.12-1 and xorg-server 1.16.2.901-1.
Also I had to replace desktop manager from gdm to lightdm as gdm raises segmentation faults using xorg-server versions 1.16.2.901-1 and 1.15.2-1.
Finally I had to add an entry in pacman.conf:
[xorg115]
Server = http://catalyst.wirephire.com/repo/xorg115/$arch
## Mirrors, if the primary server does not work or is too slow:
#Server = http://mirror.rts-informatique.fr/archlinux-catalyst/repo/xorg115/$arch
#Server = http://mirror.hactar.bz/Vi0L0/xorg115/$arch
Then performs following actions:
1) # pacman -Syuu catalyst-hook catalyst-utils-pxp
2) Uninstall all the packages xf86* such as xf86-video-intel, xf86-input-evdev, xf86-input-synaptics, etc.
3) Install the packages uninstalled in step 2 and install them again using xorg115 repo, for example, # pacman -S xorg115/xf86-video-intel xorg115/xf86-input-evdev xorg115/xf86-input-synaptics

ITunes update can not install due to Apple Software Update

When i download the newest edition of iTunes it saves to my desktop. Then i double click it, it asks me the usual (where i want the files installed to etc) then it seems to update, but near the end, it says "The Older version of AppleSoftwareUpdate cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group"
I have tried uninstalling iTunes and installing a fresh copy. It would not let me install, i have tried deleting the entire program files by uninstalling, deleting all files and erasing iTunes from the registry. Also to no avail. i am now stuck with itunes 7.3 which i copied from another computer.
Can someone please help?

First head into your Add/Remove programs control panel, find the "Apple Software Update" entry, and then attempt to remove it.
If Add/Remove won't let you uninstall it, or you can't find it in there, or if Add/Remove lets you remove it but you still get the same message on an iTunes install, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Launch the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find "Apple Software Update" in the list of programs in CleanUp, select the Apple Software Update entry, and then click "remove".
Now restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Can not install ATI driver for Satellite 1900 notebook

i have the sattellite 1900-203 and i downloaded the winxp driver but every time i try to install it it say
(setup can not copy the fileati2mtag.sy_) any1 has any idea?

Do not install 7.1.0 457 update - it stinks

I allowed my Blackberry Bold to install the latest update last week which was 7.1 bundle 457. Unfortunately it made a number of pretty significant changes that I do NOT like.
1. All calls made/received automatically start in speakerphone mode
2. The 4 buttons that were available during a call are now down to 2. You get mute and flash. Activate Speaker/Handset and Add participant were removed. You have to go to the menu to switch either option and you can't change which options are displayed on the screen!
3. The battery icon no longer displays a portion of the shading to represent the charge left of the batter, it just shows a goofy looking plug
If you're going to make changes that take away things, they should be options to turn them on/off, or give users a warning that these are the things that change so that we have an option not to install.
Needless to say I reverted my Bold back to 7.0

I installed the update on my BB9930 and I have had not of the issues you reported above, it actually went rather smoothly.
I would suggest giving it a try again and installing it from your BB Desktop. My only complaint of course has to do with the battery life of the device, no fault of VZW, that blame is all on RIM for putting out a device with such a limited battery life, on the other hand its a good way for VZW and RIM to make $$$ off of us having to purchase additional batteries, chargers etc.
Re the charging, I travel a lot and my USB chargers I used in my car no longer put out enough power via a USB cable to power the 9930, whereas that wasnt an issue with the 9650. So off to VZW to purchase a new car charger, and will also have to look for higher output USB chargers. Even the iPad USB charger doesnt pump out enough juice to charge the 9930.
Hope you try the update again, you may actually like it.
