Many people have reported that their phone crashes when they do this upgrade. Once you upgrade your firmware, you can't get rid of it.
Nokia care centre will not help you unless the phone is in the warranty period. If you can't find your proof of purchase, you will have to pay to get your phone fixed. This is true because this is what I've been told today, by Nokia New Zealand. I tried emailing the care centre and talking to their 0800 call number.
All I was doing was following the suggestion to upgrade from PC suite. Nice way to lose customers, Nokia!

The 6234 is a variant of the 6233 dedicated to the Vodafone group, and as such its firmware is Vodafone variant.
It is not Nokia's fault that operators insist on interfering with the software on phones in order to promote their own brands and services!!

I recently got a new Nokia phone! It has the firmware for v.12.8.095 When I run the Nokia Software updater it tells me that my firmware is up to date. How can I upgrade to v 2.0?

It simply means the update is not available for your phone's particular product code.
Reasons why a phone cannot update:
1. It is a country variant - country variants often get the updates later, or have updates skipped altogether. A Turkish country variant product code for example, skipped v40 and updated from v31 straight to v50.
2. It is network branded - phones acquired from network providers or these providers' stores SIM free are branded, and will not get updates until the networks approve and modify the updates to their liking.
3. Special editions - These special editions are chartered editions and may never get updates unless taken to a Nokia Care center.

Cant upgrade Nokia N95 with firmware 10.2.006

I cant install new firmware to a Nokia N95 of a friend, Nokia Software Updater say than no updates, but at page the last version is 35.0.006
The model is N95-3 RM-160, we need upgrade because cant use 3G and cant install new software, like Garmin, even no Nokia Maps

Nokia 6234, firmware update advices

I have a nokia 6234 since 2days ago. I updated to the last firmware, but it still have some features that were left behind.
The ones that I would really want nokia to add are:
1. The option to go forwards or to go backwards at video play. And also to the video section, if you exit a video, and you don't open another, to play where it was left when it's reopened.
2. The second thing is that the flash aplications don't have sound. I've copied a flash video on the phone, and when it played, it didn't have sound, and the same was for other flash videos that I tried, and I want to mention that I tried them before on the computer to see if they had sound, and they had.
P.S. Write here those who also have this phone, and they have some ideas on what to make better the firmware of this phone.

Other updates:
3. When I'm taking pictures on something on the move, the pictures made look like a fresh new painting that was accidentally dragged with something. If you can please add an option, something like a stabilizer like those from some of the older versions of phones from nokia or like those from the photographic cameras.

Freetalk Connect me firmware not upgrading

My Freetalk connect me firmware is not upgrading. I contacted the ebuy and they asked me various details such as:
- What is your order number so that we may identify your order? - What color is the light on the device? Is it steady or flashing? - What is the Firmware version you currently have? - What operating system do you have? - What is the location you are connecting it from? - Who is your Internet service provider? DSL or Cable Modem? - What make and model is your modem/router? - Do you have any additional networking devices on your network? (WIFI access points, switches and similar). If so please list them all.
I gave them all the information and after that they are just not replying back. I am stuck with version 1.0.1 updated on 8/12/2011 without any caller id and lot of static. I want to return it back but don't know what to do. It's definitely not brininging good name for Skype. I would rather prefer vonage who are atleast responsive.
Can someone please help me?
The device is connected from more than 2 weeks and I have windows 7 and Mac Lion. I think Skype should intervene in this matter.

Why doesn't freetalk provide a forced upgrade option so that user can manually update the firmware..The firmware has still not updated. I have provided all the information they eBuy has asked and also unhooked, hooked back the device. Am I still missing anything?

If you restore your iPhone to its factory settings the iOS5 update should work. This is what I had to do on my iPad Becuase I had the same problem - I had tried everything else - if you restore it to factory settings you can still get all of your apps and settings back if you go into iTunes and press restore or sync in the settings page for your iPhone. I know it's a bit of a Polava but it's the only way that works - and you can still get all of your apps back. - should take roughly 10 - 15 minutes. I hope this answer helps. Kind regards, ellisb51

Like for many other people, updater is showing that my 5.03.08 firmware is the latest, when in fact 6.03.08 is.

Mine started the update the first time I connected to the internet, but I pressed cancel by mistake, and since then it says everytime that there is no software update available although I have v.5.03.08 and there is for sure v6 on the net.

This often happens when iTunes is not up to date. Try updating iTunes to the latest version, then try updating your phone again.

Memory on a nokia 6234

Could someone give me some advice on the memory on nokia 6234 as my phone does not have much memory on ot even though i have saved everything to the memory card which is less than half full???

I have had my 6234 for approx. 6 months. I have got the same problem. I have tried to update firmware, back up and restore all my files on PC Suite and even found a programme that shows you invisible folders on your 6234. All to no avail. I have got nothing apart from 6kb of things on my phone and i can't send txt messages as memory is full!! As a last resort i have taken it back to the shop and will collect it on Wednesday with the software being re-installed. Hopefully that will work although i do feel that it is going to be a repetive problem. If anyone does have any solutions that do work please let me know. Cheers.

Help with Nokia 6234

Hopefully someone can help me with this question. My workplace has recently upgraded our work phone to Nokia 6630's - beacuse they have a Symbian OS. My personal take on the 6630 is that the menu system and keys aren't very intuitive, its big and bulky and not nice to text on.
I currently have a Nokia 6234 and I much prefer this phone over the 6630. HOWEVER it doesnt have the Symbian OS.
Is there a way to upgrade the hardware/software on my phone to the Symbian OS?

Nokia 6234 Startup White Screen Of Death

Hello,
I've been using the Nokia 6234 for quite a while but suddenly it stopped working. when I try to start the phone the screen flashes a couple of times and then it goes back to sleep. The battery icon is visible in the top-left corner. I cannot do anything after it starts. Most interesting is the fact that if i try using a different SIM (other than Vodafone) i get an error message and I'm asked to enter the restriction code . This part works excellent - i can write numbers without the phone shutting down or smth else.
Does anyone have any ideas about the problem?
I've tried entering reset codes - they don't work, Nokia PC Suite does not get in touch with the phone because it's shut down, i do not know anything else to try.

I've seen this happen to the sister model, the 6233. The cause is usually corrupted firmware or by having several 1000's of messages in the inbox/sent items.
If it won't fully boot (to the main screen) with or without a sim then there is nothing that you can do yourself to fix it.
The only option is to take it to a nokia care point for repair.

The 6233 & 6234 have the following advantages over the 6300
*Stereo speakers
*3G Support
*VGA Video recording
So they are the preffered device to use. If possible get a 6233 as the 6234 is a Vodafone branded 6233 and they tend to stuff up phones when they clog it up with their firmware.
So your answer is 6233

Nokia 6234 boot problem

Hi,
Recently I took my (old) nokia 6234 on vacation, because I was affraid I would lose my new mobile phone.
Luckily, I didn't even lose my nokia 6234 the day I went home. So I used it to save some names of songs people we met there gave us (using the agenda).
But then 'disaster' struck...
The phone still boots up normaly (the nokia handshake and my personal message still pops up), but there it stops.
From that moment the screen is (almost) completely white, with a full battery icon shown.
And after some time the phone shuts down (in total it's on for +-50 seconds).
I already tried *#7780# (whithout any succes).
I would rather not use *#7370#,since I'll lose all the song titles...
Repairing Firmware isn't an option, since the device turns off.
What should I do to fix this?

If your phone is working fine except for the screen then you may try using the Nokia Pc Suite to retrive all your messages and contacts.for keepsake
this was an issue with this phone you should take it to a nokia care point to be replaced

All day events are shifted one day forward (Nokia 6234)

I know that the Nokia 6234 is not officially supported for iSync, however I have found a plugin that works very well.
I am, however, perplexed by the fact that all day events are shifted to the following calendar day on my phone. If I try to move a read only event to the correct day on my phone, I get an error from iSync/iCal saying you are not allowed to edit a read only event.
I have checked the time zones for the phone and my system and the are both the same (GMT+12). I've turned time zone support on and off in iCal, with no effect.
I've tried some different values for the property "AllDayEventFormat" in the Metaclasses.plist, but they didn't seem to make any difference. Maybe because I didn't un-pair and re-pair the phone in between making changes?
Any ideas?

Thank you for your advice The plugin was a free download, not a purchased item. So the provider is in no way beholden to provide assistance, as it was provided on a best efforts basis. However I have approached them for help also.
