Sometime Bing is not located in the Add/Remove programs section of the control panel.

I downloaded something and now when I click on safari yahoo comes up instead of top sites and I really want top sites back it's easier and google as the search engine on the top bar helped a lot too!! Please answer quick need immediate HELP!!

I Downloaded something onto my computer and now when I click onto safari yahoo pops up instead of top sites I know certain changes come along with downloading but if there is a way back to top sites and google as my search engine I need it!! With latest download, I specifically excluded yahoo as default search engine. It loaded anyway and I can not get rid of it and restore Google as default search engine

I had Google as default search engine. Now, Yahoo shows up and even when I delete it, close firefox 8.0, restart it, Yahoo again rears its ugly head. Nothing seems to fix this. Any program I install that is tied in to Yahoo, I specifically exclude the installation of the Yahoo tool bar. How do I get rid of it once and for all?

I want to be able to hit the down arrow key and see my previous searches in the order of last search showing first. At the moment I have no idea how it is sorting and it's very annoying to have to re-type a query I typed 5 minutes earlier but because I typed in another 10 since it is lost somewhere in the list. Can this be done, I have googled but did not find the topic anywhere. The "form fill" feature uses a "frecency" algorithm, frequency + recency, similar to the address bar autocomplete list.

But... is the autocomplete not working? I would expect that typing a couple characters of the earlier query would filter the list so you can easily select it? Or is the problem that the list doesn't remember enough searches for that?

If you are having problems with extensions you can uninstall and reinstall the extension.

How do I get rid of Google as a search engine, new computer. windows 7. shows yahoo as unavailable?

I tried changing the search engine to yahoo in about:config. but google keeps coming up. In manage search engines None were available and google wasn't listed. I'm not sure how to proceed.

If you are referring to the Search on the Default Firefox Homepage (about:home), then that can not be changed, not easily atleast. The default homepage is hardcoded to use Google as its search provider.
To change the Firefox Default Homepage search provider you need to edit aboutHome.xhtml and aboutHome.dtd; Which will take Web Development Coding skillz.

When a site is not found from a main bar entry (not searchbar) how to change search engine

If you type 'not found item' into the main url address bar (not into the search bar), then firefox defaults to google.com and shows you the entry there. How can I change the search engine used by default there? - It is not related to the 'top' search engine you set for the search bar...so I am hoping there is somewhere else it is set rather than hard-coded?

Is that with searching via the location bar or via the (Google) search bar on the Navigation Toolbar?
Try to reset some preferences to the default with the SearchReset extension:

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the about:addons page.
You can also try to delete the search.sqlite and search.json files in the Firefox Profile Folder.

How do I make google my default search engine instead of inbox search engine?

Google was my search engine anytime I would type just keywords into the line where you type web addresses. However, I somehow must have uploaded a new search engine called 'Inbox', which I don't care for, and now I have to type keywords into the search to the right of the screen to use google. I would like to make google my permanent search engine when using Firefox. Any suggestions? I thought I had already deleted the inbox toolbar, but it didn't change my search engine. I am not so computer savvy so...

I had this problem to, drove me insane for weeks. Eventually i found out how to solve the problem though:
1. Open a new tab and in the address bar, type in "about:config" (without the quotations)
2. A little warning pops up, just press ok and move on.
3. In the filter search type in "inbox" (without the quotations)
4. Right-click on any of the results that pop-up and click reset.
That solved the problem for me, and hopefully it will for you as well.

Can not do google or yahoo search

Can not do google or yahoo searches. IExplorer has the same problem. I have run Malwarebytes and AVG nothing fixes it.
You sure must get a lot of question since there is so many hoops to jump through to write a message. This is to bad.
Future or present release would be nice to have a home page for a new created tab.

Wondering if you found an answer. I have yahoo calendar that my admin assistant uses from her computer to put in appointments etc. I have had Yahoo sync to iCal for quite a while, and it has been working pretty well. Now I am trying to get the Yahoo calendar to go to icloud. Yahoo is still syncing with my iCal on my macbook, but that is not translating to the icloud calendar. The only thing that goes from iCal mac to icloud is calendar (under ON MY MAC) - which really has nothing on it. All of the separate calendars from yahoo show up on the iCal side bar under Yahoo, but I can't figure out how to get them to show up (or transfer) to the icloud calendar.
Any help would be appreciated
