  • Can older Airport Express work with new Airport Extreme?

I had an older airport base station (dome shaped) and I was extending it with an Airport Express. I didn't need extra range, it was so I could play my iTunes from my laptop through my home speakers (or use my iPhone to do the same). Now I bought one of the newer flat Base Stations but I can't seem to get it to hook up to the old Express so I can still play my music. Do the old Express's not work with the new base stations?
And if not, is there any other way for me to be able to play music wirelessly to my home stereo from my mac and iPhone/iPods, like I was able to do before?

Im thinking my Airport Express has failed. I tried hard resetting it several times and I can see it through Airport utility, nor my iPhone. The iPhone sees it, but it cannot set it up.
Looks like I need to get a new Airport Express no matter what. Ive had it for a Looooong time. So I guess its number was finally up.
    Thanks for the response seancobrien.

  • Agilent board doesn't work with NI-488

I have an Agilent GPIB interface board, but it seems that it doesn't work with NI-488 software. I would like to know if there's a way to use these board with LabView because if it's not recognize by NI-488 software I can not use it in an application with Labview

As far as I know, NI-488 only works with NI's GPIB boards and other GPIB Interfaces.
I suggest getting an GPIB interface from NI. If you are looking for a cheap way to do this, try getting a USB-GPIB Interface. They are only $495. Also, ISA GPIB cards are only $395.
Alternatively, try installing the GPIB interface software for the Agilent board, and communicating with it through LabVIEW. Agilent may have a driver for this.

  • Do the older 'film SLR' third party EF lenses work with new Canon DSLR's

I have an old film EOS Rebel G with two lenses (Sigma 28-80 Macro) & (70-300 Quantaray 1:4-5.6 LDO Macro).
I got away from the SLR style camera several years ago and am now looking to take the plunge again as the quality of the point and shoot and smart phones can't compare.
I tested both of these lenses on a friend of mine's Canon T3i.  The lenses would not auto focus.  I thought since his camera had the 'red dot' mount they would function but they would only work as a manual focus.  My initial thought was that his camera is really designed to support the EF-S style lens that that is why it could not auto-focus.
Am I truly out of luck or will some of the higher end (full frame) DSLR's support the auto focus features of these lenses?  Or do the new Canon's not support older third party lenses?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi New2dslr,
While older Canon EF lenses work with our new cameras, we can't be certain with third party lenses.  If modifications for the lenses are not available from their respective manufacturers, I recommend investing in some good quality Canon lenses..

  • HT4259 Does this work with a non-apple router, such as the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND?

The instructions shw this working with a range of Apple routers, such as the Airport Extreme.  I own a TP-Link   TL-WR1043ND and I wondered if the same function can be accessed, using the Time Capsule to extend the TP-Link's network.  I have tried setting this, and the Time Capsule seems happy to oblige, but then I loose the access to the internet, which sits on another router behind the TP-Link.  The Router is the one that gives out the IP addresses on the home network, not the TP-Link or the Time Capsule.  Perhaps this is the problem and another arrangement wouldbe better?

do I simply configure the TC to "Extend a Wireless Network", or do I Create One, but of the same name as the one on the TP-Link?
With an Ethernet connection, you would choose the "create a wireless network" setting using AirPort Utility. Things can get tricky because the network must be configured to use the exact same name, same wireless security and same password as the TP-Link network.  Bridge Mode is required.
if I picked up an Airport Express and used that as the principle router instead of the TP-link, would that solve it wirelessly?
Yes. 2nd Generation AirPort Express will certainly work.

  • Does an older Apple care (MA519ZM/A) for iBook/Macbook work with Macbook air 2012?

I found an older model of the apple care (MA519ZM/A) for cheap online.
It says its for iBook / Macbook, but having googled the model number some websites seem to say its for the Air aswell.
So I was wondering if it would work with the MBA 13inch 2012.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The AppleCare you want to buy is designed for the MacBook, the MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro, so you should be able to use it.
I recommend you to get it directly from Apple, so you can be sure it will be compatible, but it should also work

  • Hi, does anyone know if the brand new Microsoft Word for iPad works with right-to-left languages, such as Hebrew and Arabic? Thanks

Hi, just got the Microsoft Word app on my iPad mini, great app in my opinion- just would like to know if anyone has a way to switch into right to left orientation just like Pages now has.
So far the only way I could get this to work was by emailing myself a Hebrew document, erasing it all, and writing the new document in its place, which actually really worked, with true formatting and all. Thing is, I wouldn't sign myself up for 10 bucks a month for a half-baked workaround which Pages does perfectly. Otherwise, Word is awesome.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

I wonder if that means that the iPad Word is a port of the Windows Word with some formqtting options disabled. Just wondering.
I think iPad Word is closer to Mac Word than Win Word.  Mac Word, for 13 years now, has been unable to create connected Arabic text, except on a Win Word doc with some Arabic already there.   I've never seen an explanation for this, but suspect it has something to do with Windows ability to embed fonts in such docs.  In any case, this work around still has enough bugs that I don't think it has ever been widely used.

So can anybody helps me on this query that how can i run my older version java programs in newer version 1.6 or what types of changes i will be do in my java programs.

so when i tried to compile and run my older version programs in the newer version, its showing many errorsI doubt it. There is only one incompatibility between 1.4 and 1.6, and that is the introduction of the 'assert' keyword. (or did that happen in 1.4?)I believe that was the one and only incompatible change made in 1.4.
(Although I'm saying that from memory, and 1.4 was a long time ago -- so the "one and only" part could be wrong.)

  • Will older Airport Express Base Station A-1084 work with new AirPort Extreme? I want to use it as an access point for my ps3 for watching movies and just connectin to Internet.

I am lookin to plug in an older model a-1084 next to my playstation for a dedicated access point to avoid dropping so many connections since I am at the furthest point of my wifi coverage. Will it work or not? It would be connecting through a AirPort Extreme bought in 2011 -2012.

This will work if you plan to connect the AirPort Express using a wired Ethernet connection back to the AirPort Extreme.
But, it won't work if you plan to connect the Express using wireless only. That's because your older version of the Expess does not have a setting to "extend a wireless network", so it's not possible to "extend" the wireless signal using wireless only.
If you added a "new" AirPort Express, that version does have the capability to "extend a wireless network" from the AirPort Extreme using wireless only.
Keep in mind that to "extend" using wireless, the Express will need to be located where it can receive a strong signal from the AirPort Extreme, since the Express can only "extend" the quality of signal that it receives. In other words, the Express can make the signal go further, but it cannot make the signal go faster.

  • "No signal" on screen with new mac mini

    Hi
I have just bought my first Mac Computer. When everything ist properly connected and I start the Mini, the monitor shows "no signal". The Mini ist switsched on and starts (light goes on). The Monitor is a 4 year old TFT with Analog port (white adapter neccesary to connect it to the MAc Mini). I tryed with another Monitor (6-year old Phillips) and the Screen still stays black.
    Help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Flokes

The fact you are getting the same symptoms with two displays suggests the mini or the DVI/VGA adaptor may be at fault.
I would suggest you follow the suggestions in http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300583 and if that doesn't help, since this is a new mini, call Apple without any further delay.
Note that in the above document it refers to resetting the PMU. This is something related to the earlier minis. For your Intel model instead of resetting the PMU, you need to try an 'SMC reset which is done as follows:
    -Switch the system off
-Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord and any display cables.
    -Wait at least 15 seconds.
-Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time.
-Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
-Press the power button on the back to start up your computer.

  • Older airport extreme base station as a network extender with new time capsule

I just bought a new time capsule (802.11ac). Can my older airport extreme base station (model A1143) be used as a network extender with it?

    Yes, although it maybe disappointing..
There are two kinds of extending.. wireless repeater type which is poorest as it has to transfer all packets in two steps instead of one.. hence will halve the speed.
Or using ethernet to the old extreme and set it in bridge.. You can then setup roaming network... this is much better.. but getting ethernet to the right place could be messy or expensive or both.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4260
wireless extend doco.. mind all of this is out of date.. the basics are correct.. the methods via the airport utility may be obsolete.

    Documentation has rather lagged lately.

  • IPod no longer works with Older iMac (works with new iMac)

    Hi all:
First off sorry about the cross post but I got no response to this question in the other forum. Hoping for help from this group. Thanks!!!!
I have an iMac Duo (20" 2.0Ghz) running 10.4.8 and iTunes 7.0.1 which recognizes my 5g (and my wife's 4g) no problem. However when I attach either of them to my G3 (G3 500 MHz) running 10.2.8 (iTunes 6.0.5) they are not recognized.
I believe that the 5G won't work because the G3 does not have USB 2. However, I do not understand why the 4G does not work.
The 4G worked with the G3 for about 2 years. I have not tried to attach it to the G3 since we bought new computers (iMac for me, MacBook Pro for her) until today. I wanted to use it to transfer some files from the G3 to the new iMac.
I have tried forcing the 4G into disk mode and connecting it to the G3 but that did not help (I tried this with the 5G also).
I am using a USB cable with the 5G and a firewire cable with the 4G.
According to software update all of the computers are 100% current.
Thanks for any and all help!
    Gary

I'm no geek but I can say that my 5G video iPod works just fine with my B&W G3 (450Mhz processor), which I am pretty sure only has USB 1. My G3 is running iTunes 7 and OS 10.4.5. Updating may solve your problem.

  • Can older verion of java run with new version ?

I am new to java.I confuse with the version of java.
I have buit system, like a website, with 1.1.8 version of java . Now, I will promote the JVM to the new version , like 1.2 version . What i will watch ? Is that ok ?
    Thanks everybody.

Yeah, it's ok - Java is backwards compatible. But you might want to check that it works first. Most old parts of the API have remained the same from the day they were first released, but you might get problems with methods like getX in the class java.awt.Point or getWidth in the class java.awt.Dimension.

  • How come I could print coupons with previous versions of firefox such as versions 2 and 3 and I can't with the current version? It is frustrating because every time I want to print a coupon I to use internet explorer.

    none.

Are you sure that Firefox gets the plugins from the ~/.mozilla/plugins directory and not from another location.
Did you try to place the symlink in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins ?
See [[Troubleshooting plugins]] on how to see the path of all plugins.
