Do other software applications interfere with Photoshop?

Does putting digital audio workstation (DAW) [i.e. cubase] software with Photoshop (and other Adobe products) on the same machine interfere with each other?
Is this is a good idea, a bad idea, or a non-issue?
Machine has 8GB of ram and 750GB hard disk and I don't want to use a separate machine for recording and editing music but if I have to I have to.
I also have an external hard drive.

I've seen issues as described by others here, notably between DxO and Bridge. Up till vers 7 of DxO, if I had Bridge open as well as DxO, and, in fact, if DxO, Bridge, Photoshop and Firefox were all open, I could expect a freeze in Photoshop and/or Bridge having to close down. It was especially difficult when trying to drag an image from Bridge to the DxO icon in the tray. Guaranteed to crash Bridge.
Version 7 of DxO seems to have corrected this condition but I have experienced, but only once, Bridge crashing from a drag and drop. I believe that one was operator error.
Now if only the other problem between DxO and Bridge/ACR also would go away! A color shift in the orange range from the .dng,. A big one at that. It's evident on my D 80 images, but not D90. It's also evident on two Canons I checked; a 20D and the 7D. I see it on a Mac and PC. DxO says it ain't them, and offers proof through the jpeg and tiff outputs. They remain neutral. It's weird. Only colors like dry grass, or a stained reddish-orange cedar fence shows it, and only from the dng.
Oh, and DxO support said they could not explain why I wasn't seeing it on the D90!

I am not interested in switching to Creative Cloud, so don't even suggest it. I spoke to Mashmi (or something to that effect) on the "Support" Chat and there was absolutely no support. Useless actually.

Is it possible to invoke other software applications in labview? I would like to upload my files processed in Labview to my web based database. I have no basis of FTP and SQL. Providing that I have no Internet Database Toolkit installed in my computer. So, is it possible to "call" the software in Labview, just like calling a function or sub VI?

As long as your just reinstall OS X it should be ok but make sure you have backed up all important data before using OS X Recovery just in case.

While the current software is compatible with earlier versions of Photoshop Elements, it is not compatible with Elements 6 since Abobe changed their database (nor longer using Access). I notice that the specs on iPhone 3G say compatible with Photoshop Elements.

However, to be fair, while there may be savings to be had, your company would have to replace existing phones with iPhones and tie everyone into one carrier (which accross a multi-office environment may not be practical, due to coverage issues). The iPhone does not offer the level of encryption available to a Blackberry/RIM handset, or the ability to enforce security policies on handsets, which may be a concern to your IT and Security people. It also misses some useful features (such as searching email for words/phrases. This is a feature I use regularly on my Blackberry, and I'm disappointed to not find it on my iPhone. ). And there is the whole, One Vendor issue that may worry some (you can connect non-RIM, e.g. Nokia, etc, phones to your BES providing the phone supports the required blackberry software).
I've got to say, as much as I love my iPhone (and I'm personally migrating from my blackberry to it) I don't think I'd recommend it as an enterprise phone.... yet... It's still got a way to go. As a personal+business phone, I'm giving it a shot (as the personal side is quite good). My current employer is a small company, with no BES, so I use my carrier's BIS, and get by with it. As such, the calendar+contacts sync available through mobileMe is a plus . If I was planning IT direction for a larger organisation though, I'd be considering the iPhone (if for no other reason than an excuse to play with one ), but I wouldn't be preparing a migration just yet!

This phone seems to hang or close on it's own at times? Can anybody suggest what may be the problem & how to overcome it.

Using CS-6 and printing to Epson 4880 Printer will pause about 20% of the way in on the print job for 2-3 Sec and restart. At that point it makes a darker band in the print. I have used other software to print with and id dosn't do it only in photoshop.

Any one have a idea on the problem??

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details like exact print and spooler settings.

Why does other software not connect with thunderbird? IE Nitro Reader, Windows photo

Previous use with OE I could open a pdf in Nitro reader and click send email and then OE would open in a send window. Using Thunderbird the software opens but just in the general start page. Am I missing a setting?

I have the same problem. I've used Nitro PDF reader for years and, in every case until recently, when I have a pdf document open in Nitro and click "Send as email attachment", Thunderbird has opened with the document attached. For the past several days, Thunderbird has not opened in response to such a click. Also, for the same time period, Thunderbird's minimize, expand and x symbols in the upper right corner have been blacked out. They still function if clicked blindly, but they cannot be seen. Coincidence? Different problems? I need solutions for both.

Hands Off! application interferes with App Store

I had a problem for the last couple days logging in to the App Store. A call to AppleCare resulted in them having me start up in Safe Mode. In that condition, all was normal with the App Store but, when I restarted normally, although I was still logged in to the App Store, I could not update apps nor could I purchase new apps. When Iogged out, I was unable to log in again.
The folks at Apple had me try several other tests, too numerous to describe here and, ultimately, not germane to the solution.
Since I had recently installed a program named Hands Off!, I suspected it was the culprit. My suspicion was correct. If anyone is having similar problems and has Hands Off! installed, I suggest you go to the Hands Off! preferences and click on the "Disable rules" icon in the toolbar. That solved the problem for me.

Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data

Antivirus interfering with Photoshop CS3

For some time now I have been suffering from frequent lockups of my computer when trying to run Photoshop CS3 and or Bridge CS3. I have traced the problem to my antivirus program (Steganos AV2009 aka AVG8). If I disable the Resident Shield component of this software, I am able to run Photoshop. However the software (and Windows) nags me that I should no be doing this.
I have noted that your technical advice for troubleshooting Photoshop problems includes turning off such resident file and disk activity scanners. However I am worried about using my computer without antivirus protection.
My question is, which, if any, current AV programs are known not to interfere with Photoshop?
Heuristic AV scanners are becoming more commonplace, and I suspect that these are the ones that are likely to cause problems. They are also notorious resource hoggers.

I have to say that there is a lot in what Mark Terry says. I have had AV software on my computer since the year dot. It has never caught a single virus (or trojan or worm) in situ, but, over the years, it has caused more hassle than I think any virus might ever have caused. Every AV program I have subscribed to has self-destructed in the end, requiring that it be removed and ditched.
Much AV software is becoming too sophisticated for its own good. Complex software, especially when operating in highly varied environments and subject to continuous frequent updates is bound to malfunction sooner or later. However what I was asking about was whether there is anything reliable, simple and with a small resource footprint, that is better than nothing, and which does not interfere with Photoshop.
I do agree that a decent firewall is essential and that is taken care of. But is it sufficient, given the quantity of stuff that one routinely downloads these days?
All I want is a decent lock on the door and something to warn of and deal with intruders.
Robert Levine's remark is pertinent. There are differences between free and paid-for AVG8, but I would have thought that the in-memory scanning engine would be the same. However I can only report on my own experience. Perhaps there is something peculiar (broken?) in my system that makes it susceptible...?? AVG8 Resident Shield uses a significant amount of CPU resources. (I can see this with Process Explorer.) and my machine is a single-core Pentium 4. Even with hyper-threading, I do not think that Photoshop likes the competition.
Has anyone else ever had problems of this sort?

This computer recently was replaced with a Dell running Windows 8.I reloaded my CS2 on this computer & it ran fine with a few exceptions as follows;
when the software comes up initially I get a message that says “could not complete your request because of program error”. Hitting OK allows me to continue using the software .
When I try to activate a function using CTLR or ALT keys I get this message “required application failed to load and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application”. This causes the application to abort.
Reloading my CS2 continues to generate the same messages when I depress the CTLR or ALT keys.

Your original copy is obsolete and Adobe is offering a free replacement you are entitled to. Download and use that and that should clear it up for you.

How do I download and reinstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 11? I have a new iMac and all other software converted except Photoshop...

I purchased a new iMac Retna Display and converted over my other software from my old iMac. Most all apps converted fine, however Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 just launched with an error stating we needed to reinstall the application. We have the original serial number but can not find a copy of Elements 11 on Adobe's site to download and reinstall. Also, we can not find any contact information for Adobe support even though the messages in the forum state we must contact adobe customer support to resolve this issue.
