Do pages usually take a while to load??

I published my iweb site to a folder, as well as to imac and it seems the site pages are slow to load. I have images as my browser background for some of the pages. Would this affect the loading of the site, or will this issue be fixed once I publish the site to another server?? Thanks.

When loading ANY web page, it take firefox 3sec to load a blank page. I have tried everything, starting firefox in safe mode and dissabling all add ons, turning 6v on and off, turnig proxy on and off, reinstalling firefox, restarting my computer, and reinstalling drivers. I can use another browser to surf the internet but finding one that is as capable to firefox isn't easy.
ps. Firefox did start at one point and then just stoped.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Music transfers very slow and takes a while to load in player- yahoo mu

I got the new beta firmware and I downloaded about 650 songs via Yahoo music unlimited. I tranfered only about 250 songs in 2 hours... I have USB . but it shouldnt be this slow. Also when I try to play the songs on my mp3 player they take about 0 seconds to start up. When I play an album straight threw the songs usually dont take awhile to load up next to next song, but when I change the song they always take awhile. I wonder if these problems are just becuase of the beta firmware. The reason why I got this player was becuase it worked with subsciption music, but it seems to be kinda buggy right now

Well I have done the disk cleanup and it still didnt fix it. I just got this player yesterday too I have about 3.5 gigs on it. I didnt get my usb 2.0 system yet, but im just really worried about these long load times for the songs on the player. Im gona try loading some mp3s and see how those go.
edit... I just loaded up some MP3s and they start in about 3-4 seconds. A lot faster then my WMAs from yahoo, but still I was expecting mp3s to play instantly pretty much.Message Edited by Johnwashere on 05-2-2005 2:26 AM

Can't get into specific class grades. It's not just here though; many pages load and load and load taking an extremely long time only to get an error message.

When I change pages it takes for ever to load, but if I move my mouse around it loads fast

Fire Fox has been acting weird lately. Every time I change to a new page, it just sits there, does not change some times for as long a a minute or two. The Indicator in the Tab shows no motion.
If I move the mouse around in the windows it will open almost instantly. It does this for every page. I didn't notice this in the last version of Fire Fox. Just after the last update to 4.1

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Scim makes leafpad take a while to load, except when run from terminal

Leafpad normally loads up in an instant. But with scim running (More specifically with the required environment variables exported. Scim simply running without the environment variables does not cause the problem, but then scim does not work.), although it shows up immediately, the scrollbar, menubar etc are greyed out for a few seconds and the program cannot be used until it is fully loaded.
I'm sure this is specifically a leafpad problem, because there is no noticable lag in other programs. (Mousepad for example is fine.) However, the fact that it loads immediately when run from a terminal scares me. Why doesn't gmrun (and the fvwm menu) work just like a terminal? Is there a possible fix to this problem?

Im having problems with loading Google Maps, it takes a while to load up. This has only started doing this recently.I changed to Mozilla from IE Exporer as that was useless.

Mozilla runs fine with other web sites but when I use Google Maps it struggles to load up maps. Looks like there is a constant exchange between Google and Mozilla which is slowing up the loading. This has only been happening about 3 weeks ago, it was perfect before that so maybe it could be the Mozilla update that I accepted.

try replacing the sim card after that it needs to be replaced and since you had some one else open up the phone you would lose the out of warranty replacement price and have to buy a new one at the full retail value

Do I need a newer version of Pages? I think I'm still using my '08 iWork version.

I mostly use Pages '09, I don't have Pages '08 on this set-up.

I just updated to firefox 4. i cant send/reply to messages in hotmail or other websites that i have profiles on which have messageing applications. browser also redirects me to random pages and takes too long to load.

I have since removed 4 and gone back to firefox 3, but the problem still exists. Im having issues with Internet Explorer too.
This is an example of the script that fills the ENTIRE webpage, when i try to send/reply to messages, not only in hotmail, but any site that you can send email from.

I don't have any netflix add ons or extensions installed. I only have necessary plug ins installed. I have turned off all add ons and restarted so this issue is not related to an add on, plug in or extension. I also can rule out my dsl provider as I have hooked my pc up to other family members connections with the same provider on the same server and it did the same thing, However their pc has no issue. I have taken my pc to 3 technicians and there are no problems they can find with my registry or any infections or spyware. The PC does the same thing on their connections.All hardware passes every test they can throw at it. I have tried other browsers and reinstalling this one as well and the same thing happens. This really is mind boggling. I have ATT/uverse beta 6.0. There should be no delay in starting up my browser. After startup, it works great no problems but the speed starting up is on par with old fashioned dial up right now. I have 3 gigs of ram available and I have 85 percent capacity left on hard drive , processor speed of 3.4 with dual core processor. Makes no sense at all.

Camera takes along time to load and freeze's when taking video or picture

Try a reset. It cures many ills and nothing is lost.

Photos take too long to load

I have had my website running for months now. I regularly add new photo pages, with up to 300 photos a time. the photo pages always take some time to load (a couple of minutes) but this is fine. then when you click a photo, it takes another minute to load all thumbnails and be ready to navigate to other photos (in the enlarged view).
normally, at this stage, clicking the thumbnails, or next would load up the other images instantly. very quick. NOW, every time i click on a thumbnail, it takes over 5 seconds to load next photo.
why has this changed??
as i am writing this, i realise it only happens on windoze/IE7. as my dad and next door neighbour have both just got vista. that disgusting attempt at an os.
grrr. i hate vista and i hate bill gates.
anyway, could someone who's got access to a vista machine try downloading Firefox - if you haven't already, and see if it fixes the problem. photo pages - enlarged version - clicking from thumbnail to thumbnail - should be very quick.

What format are you pictures? When you don't need them in a special format changing them to a .gif will reduce the file size a lot and the quality is still great.
I mostly use .gif so i can guarantee a fast loading of the site.
Tip: Don't name your pictures just like 1,2,3 etc.. By giving them a small description as a name (p.e. '30Tablet_MultivitaminBottle.gif') helps your google search ranking.

Everytime i open some websites, it displays the page for a while then load to another blank page.

hai. i need help. and just for heads up, i;m not computer/tech savvy.
i dont remember when this problem was started (maybe around 2 or 3 months ago) but everytime i opened some sites, the page displayed for a while then it reload itself and shown a blank page. the link is still the same with the link i tried to access, it just keep loading and shown blank page till it stop loading. refreshing the page wont help. usually i need to click 'Back' then while it shown the page i click 'X' to stop the page loading, so i can see the page.
but if i need to download files, stopping the page wont make me able to downloaded the files since the page didnt fully loaded.
the websites i encountered this was (so far) :
- Indowebster (download page)
- wiki.d-addicts.com (a wikipedia kind of page)
- photobucket (just encountered this today)
- and 1 or 2 other sites, i forgot.
but i can access all those sites just fine with IE. I also able to access it in Mozilla thru my work computer. at first this dint really bother me as i can just click 'stop loading page' or found another download sites for downloading. but as today i experienced it with photobucket 9which as far as i know didnt happened before) it made me worry that soon i would experiencing this with another sites too.

i already clear cache and cookies. also disable all extensions in my add-ons. from some discussion page, many of them found that this was caused by Real-Player. i have uninstalled Real Player and have disabled the Real Player Plugins long before this problem occured. so i dont think Real Player was the caused.

hi.. actually before i was afraid to update anything other than anti-virus, since i read many people seems updating something and turns out they got malware/virus with it.
but i have update it to Firefox 21 (the newest version it seems) and didnt encounter any problem again. and hope not. it just the new version disable my orbitdownloader. any suggestion to bring it back? (or should i post new thread?)

Adding blog page + First upload - Takes a while! - Then watch it fly!

I just thought that I would share this with everyone
Having been running my site for quite a while now, without too many problems I decided that it was time to add a blog!
I follow this forum and one thing that I have noticed in the past is comments about upload time. But luckily for me this has never really been a problem, I add one page and upload it, and never has it been unreasonable (a couple of times I had to resubmit because it didn't like a picture). But I have never changed the picture, just hit Publish again! So I was really shocked last night when I published my first blog page, two failures due to pictures and on the third attempt it went through, but it did take a loooong time..
Looking at my iDisk, all of the .html files in the top level folder were modified during upload, but I stuck with it.
Today I added a second entry to my blog, and I must say, WOW! Back to the old speed that i love and know!
It seems that the first blog creation takes a while but after this all is back to normal.

Yes photos in both blogs.
I have two photos the same as you, one large (I should have resized!), one not. When viewing the site you only see the smaller one.
Yes I have RSS, and when I click the button, in safari, I get an RSS feed of my blog and the large images are there as icons, which when clicked load in safari.
I am just off to resize them now, i think 800*600 should be enough.

Why does it take so long to load my iweb pages

I'm brand new to using iWeb and this is my first attempt at a webpage: http://web.mac.com/cankuhnster It is a report on what I did and the San Diego Comic Con last week.
Can anyone give me suggestions on what I can do to make my pages load faster? I love the way the pages look but it takes a while to get the page to load.

I don't know how you made it (it may have been done by iWeb) but you should find a way to break it up into its parts (images and text).

Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
If the issue persists...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore
