Do pictures in photo stream have to be downloaded to my iphoto library?

When I look at my iPhoto Library I see photo stream broken down by month.  Do I need to download these pictures so that they show up in Events?

If you want your Photo Stream photos to be automatically imported into iPhoto you need to setup iPhoto's Photo Stream preferences as shown below:
If you're not setup that way now do so and then check after a bit to see how many of the PS photos have been added to your library.  Those that have not can be manually imported into the library by selecting them in the Photo Stream and dragging onto the Events icon in the left hand pane.

Ok you can reset the stream from www.icloud.com
    Goto www.icloud.com
Login with your iCould username and password.
    and login
Then click on your name in the top right hand side of the screen next to sign out,
it opens a window Account details with Language, Time Zone, Advanced
Select Advanced - Then click Reset Photo Stream. and confirm, the stream will be reset and totally deleted
I still think you should be able to remove individual pictures though, a blured image etc is a problem

Log out of iCloud in the System/iCloud preference pane and disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.  Then log back in and re-enable, respectively.  That should jump start Photo Stream on your Mac.

  • Delete pictures from photo stream in aperture

Downloaded the new Aperture that allows you to delete pictures from Photo Stream.  I deleted photos but those photos remain on my iphone.  What did I do wrong?

You might try posting in the Aperture forum - there are some very knowledgeable participants there; in case you don't get any replies here.

How to delete some of the pictures in photo stream?

You can delete photos from your photo stream the same way you delete other photos from your iOS device or Mac. Just select the photos you want to remove, then tap the trash icon or click Delete.
On your PC, select the photos you want to remove from your photo stream, right-click, then select delete.
When you delete a photo from My Photo Stream on one device, iCloud will automatically delete it from the My Photo Stream album or view on your other devices.

  • Photos in shared photo stream have disappeared

I have several shared photo streams. Following the last update to iPhoto, some are just fine but others display a photo count which is very different than the number of photos which now appear to be there. The count is what should actually be visible - for instance, one displays a count of 76 photos, which is what should be there and which used to be viewable. However, only 10 appear now. This is not a refresh or network latency issue. Has anyone else run into this in iPhoto and, most importantly, how do I fix it?

There might be a few questions to work through to find a solution...
My first question would be this... please advise whether yo uback up your iPhone, and if you do, is this to iCloud or to an Apple computer?

  • Can i load pictures into photo stream?

can i load pictures into photo stream?

There are a different ways to do this:
    - Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot.  This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream.
    - Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll.  This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll (if you choose to send them as Actual Size) and upload to photo stream.
    - Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once.  Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll.  These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream.  (You need an App like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream).

I have several iCloud shared photo streams . They all download fine into my iPhone, but one doesn't download into my MacBook. Any suggestions?

Tried that too over the weekend,I unchecked the Photos option in iCloud preferences in System, let iPhoto do it's thing, then restarted the Mac, and turned iCloud Photos back on again... it looked promising the first hour... but then stopped downloading 20 or so albums. I have over 80 shared albums created over the years.
Also, the albums it did download, sometimes they're not even complete nor in any particular order.
I did exactly what you did. It took two days, but slowly all shared streams came back.
If the photo streams do not reappear, try if removing the content of this folder will help: It contains the photos downloaded from the shared streams. Perhaps one photo is corrupted.
    ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/sub-shared/
    Quit iPhoto
Move the folder above from your User Library to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.

  • Upload pictures to Photo Stream

Hello. I want to give iCloud Photo Stream a try. Problem is, iPhoto is horrendous software and I just won't run it. What other way are there to upload pictures to Photo Stream?
I can send pictures automatically from iPhone, and Wiindows user get a nifty uploads folder. Ironically, however, Mac users are stuck with bulky and unreliable software to upload their pictures. Why, I ask you, are Windows users being rewarded for not being Mac users?
Is there a way to set up a Windows-like "Uploads" folder, or upload the files ising some programming tool?  Thanks.

    Here's one way:
1 - put the image files you want to upload to your Phone and then into PHoto Stream in a folder on your hard drive.
2 - connect your iPHone to your Mac and launch iTunes.
3 - in your iPhone section of iTunes click on the Photos button in the toolbar.
4 - select the checkbox Syhnc Photos from .
5 - in the resulting window navigate to the folder you've created, select it and use the Apply button.
6 - once in your iPhone select the photos uploaded and move to the Photo Stream.
Or learn how to use iPhoto properly and make the operation nearly automatic.

  • Since iso8.2 update camera roll and photo stream have disappeared from my iPad

Since the ISO8.2 update the camera roll and photo stream have disappeared from my photos app on my iPad 2 anyone else suffered the same problem and how do I get them back?

    Hey carolfromdaventry,
Thanks for the question. The following resource provides some great information any questions you might have about Photos after updating to iOS 8:
Get help finding your Photos in iOS 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6464
Where can I find the Camera Roll?
The Photos app in iOS 8 doesn't separate photos and videos based on how they were added to your device. Instead of a Camera Roll, your photos and videos (even ones that you didn't take with or save to your device) are organized by date in Photos.
Where can I find the My Photo Stream album?
In iOS 8, there's no longer a separate My Photo Stream album. Instead, photos that were in the My Photo Stream album are now in the Recently Added album.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • My camera roll in my 5c has over 2000 pics my photo stream only has 900, how can i make the photo stream have the same amount of pics so i can delete some from my roll to free up space

my camera roll in my 5c has over 2000 pics my photo stream only has 900, how can i make the photo stream have the same amount of pics so i can delete some from my roll to free up space

Photostream is not a substitute for importing your photos to your computer.
How long are My Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud?
The photos you upload to My Photo Stream are stored in iCloud for 30 days to give your devices plenty of time to connect and download them."
ow many photos are stored in My Photo Stream on my devices and computers?
iCloud pushes all your photos to the My Photo Stream album on your devices and computers, and manages them efficiently, so you don’t run out of storage space.
Your iOS devices keep a rolling collection of your last 1000 photos in the My Photo Stream album.

I have Photo Stream enabled with Automatic downloads enabled. Yet when I try to join a Photo stream I get referred to The I Cloud start support page - this happens for both my Mac and my IPad. What can I do?

The following is from this Apple Document: iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
What do I need to use Photo Stream?
To use Photo Stream, including Shared Photo Streams, you need an iCloud account, compatible devices, and up-to-date software:
