Do SameSubnetDelay or SameSubnetThreshold setting need restart windows failover cluster ?
Hi ,
I set SameSubnetDelay=2000 and SameSubnetThreshold = 10,but after a failover, when i check the cluster log, we still found SameSubnetDelay and SameSubnetThreshold use default setting.
So i want to konw do these settings need restart windows failover cluster core resource group to take effect?
Our windows version: Windows 2008 R2 SP1
Many thanks.
Thanks for your reply.
After set up new values for these two settings , i checked the values use "cluster /prop " command, it indeed show new values.
But after a sql server cluster instance failover, i checked the cluster log to find the cause of failover ,in the cluster log it showed default values for these settings. There were two times like this.
I will keep watching this, and next time i will post the setting values and cluster log.

Windows Failover Cluster (Errors retrieving file shares)
I'm having an issue with Windows Failover Cluster with a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine. I have two cluster nodes (nodeA and nodeB). My issue is that when nodeA is the owner node, and I open failover cluster manager <clusterName> >>
roles >> <fileserver role> >> shares tab it will hang and say that it is loading, but this will occur infinitely. Although when I go to nodeB (not the owner node) and I go to shares it will show me all of the shares that I have. Next when
I go to <clusterName> >> Nodes >> click on Roles tab the information says "There were errors retrieving file shares."
Now when I switch the nobeB to the owner node, I cannot view the shares on that machine but can now view them on nodeA.
We alse have a test network where I have recreated the machines, environment and the failover cluster to as close as the production network as I can except everything works great in the test networkFor anybody searching on this later...
I was getting "There were errors retrieving file shares" no matter which node of my cluster
owned the fileshare service. Turns out my problem was that my servers don't have internet access and I had set a system proxy. The fix described in the link below was to exclude the local domain from the proxy.

CAS. NLB or Windows failover cluster
Hi.
Tell me please. Can i use Windows failover clustering for CAS?
Now i use NLB for CAS and Windows failover cluster for DAG.
I want create a one more cluster for two CAS servers (disable NLB).
What is the difference for CAS between NLB and Windows failover clustering?
Thanks.Yeah, failover cluster is not recommended. There are three basic options for load balancing Exchange 2013 CAS:
DNS Round Robin
Windows NLB
L4 Load Balancer
Round Robin is the easiest, but doesn't really do load balancing, or check that the servers are up.
NLB will load balance and check that servers are up, but won't protect against service level failures. There are also some other down sides with NLB (see second link below).
The load balancer is generally the way to go, as is much easier to configure on Exchange 2013 than 2010, due to the session affinity changes in CAS (technically, L7 load balancer was needed for 2010). Obviously, this is not a free option.
Here are a few links that are good to read:

IP Resource Errors While Building a Windows Failover Cluster on Azure
I have setup a failover cluster in Microsoft Azure on four VMs. I have two nodes in one subnet/region, one node in another subnet/region and a final node in a third subnet/region. The cluster passed the validation wizard and was successfully built, but the
two nodes in other subnets will not go online, reporting "Failed to bring the resource 'IP Address x.x.x.x' online".
Azure Vnet Setup
Vnet 1 - South Central US - 10.16.16.0/16 - Nodes 1 & 2 - Online
Vnet 2 - West US - 10.116.16.0/16 - Node 3 - Offline
Vnet 3 - East US - 10.216.16.0/16 - Node 4 - Offline
All three IP Address resources are DHCP. I've attempted to make them static but they still failed while coming online. If I click "Information Details" on the error I get:
Error code: 0x80071397
The operation failed because either the specified cluster node is not the owner of the resource, or the node is not a possible owner of the resource.
It seems to be an issue with the way Azure DHCP works, but I'm stalled. There must be a way to get his working. What am I missing?Hi Michael Lapidakis,
Starting in Windows Server 2008, a feature called an “OR dependency” was added to Failover Clustering which gave admins the ability to have nodes with a Network Name that
could use one IP Address OR another IP Address .In a multisite cluster, it is expected that 1 IP address is offline as it is an OR relationship.
You can refer the following related article to realize more detail settings of multi-site site cluster IP settings.

SQL cluster name on a Windows Failover Cluster
Hello,
I am installing a SQL cluster (first timer) using Windows server and SQL (both 2008 R2)
Windows failover cluster is setup and functioning. I am now installing the SQL failover cluster part.
Question: What should be the "SQL server network name", should it be the same as my Windows cluster name or different name ?
Thanks for your help,
LucaIt should be different, this is known as the virtual SQL Server name in earlier versions of SQL Server failover clusters.
SQL Server Network Name —
Specify a network name for the new SQL Server failover cluster. This is the name that is used to identify your failover cluster on the network.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179530.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
This will be the name used to identify your cluster on the network. This is the name that will be available on the
network for the clients to connect SQL instance.

Installation guide Oracle cloud Control Agents on a Windows failover cluste
Hello Experts,
i have to install Oracle cloud control agent on windows fail-over cluster. i could not found any document on oracle support site/ internet.
here are the requirement:
i have two hosts (host1 and host2) which are in windows cluster environment (active/passive). means, one node will hold the cluster service/resource at a time.
if primary node (host1) is down, Microsoft cluster ware will fail-over cluster resource to host2 automatically.
any one deployed 12c Agents on windows fail-over clustered environment. if yes, please provide hints / procedure.
Thanks
pavanHi Pavan,
Please find the following document:
How to Configure Grid Control Agents in Windows HA - Failover Cluster Environments (Doc ID 464191.1)
For 12C Agent install, you can proceed with the silent install passing a virtual hostname in silent method also using the following document:

Change the IP Addresss of Servers that are members of a Windows Failover Cluster and SQL cluster
Hi all,
I have 3-nodes Windows Server 2012 R2 Cluster, on top of it I have two clustered named SQL 2012 instances installed. We need to change the IPs and subnet for the three physical servers incorporated in the Windows cluster. What will be the impact on
the Windows and SQL clusters? What extra configuration is needed in both Windows and SQL clusters to make sure the service will not fail after changing the IPs?A similar question was answered
here.
The impact is that your Windows and SQL Server failover clustered instances will be offline during configuration so you need to schedule downtime. Plus, your client applications will not be able to find the new IP addresses immediately, depending on your
DNS TTL value. Work with your network/systems engineers to find out what this value is or validate the existing TTL values on your clustered resources by checking the HostRecordTTL property value. A workaround here is to set the HostRecordTTL property values
of your SQL Server network name to a very low value, say 1 minute, and then change it back to the current one once all of the applications can connect back to them.

How to enable "persistent mode" in Windows failover cluster manager 2012?
In Windows Server 2008 R2 there was a checkbox named "Enable persistent mode" on a General tab in the Properties of a cluster resource.
In Windows Server 2012 that seems to have disappeared.
My cluster resource is a "generic script" resource (not that it makes any difference).
How do I enable "persistent mode" for a cluster resource in Windows Server 2012?
ThanksHi Marcus Griley,
Enabled by default for VM groups Option is hidden from GUI in 2012, you can use the specify the preferred owner of group to realize the same function, positively not come online
on a node that is not a possible owner. If no possible owner nodes are up, then the group will still failover to a node that’s not a possible owner, but it will not come online.
Preferred Owners in a Cluster
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/clustering/archive/2008/10/14/9000092.aspx
Specify preferred owners of a group:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc759663(v=ws.10).aspx
Set group FailOver policy:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc786993(v=ws.10).aspx
Set group FailBack policy:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc778570(v=ws.10).aspx- This will help the resources to fail back on the preferred owner.
I’m glad to be of help to you!

I have two windows 2012 host server that are clustered using windows failover cluster feature. Each server is hosting four VMs. When migrating from Host2 to Host1, the migration failed with the following error:
Cluster resource 'Virtual Machine Configuration SCPCSQLSRV01' of type 'Virtual Machine Configuration' in clustered role 'SCPCSQLSRV01' failed. The error code was '0x569' ('Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.').
When this happens, the VM that I was migrating can no longer be started even on the original host. The only remedy is to restart the host server.
Any suggestion on resolving this problem?
Thanks
IkadThanks. The article referred to above gives the solution to my issue. There is a group policy that is applied to the OU where the host servers were placed. Doing gpupdate /force temporarily removes the problem. Unfortunately the NT Virtual Machine\Virtual
Machines account is a special account that cannot be added like other accounts and granted the log on as a service right. The thread
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverhyperv/thread/d56f2eae-726e-409a-8813-670a406593e8 contains how it can be added which is by creating a group and running the command
Net localgroup VMTest “NT Virtual Machine\Virtual Machines” /add
to add it to a local group VMTest. VMTest is then assigned the right to log on as a service.

Problems on NW PI 7.1 after setting up a Windows Domain
Hello Experts,
we have had a SAP system running without a windows domain name. Everything works fine until we need to set up a windows domain because of the "full qualified domain name error".
Now after setting up the domain we have problems to access the PI system by SAP Logon from a client. Within the server everything works fine with SAP Logon.
Thanks for your answers in advance!!!
Regards, AlexanderHi Moog,
Check if server hostname and server IP is pingable from client.
If yes then check for dispatcher port connectivity using telnet
telnet server ip 32<instance number>
Paste the results , adding server to domain will not harm unless its pingable from client.

My wireless router needed restart. And, no Apple TV signal. How do I reset the Apple TV box? no lite. nothing
The remote app requires both to be on the same network and home sharing to be enabled, you will need the physical remote to set this up. You can purchase a replacement through Apple.

Is it possible to set a finder window to full screen mode,..
... like mail, itunes and other apps? and if not, why not?
I have to say it took me a bit to get used to Lion, I began complaining all day until I decided to take some time to learn it, and now I like it very much, I see the advantages over 10.6.
But still, there are some things I don't know about, and the window of opportunity to take time to learn more has closed. And I don't know when it'll open again.
So, that's why I have joined the community, because now I'm trying to use everthing on full-screen mode, and as I was setting my desktops to work on a project in which I will be needing a lot of finder windows open with a lot of items each, I instantly asked myself:
Is it possible to set the finder windows to full screen? because I don't see any buttons.
Thanks 4 Your Time
R.D.B.Thanks Don Archibald,
Yeah, that's what I'm doing at the moment. But I thought it would be nice to have the little full screen button just to press it so.
Besides, I'm still figuring out the finder windows' behaviour. I discovered that if you open a folder from a window that has the toolbar, the new folder would also open with a toolbar, even if you already had it set it up with just the status bar.
And one thing that still enervates me is that if you have a window with two items, and you press the green button to fit the borders up tight, instead of leavin' the 2 items in a horizontal arrangement, it moves one to the bottom and puts a slider. Arrgh.
Another thing I haven't understood is why one folder I have on the dock sometimes opens with a column layout instead of the icon layout I have arranged for it before. Totally random 4 now, can't find the why.
Anyway... I'm going to order some lapel pins about 2 flags I designed for two embassies. Anyone know a good place for doing that? -
Need a windows script to check all unix db boxes are pinging ?
Hi ,
I need a windows script to check all unix remote db boxes are pinging ?
I need to show the output in an html file.
Can anyone suggest ideas ?I have a script that "kind of" works. The only problem I've seen is that it gets confused when filenames contain characters that are fine in Macland but not good in Unixland. Forward slashes are a good example of this.
In this case I have a folder in my home named "copytest" Inside copytest are two folders:
Source (containing the images to be added)
Dest (My existing library of images)
It also assumes that the folder of images to be added contains no sub-folders. Hope this helps.
tell application "Finder"
set theSource to folder "source" of folder "copytest" of home
set imagesToBeCopied to name of every file of theSource
end tell
repeat with theFile in imagesToBeCopied
try
if (do shell script "find -r ~/copytest/dest -name " & quoted form of (theFile as string)) is not equal to "" then
--The file exists. Don't copy it
else
--the file doesn't already exist. Copy it.
end if
on error
return "Failed while trying to check for existence of a file"
end try
end repeat -
