Do Sharepoint 2013 servers require an internet connection?

Hi All,
Do Sharepoint 2013 servers require an internet connection? I ask as I believe the apps catalog needs to look at Microsoft.com for the store?
Thanks

If you're going to use the App Catalog, yes it does require an Internet connection. Otherwise, no it does not. If you do prevent access to the Internet, you'll want to make sure to follow this process: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2625048

If you open the Maps app where does that say you are located?
For location the iPod uses the location of nearby routers that are in Apple's database of routers and their location. Thus it appears that Apple's database is incorrect. You do not have to be connected to the router, just within range.
Apple periodically updates their database based on information they obtain from iPhones, The iPhone has to have turned on the option to send info to Apple. no one has found another way to get the location of a router added/corrected.
You can confirm that by going to well-know place with wifi like Starbucks or McDonalds

I am not able to access the "Settings" on my iPad 3. I just get a gray screen for about 30 seconds and then the app shuts down. I am also unable to access the App store, iTunes, or any app requiring an internet connection. Any thoughts?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • HT201469 Does Apple Pay require an internet connection in time of purchase?

I'm curious Does Apple Pay require an internet connection in time of purchase?
For example if you are traveling outside of the country and you are in the roaming area and you need to pay with your phone in the store - what will happen if you don't have internet connection?

    Thanks for the response Chris,
I'm leaning towards that direction myself...  The last line of the log exerpt above is:
Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: http://123.456.789.0:8080/guides/framework_4.5.0.21746.swz
So it does seem it's trying to fall back to a local copy, which I know exists, but clearly can't be accessed from that machine.  What doesn't make sense to me if this is the case, is that the user can browse to Workspace on that IP, login successfully, manually start a process, but then it's the guide that fails.  So the connection between the browser and LC exists and is working, it's just this framework that wont fetch!
Anyway, still doing more testing on this - will keep you posted.
    Thanks,
    K.

  • What are Reporting Services SharePoint 2013 licensing requirements?

    Hi All
I have a SharePoint Enterprise 2013 farm of 2 WFE, 2 APP servers.  And an 2012 SQL Enterprise server.
I need Reporting services to be on the farm.
I read all the SharePoint Farm servers running SSRS must have an SQL license, which seems excessive.  I assume it stands as "Additional Software" from the Product Use Document in SQL.  As long as the SQL server is licensed?
What are the licensing options, keeping in mind that there is an SSRS Add-on (which I believe is freely available), and an SSRS instance?
    Cheers

SSRS instances require a SQL Enterprise or BI license, depending on how you want to license it. This license is separate from the SQL Database Engine if not running on the same server.

  • Sharepoint 2013 Servers Architecture

    Hi
Our current architecture of SharePoint 2013 Farm is
    1. WFE server (ip - 10.10.10.10)
    2. A server which is Application server and Database server (ip - 10.10.10.11)
    3.  Application server (Central Admin) (ip - 10.10.10.12)
Load on the site has increased tremendously (Users =5000)(concurrent users =1000 approx.), we would have to now implement a Load balancer to retain the performance of the application.
Now the important question is CAN THIS LOAD BALANCER BE CONFIGURED BETWEEN THE WFE(ip - 10.10.10.10) AND THE Application/Database Server(ip - 10.10.10.11).
    Please suggest.
    Regards
    Paru

    Regd your questions:
    1) As all its said earlier, Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application service should be configured and running on any server which you want to work as WFE. Other than that, you can place whatever services you like to place on WFE. Its totally
a matter of design/architecture. You need to analyse existing resource consumption on the servers and then making a decision based on data.
    2) You can have SQL 2008 R2 SP1 for SP2013 as backend. It need to be minimum running on windows server 2008 R2 SP1.
You may want to go through minimum software and hardware requirements for SP2013 at:

  • SharePoint 2013: Edition requirement for multi tier setup.

    Dear all,
I am planning to setup a high availability 3-tier SharePoint farm.
My question is which edition of SharePoint 2013 should i purchase? Standard version or enterprise version?
My requirement is just a simple document management system.
Any help/guides would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Regards
    vinay

You can use any edition for high availability on the SharePoint side: Foundation, Standard, or Enterprise.
SQL Server is a different story, you'll want to look at the options for high availability available with each edition of SQL Server.

  • Why can't I play my videos on iPhone 6 without requiring an Internet connection?!?! This is absolutely FKSKFIEDJ absurd and apple better come up with a solution.

Seriously, how much of a stupid iinconvenience is this? Why should I require a connection to play the videos I've recorded on my phone?

    Hi
Could I ask a couple of questions please?
It would almost seem from your description that the video is not completely or correctly recorded or that it is some how corrupted. From your description it appears that with the internet connection on - you are able to stream but not play it otherwise
    1. Is this just one affected video or is it happening with other videos as well?
    2. Any chance you can delete and re record the video and see if that solves the problem?

  • My iPod can't connect to Facetime. Message says to check network connection and try again.  I have no trouble accessing other apps requiring an internet connection.

Can't connect to Facetime or messages on iPod touch.  When I try to sign in, message says to check network connection and try again.  I have tried multiple times with both apps with the same result.  There is nothing wrong with my internet connection as I am able to check my e-mail and all of the other apps that require wifi so I can't figure out what the problem is.  Has anyone else had a similar problem?

  • Failed to Sync OneNote 2013 with Sharepoint 2013 - Saying Required Properties option is selected

    Hi All
I am trying to integrating OneNote 2013 with Sharepoint 2013, but whatever i do it came up as:
We can't sync because the Required Properties option is selected on the server. Disable the option, or move the notebook to a new location. (Error code: 0xE0000B9B)
I've followed knowledge based and turn off the Required Properties as i can see off, but error still showing up.
Has anyone encountered this error before?
Thanks a lot for any contribution.

    HI G_Virus,
Please check if any field is set as required, then set it to optional for the OneNote content type from the problem library.
And also check Jannifer's reply mentioned that compare this content type fields to the OneNote without issue from other site collection or farm per the following post, see if it helps.

  • Linksys E1200 patch 2.0.05 build 2 Mar 28, 2013 - still keeps loosing Internet connection

    Hi Guys,
Anyone with the above issue - suddenly now my internet keeps loosing connectivity.
Is it the ISP fibre issue or the cisco linksys e1200.
    Any feedback appreciated.
    many thanks in advance

To properly isolate on which device is not working properly is to disconnect the router from the setup and connect your main computer directly to the modem (via Ethernet cable). You can observe the internet connection through the modem for at least 24 hours. If you find that the modem is working fine (stable) then the problem is with the router. So what you can do is reset the router (pressing and holding the button down) for 15 seconds and power it down for also 15 seconds. You re-configure the internet connection on the router after that. Set the wireless settings, too, like change the SSID, set the channel to something else and make sure that wireless security is enabled. You use WPA2 for wireless security on the router.

  • Need wireless router that doesn't require an internet connection

I have 2 wireless G computers that I want to network.  My internet is a usb modem to verizon wireless.  What equipment do I need to connect them?  The last wireless modem I bought required DSL or Cable.  What models don't?  Thanks

Use your windows network wizard to set up a Peer to Peer network between your computers. One computer will have direct access to the net via the USB modem the other one will have access via the first one.

  • SharePoint 2013 Filter Web Part configure connection webpage blank

    Hi,
I've got a problem at one of my clients. I'm trying to connect a filter web part to a document library.
I'm configuring a connection and the first pop-up (where you can configure a "Get Parameters From or Get Filter Values from" connection type) shows up fine.
When I select one of the options the next screen is all blank.
I've used IE in different modes (IE 11, IE 10 IE 9) and also tried using Chrome, but all the same result.
    Can anyone help me?

    Hi Elmar,
According to your description, my understanding is that the Configure Connection webpage of the filter web part was blank.
I recommend to add the site where the filter web part existed to the trusted zone and add to compatibility view in Internet Explorer to see if the issue still occurs.
    Best regards.
    Thanks
