Do some ISPs pick up the dynamic global hostname (global Bonjour)?

Wouldn't it be nice if ISPs would pick up the dynamic global hostname (aka global Bonjour) and feed it via 'mybonjourname.provider.com' to their DNS servers?
As long as one knows one's ISP and leaves the computer (or Time Capsule or AEBS) always connected to the same ISP, one would not need any dynamic DNS service. Particular since it is a bit difficult to get a dynamic DNS client run on a Time Capsule not connected to a computer...

Background: I recently purchased a MacBook Pro (MBP) and a Time Capsule (TC) installed at home. I use the TC for back-ups, as well as a home server to store music, photographs, personal and work archives of information. I want to be able to access the content that I have inside my TC from anywhere. I have three Apple laptops, all of them with a family dot.mac account, however, they may not be on or at home at all times, therefore my challenge is to be able to access the TC content from anywhere when only the TC is ON and no other laptops may be on. Unfortunately only Macs can use and update the dot.mac with the Back to my Mac (BTMM) feature, and the TC does not have a way to use BTMM by itself. The Airport Extreme (AE) and the TC the same (or very similar) router software modules built-in. Most routers have a built-in way to enter a dynamic IP or DNS updater (global bonjour). The dot.mac is one such global DNS updaters, but it does not use an open architecture. Another global DNS updater is DynDNS. I opened a DynDNS account, and in the TC I turned ON file sharing and in Airport > Time Capsule > Edit I entered the DynDNS information. If the global bonjour updater functioned well, this last action should instruct the TC to keep my DynDNS account informed of its IP address at all time. This would allow me when on travel to go to the web page of my DynDNS account, visualize the current IP address of my TC, click on it or cut and paste in the"Go to Server", and this would automatically mount the TC Hard Disk on my Desktop. However this is not working as planned. The software of the Time Capsule accepts the global bonjour account of DynDNS but fails to update it with its current IP address, as a result, the DynDNS knows the first IP address when you first program it, but as soon as the IP address of the TC changes it stops working (and this could be a matter of minutes, hours, days or weeks). I have used Linkys and DLink routers in the past, and they have worked flawlessly with DynDNS and other IP Updaters. However, I have never been able to use the TC IP updater features reliably.
+The issues:+ (a) Airport Extreme (AE) and Time Capsule (TC) router software modules have a global bonjour feature that is not working well with DynDNS and do not update it when its IP address changes. (b) There is no way to program a dot.mac account on the AE or TC and use dot.mac BTMM feature to access the disks mounted on the AE or TC without invoking another computer with dot.mac; By other words, if we want to access remotely (outside our LAN, via the internet) a disk connected to our AE or TC, we must have a Mac in the same LAN with either a dot.mac account or a DynDNS account, otherwise we are unable to find its IP address to access the TC directly.
As far as I know, until Apple updates the AE or TC software to either use dot.mac or reliably update an IP updater like DynDNS, we will not be able to reliable access a TC remotely without another Mac in the same LAN doing the IP updating. If anyone can shed some additional light on this issue I will appreciate if.

Your best bet is probably the return to Version 2 of Numbers, where Category View is an included option.
In Version 3, the best approach is to build a separate table in which to list the members of the categories and calculate the subtotals using LOOKUP and SUMIF expressions.

I have Time Capsule 2TB, and i have an issue about it, which its how to connect to it via internet?
i know that i must have mobileme account and to be added to advanced in the airport utility.
then i have to setup the Dynamic Global Host Name, this is my problem?
how can i get the Dynamic Global host Name?
Is it from ISP?
is it supported by some regions? or all over the countries?
if so, is it supported in Egypt?
i gave a try and i contact my ISP (Vodafone) but they didnt hear anything or even know anything about the Dynamic Global Host Name. If from ISP, what could i tell them to understand me?
because when i asked about DGHN, no one understand me.

That sounds backwards. The public IP address 196.168.0.4 is administered out of Mauritius, which should make what you see a WAN address. An IP address 10.0.1.1 is a "private" IP address, which you'd expect to see in a LAN behind a NATting router.
(Back to My Mac isn't working properly because you may have more than one device on your network providing Network Address Translation (NAT). Try disabling NAT on one of the devices )
As it says, that means that you are behind multiple layers of routers providing translation of network addresses. Can you tell what WAN address is being assigned to your ADSL modem/router? I'd still try to put that device into "bridge" mode.

Wide-Area Bonjour / Dynamic Global Hostname

I have a very specific problem, My AEBS is not sending UPDATE requests to my own DNS server when my DSL IP address changes over time.
I have my own DNS server and run a dynamic zone with TSIG aututhentication.
If I configure the "Dynamic global hostname" on my Macs behind my AEBS acting as a NAT gateway, they will register themselves withe the correctly natted address.
In fact, this is amazing and works very well:

I can force the update by restarting my AEBS, but this is not a good workaround.

Can anyone share his expiriance on setting up a dynamic global hostname service on Lion Server?

Can some companies can go around the flash global/website storage settings?

I've experienced this a few times: I've been visiting a website and a Lysol or Spray and Wash ad appears in a flash window and starts to play. I've noticed that it really slows down my older computer, and check (each time) the global and website storage settings on the Adobe site.
What I've see is that it's:
- from "TV2N"; when I click on it it goes to the website http://www.jdproject.com/
- when I click on settings I see that the flash settings allow 10K to be stored locally on my computer by "m1.2mdn.net"
I've attached two *.jpegs as evidence of what I'm talking about.
I find this very strange since I've adjusted both my global/website settings to not allow any information to be stored on my computer. So my question is: are some companies going around a users global/website storage settings for the flash player?

Wiki for home user connecting with ISP who blocks the port 80

I setup a Standalone Wiki at home with a connection to an internet router but the ISP blocks the default port 80. I'm not experienced in Advanced Server mode and wants to get it done in server preference instead of Server Admin.
I did a risky procedure by run the Admin server to tweak the Web service - change the port from 80 to 16080. And managed the users sometimes in workgroup Manager and sometimes in Server preference ->groups. It runs well in the first days but then I restart the server I found, "Not Found
404: No group with that name (mac) hosted on this server" error.
the folders were still there but the server reports this error. I attempt to delete and add in Server preference for another group but in vain. the user blog is prefect. you can try http://khszeto.dyndns.org:16080/users/

It's likely Server Admin being referenced.
You can change the port using the Apache configuration (text) files and setting up a virtual host on an alternate port, or you can use Server Admin to set this up for you. The Apache files are pretty clear around how to do this, and SA is itself pretty easy.
I'd probably not use a direct connection into the Apache port (16000 + the "real" Apache port) for web access (when the performance cache is enabled) as the base reply here has used, I'd tend to stick to the designated port. I'd tend to use one of the "traditional" alternate ports for the web server. These can be 81, 8080 or 8000. There's no tweak for 16080, as that port is part of how Apache works when the performance cache is enabled on port 80.
The other aspect here is usually dynamic DNS, as most folks that are seeking this lack static IP address, and the lack of a static IP makes dynamic DNS a requirement for in-bound access. The IP addresses on some ISPs can shift fairly frequently. This was mentioned earlier.
And FWIW, Mac OS X Server generally wants a static IP address.
I'll leave you to deal with the terms and conditions and requirements for your ISP. Some will explicitly disallow server access. Many will monitor network traffic. Most want you to purchase static IP and related.

What is "Dynamic Global Hostname" in Internet Options? Is it DDNS?

If you have an Airport Extreme or a Time Capsule with updated firmware you will find "Use dynamic global hostname" in: Airport Utility > Internet tab > Internet options. There is literally no Apple provided documenation on this setting within the device's user manual, instructions, or online support. The only documenation you will find are on various blogs and forums such as this one. So, here is a screenshot of the setting and my questions below:
1. I'm assuming that this is where I can setup Dynamic DNS if I have an account with a DDNS provider such as DynDNS or NoIP. Is this correct?
2. If this is where I can setup DDNS, then what should the hostname be? Should it be the hostname I have setup with a DDNS provider, like this: MySite.DDNS.com? Or, should the hostname include my device's actual hostname, like this: TimeCapsule.MySite.DDNS.com?
3. For the "User" and "Password" fields, should this be the account that I have with the DDNS provider? If yes, then what is the format of the username.. is it just my DDNS account username: "MyAccount"? Or, should it be: [email protected]?
I'm trying to setup DDNS because I'd like to have remote SSH access to several of my Linux systems on my network and I don't want to configure a DDNS client on the Linux systems if the Time Capsule can do it. This is because my Time Capsule will always be online but my Linux systems are not always online.
Thanks for any help with this setting! It is definitely strange because "Dynamic Global Hostname" is not an "industry standard" term. Typically, it is called "Dynamic DNS" instead. So that's why I'm trying to figure out what this setting really is and if it can help me with my DDNS and remote access needs.

Hope that helps anybody else. I assumed that the user/pass were the ones used to login to the account but nope, they're not.

Document Version picker – Modify the Asset Picker.

We have a requirement to provide a SharePoint document ‘version’ picker. The document library has flat structure with metadata used in views to group and filter documents. Another document library has folders. We wish to pick documents from both libraries
but must be able to select the version too.
This picker will be called from an infopath form which stores some sort of reference not the doc itself.
There are not OOB document pickers which allow you select the document version.
The Asset Picker (using AssetPortalBrowser.aspx) seems to most of what we want. A document library selector on a left pane, library views and filters on the right pane. I understand this can be called from custom coded dialog and used a document picker if
configured to select links.
I would like to customise the Asset Picker to :-
a) Display and select a document version. The edit menu option show versions but you cannot select it.
b) Remove unwanted options such as Site Pages, Site Assets, Form Template etc
and c) restrict the views allowed as we have some admin views which should not be selected?
I was looking for a way to extend and override the class SP.UI.AssetLibrary but this is not public. I really do not want to modify _layouts/15/AssetPortalBrowser.aspx directly as these change are not be global. Is there underlying class
structure which I can call achieve the same results?

based on OOB, seems asset picker not able to show this version of docs, that you mentioned before.
as i checked, the class for assetlibrary class not have the class to get this property, and this version information, is saved within the SPFile class.
the documents that is shown by asset picker will be only the latest version of the document.
i am not quite sure how to join this using OOB feature, most probably you may need to create your own custom coding for this.

Airport Extreme -Dynamic Global Hostname-

Is somebody using the "Use Dynamic Global Hostname" ( under Internet/Internet Options ) with "No-Ip.com" ?
I learned that DynDNS doesn't supprt this so I am wondering if No-Ip does.

I was wondering if DynDNS supported this because I have used No-Ip and it apparently does not. Or at least it is an undocumented feature if it does. No-Ip does have an updater application that you run on your computer which will update the ip address on their site. This is fine for most uses.
What I have gleaned from searching is that DynDNS did support using that setting until Apple removed wide-area Bonjour from the Airport Utility software interface. However the latest version still includes the settings. So I was thinking that perhaps it would still work for the purpose of updating your dns. One thing I have noticed is that some posts here suggest the user and password are of the DynDNS account itself, whereas on the DynDNS site I have seen a support document which suggests that you need to provide a Transaction Signature. Something which has to be created from your account on their site.

because I have other restriction, so I create two restricted key figure..
RK1 with restriction : Total Number of Note,
RK2 with restriction : Total Opening Days ,
then I Created a calculated key figure, average opening days in a period
CK1 = RK2 / RK1..
in this case, I am not sure if it will work or not..
for example, during RK2 calclation, it might be this   2+3 = 5, the line with 0 will be ignored..
during RK1 calcualtion, it might be 1 + 1 + 1 = 3. ---> Not sure in this case, the line with opening days 0 will be calculated or not..

Unable to pick up the file from Receive Location

BizTalk is unable to pick up the files from receive location.
My admin console is working so slow.
It is showing the problem of snap-in as follows:
I have checked all my receive location and its masking,it is working fine.
Actually it is working fine in dev server(snap-in problem is not occuring in dev server ) but when I import MSI and binding in UAT server.
It is not picking up the file from receive location.
I want to know one more thing :if my message box database is not working fine,will it receive the files from receive location.

For files not received by receive location. If the Receive Location is still enabled but files are not processed by Receive Location, then check whether the host instance configured with your receive location is running. If the host instance is in
running state, restart the host instance and try.
Regarding the error in the admin console as shown in the image, people started to see this issue with admin console from BizTalk 2009 onwards. This happens in cases like you have done some activity with console and before its been refreshed it you do more
activities like expanding the node you will see this error. Sometimes WMI is bit slowly to refresh your admin console screen. Just wait for few seconds untill the WMI screen is rendered completely. Ensure you have all the cumulative updates installed for your
version of BizTalk and also ensure the service pack for your OS is updated.
Obviously if message box is not working, files will not be received/processed. But if message box is not in healthy state this would affect all other application not just one and in-fact it would affect entire BizTalk not just Receive Locations.
To start analysing this file not been processed by Receive Location, start with checking the host instance as mentioned.
