Do songs auto-download when played in iOS 7?

Apple says "iOS devices will start playing tracks from iCloud as they download and will store them so that you can listen to them later even if you don’t have a network connection," but that is not my experience. When I play a song, it is not added to my Music library on my iPhone. Now, this may be because I don't have enough free space; I don't know. But is there some way to turn this feature, that existed in iOS 6, back on in iOS 7?
iPhone 4S

I have an app—TrailMix Pro—that only works with songs actually downloaded to my iPhone. I use iTunes Match fairly regularly, but zero songs show up. This is part of why I was wondering if there was a way to re-enable the iOS 6 behavior that the Apple site cites, of downloading each song played to the Library.

  • As of today, neither sample songs on the music store nor songs already downloaded will play correctly.  They are stuttery and slow.  I have iTunes 10.5 and have not downloaded any upgrades for anything recently.  They were working last night. Thoughts?

I found a solution that worked for me.  Here is what I did and where I found it.
"Looks like I tracked down the problem, it worked for me so I hope this works for everyone else experiencing problems.  Go to your Task Manager and locate the program APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push)..... if you see this executing terminate the program and then startup iTunes and it should come up fine.  You will see afterwards that APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push) starts back up but this is fine as long as iTunes has already started.
I tried playing both music and syncing up my iPhone with no problems.  Note if you shutdown iTunes again you will have to terminate the process APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push) again.  Haven't had time to see what in the world Apple Push is but this appears to have corrected the problem so that you can at least use iTunes and sync any device that needs to be synced.
    Hope that helps everyone!"

  • Deleted songs keep downloading when syncing iPhone.

I download the free iTunes songs and listen to them on the way to work. If I don't like them, I delete them after I've synced my phone at home. I've never had a problem until last week. Now the songs keep downloading again when I sync my phone. I know I can choose to not sync them to the phone, and have done that for now. It's driving me crazy not being able to delete them for good though. Any suggestions?

    Problem solved on another discussion.

I think I found a solution - at least it worked for me for now.
I unchecked the song in iTunes and deleted it off the iPhone and off itunes at the same time, whilst being disconnected. With the next sync, the song did not come back. The spell is broken!
hope it works for you too.
    Stefan.

  • How do i turn off the auto delete when played feature in new update?

how do I turn off the auto delete after playing an item in latest update?

After the disaster of iTunes 11.1 that deleted nearly all my archived podcasts (recovered from backup thankfullly) I was shocked, but not altogether surprised, to see that the option to delete played episodes has been enabled/re-enabled by default.
From the lower right of the Podcasts window click Settings then, if needed, click Defaults, then turn Delete Played Episodes to Off.
Why set the destructive option as the default?
I have many episodes that I want to keep that are no longer available at their feed so the last thing I want is any automatic delete process to be enabled.

  • Stop auto download and play of embedded video

How do I stop automatic download and play of embedded video on a website in Safari
    Please help
    Bruce

There is a preference setting in ClickToFlash (2.8.5) that will change default from autoplay to preload for html5 videos (Safari preferences, then select ClickToFlash, and click the checkbox to access settings for ClickToFlash, then go to the Media Player tab).  That seemed to fix the problem. This should be built into Safari but apparently is not.

  • IPod when sync'ed stops all my songs I downloaded from playing.

I put a play list on my iPod and it would only play my songs that I got off my CDs but everything I paid online for now do not play even in MusicMatch Jukebox. I can see them but they will not play on anything. What gives? I paid a lot of money to hear and now they are nothing. Is this what happens when we subscribe to iTunes and not use just their songs? I am confused here. All I wanted to do was change the play list on the iPod. Bummed out in Washington State...

I am not sure what being subscribed to iTunes is and you can probably tell that I am new at this. What I had was lots of songs I had bought all the regular places before iPod came into my life and put a bunch of my music from purchased CDs onto my play list on Musicmatch. When I got my iPod, I wanted to put music on it so I opened up the iTunes program and had all my music put into that library. I then put music on the iPod, no problem. I discovered that it put my kids music on it and so I wanted to change the playlist. From what I thought I read on the manual I downloaded was to sync the music while hooked up to the iPod and it would change the music only it went to grey out all my music I had purchased previously and did not change the play list on my iPod. Any help here?

  • Songs not downloading when in iTunes

so i just got my iPod and whenever i plugged my iPod in yesterday it automatically updated all checked files. well today i have somemore checked files i want on my iPod and the only way i know how to get it on my iPod is to let it auto-update. also note that yestday on my left handed side of itunes in the library section my ipod was avaliable to look at. today it is not when i plug it in and load up itunes. my question is how do i get my iPod to be recognized by iTunes and how else do i get songs onto my iPod.

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
    Still no joy, see these.
iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod.
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes.
iPod does not appear in iTunes.
Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported.
    Strange iPod behavior.

  • A song I downloaded wont play even though I have authorized it

I just bought a song off of the itunes library, but when I go to play it it says I need authorization. I authorize it, and it still will not work. What is going on?

It's corrupt. Delete and redownload it if doing so is free in your country.

  • Some Song Info Lost When Played or Info Viewed

I've only noticed this on one song so far, but it's driving me crazy. Whenever this song plays, or I click "Get Info" the artwork and number of tracks on the album for that song are lost. (So under track, it goes from saying "5 of 12" to "5".) I had no idea what to search for exactly as far as past posts, anyone had this problem?

If TidyMP3 doesn't fix it, then it's some deeper problem with your system. TidyMP3 strips a file to the bone. It takes away all tags, of any type whatsoever. It works by simply removing everything that isn't a music frame from the file. What's left is just totally bare. Then, when you use iTunes to add tags, you're working with the cleanest possible file.
So if Tidying the file still causes problems, you have some deeper problem. The file isn't writable or some other program is reworking the tags and eliminating the artwork, or something else. This is not an iTunes problem or a problem with the file. There must be some third factor at work.

  • How do I stop ITunes from loading songs into library when played from an external hard drive

How do I stop ITunes from loading every song I play into my library from an external hard drive?

    Mac OS X: Double-Clicking a File Opens the Wrong Application - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2291
-= Changing the application used to open all files of a certain kind (written with reference to OSX 10.4 but may not have changed) =-
    1) In a Finder window highlight a file of the kind you want to change the application to open that kind of file.
    2) While that file is highlighted, select File > Get Info or press command (apple or propeller icon) + i to get a file information window.
    3) In the lower part of the info window there is an "open with" menu with a list of applications.
    4) If your application is already in the box then it is the default application for opening that kind of file and you don't need to do anything more.  Close the get info window.
    5) If the application showing in the menu is not the one with which you wish to open the file then select a new application. If your application does not appear there then select the "other..." and track down the application (usually in the Applications folder at the main level of the computer).
    6) If you wish to change all files of this type to open with this application in future, make sure the "change all" button is selected.
    7) Close the get info window.

  • Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) Auto Download when single clicking

    Dear Apple Forum,
A strange malfunction happened this morning.
I visited 2 websites and when I single clicked on a button the entire page was downloaded to my computer when abviously not instructed to.
I shutdown my computer ran Disk Utility and rebooted.
Is this a "one off" glitch? First time it's happened to me! Hope it's the last.

One source for a retail version of Tiger is TheNerds.net. Mac OS 9.2.2 does not come with Tiger, so you will have to install Classic after you install Tiger.

  • Songs are skipping when played on secondary hard drive

    Hey all,
I have a late-2011 Macbook Pro. I installed an SSD and then replaced my optical drive with my original HDD. I re-linked my iTunes media folder to be on the old drive. Everything in my library is playable, however songs are skipping and sometimes iTunes freezes completely. Any reason this would happen? Could it have something to do with spotlight indexing or is it a sign of something more serious? Just yesterday all of these songs were playing fine with the HDD as my primary.
    Thanks!

I am not familiar with the insides of a MBP but I am wondering if putting a HDD on a bus designed for an optical drive is what is causing the problem.
