Do the apple store stock every configuration of Macbook Pro?

I'm considering buying a 13 inch retina MacBook Pro soon, probably 512GB, and was wondering what configurations apple keep in store? I've noticed that on the apple store you can configure MacBooks to have more RAM ext, and was wondering if all these are stocked in the stores, or would I need to order one online and take it into store? I'm really not the most tech savvy person, so wouldn't be comfortable setting up a new mac and transferring all my data over from my PC, so I'd need to visit a store for s omeone to assist me, and my nearest apple store is 100 miles away so I'd like to know they have the macbook I want! Also if I decide I won't want a configured one, just the normal retina 13 inch 512GB, am I just able to walk into store, buy it and have them move all my files, or do I need to make an appointment? Thanks for your help!
Probably in the wrong category sorry!

No, they will have the base models.  Otherwise you will have to order one to match your preferences via the store or online.
Ciao.

  • Do apple stores stock their top spec macbook pros?

I have been told that apple dont stock the top spec macbook pro with retina display and that you have to order it online to be delivered, however I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't. If anyone could tell me if they do or not that would be great.
    These are the specs:
2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
    16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
    512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
Backlit Keyboard (British) & User's Guide (English)
    Thanks.

They stock basic configurations of each model. They do not stock models that require online modification. Those are called CTO - Configured To Order  - orders. Those must be ordered online.

  • I have a CD stuck in the drive.  Is there are quick fix or do I need to take it into an Apple store.  I have a MacBook Pro 15"

I have a disc stuck in the drive.  Is there a fix I can perform or do I need to bring my MacPro to the Apple store?
    Phil

    Here are some standard remedies.
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

  • Can not turn off, disable, mute, STOP the Apple boot start up chime on MacBook Pro using Yosemite 10.10.1

I understand why Apple forces the boot chime upon us for marketing and diagnostics, but I really want to disable the start up chime when booting my MacBook Pro laptop.
I have tried the sudo commands that worked in Mavericks.
    nvram SystemAudioVolume=%80
    and
    nvram SystemAudioVolume=%00
They do not work with Yosemite.
I have also tried muting my laptop before shutting down and muting the sound entirely in System Preferences.  This method does not work either.
Every time I boot the laptop I have to annoy every one in the library, or the cafe, or the airport, or the workplace.
Anyone have a solution for this?

I did that prior to posting, and the choices are very limited, or unreliable based on comments.  There doesn't seem to be an app that can do this for 10.10.1 StartNinja was the only app that seems decent, but doesn't list Yosemite as a supported OSX version. I would like to avoid using an app to accomplish this anyway.
Then you are out of luck.  Apple does not provide an on & off option or software regarding the start up chimes.

  • Tried the "Apple Bake" on my early 2008 macbook pro and it worked, does that mean for certain it is my Nividia chip that is bad?

So I had my early 2008 macbook pro (A1260) not wake up after clamshell sleep. After researching the boards felt confident it was the logicboard issue. Not being able to afford a replacement I decided to try the "apple bake", as I have been employed as a maintenance tech for a corrugation company and was comfortable doing the work myself. Anyhow it worked (350 degree f - 8mins) and my mac was back to life working as normal except for the fans running at %100 all the time. The fix was short lived, only lasted about 5 weeks and wouldnt wake up from sleep again. (yes, I applied new thermal paste the first time haha) I did the bake again and again it was revived this time fans working properly (still not sure what that was about) I have since had to do it one more time and now I just dont ever close it or let it go to sleep. I found a guy online who will replace the gpu for a good price ($150), my question is, is it actually the Nividia chip thats the issue and not something else? Is there any other issue that would be reolved by doing the bake and Im just thinking its the faulty 8600 geforce chip?
    Macbook Pro 4,1 - 10.6.8 - 2.6ghz Core 2 Duo - 4gb 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM
Other issues I had aside from not waking up from sleep
-Strange feedback noise coming from speakers in between any audio being played. (intermittent) any audio will stop the noise. (might be unrelated)
-Dark lines from bottom of screen to top. Screen reset will fix (shift+cntrl+eject)
    -Pixeleation when gaming (intermittent)
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks in advance

I am purchasing tv shows from the itunes store to my macbook pro.  I can't sync them to my itouch.  I used to get 2 version to download an HD and non HD no longer happening.  What is the problem?  Never had an issue before just started.

You did everything 'right' and yet in most cases such as you present, it turns out to be a bad SATA cable 99% of the time.
I, too, have a Late 2011 15" model and never had a problem with my SATA cable and my SSD. Most people don't. But then there are those few who do.
You can likely find a 'warrantied' cable on www.ifixit.com - however, I've never heard of anyone having problems with the much less expensive options on eBay!

  • Why doesn't the App Store connect/load on my MacBook Pro lately?

For a few months, now, I haven't been able to connect to/load the App Store on my MacBook Pro. All I get is the spinning wheel of death and an error message. Any suggestions/fixes?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • The iMovie 11 update I just bought from the App Store will not install on Macbook Pro

I have a Macbook Pro and I have iLife 09, I updated all the other iLife 09 apps to iLife 11 (iPhoto, Garage Band) . So I bought the update for iMovie yesterday and it seems to downloaded fine but when I click the install button it doesn't do anything. Can you guys point me in the right direction to get this installed
    Thanks

You have a corrupted old system. At the very least you need to repair the hard drive and permissions before trying to install Mountain Lion. However, this my not be sufficient. You may need to reinstall your old system before trying to install Mountain Lion.
Of course it would be more useful were you to provide the full information on the error message and what OS X version you currently have installed. Also check that you can install Mountain Lion on your model:
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)

  • How can I remove someone else's Apple ID from a grayed-out box, so I can log in and download an Update in the App Store? I have a Macbook Pro.

I am able to add apps, use my apple id via iTunes but when I have to update the basic software apps that came with the laptop from my job, it won't allow me to update. It shows another apple id login in gray. I am unable to put mine in. I deleted the user under user accounts already, restarted my laptop and it is still there. Please help! The person no longer works there and I have no way to contact them.

When you update apps you have to be singed into the ID that purchased the apps.
Delete the apps and purchase them with your account if you want to update them.

  • HT1338 I cannot download from the app store Mountain Lion to my MacBook pro 17" why?

hi I keep getting the message "We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer." Yet my macBook is from mid 2007. Any surgestions?

Well if the store is telling you it is not compatable it must be seeing something. As your system is right at the lower edge, mid 2007's are the first modles shown supported. it is possible that you sysm might have been manufactured before the cutoff date.
Go to About this Mac and  then System Report post all the info for hardware overview except for serial number and uuid.

  • Just downloaded OS X Mountain Lion from the App Store last night. My MacBook Pro has been restarting itself whenever it feels like it at least 3 times today. Help? July 2010 MacBook Pro.

Just wondering if anyone has a solution? If so, write its simply, I'm not much of a techy person.

Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.

  • Will i get the same care from the Apple Website as i do when buying from the Apple Store?

I am looking into buying an iPad mini 3 for christmas, i wanted to get the free engraving which only comes when you order from the website.
I was wondering if i will get the same level of care buying from the website as i did from the Apple Store?
I purchased a MacBook Pro from the Apple Store in Bath, UK about 3 years ago now, and when my Hard Drive packed up i took it into the Apple Store in Cardiff, UK to get it looked at. They replaced my Hard Drive there and then; free of charge as they were able to trace my purchase back to the Apple Store despite it being out of warranty. Will it be the same if there ever was a problem if i was to buy it off of the Apple Website?

The warranty is the warranty. Your device will be backed if it's bought from the site or brick and mortar store or even an authorized third party (in other words I bought my iPad at best buy and I can still take it into an apple store and have them back the warranty)

  • Do Apple Stores stock the Invisible Shield?

Im based in the uk, but a friend is heading over to San Fransico next week and im wondering if the apple stores stock the invisible shield or will i have to order from the invisible shield website?
    cheers guys

    Hi there,
AFAIK the only way to get them is via their website.
I'm from Germany and have been looking around the last days to find a German or at least European dealer, thinking it might arrive faster. Haven't had any luck though :/
So, I ordered mine 2 days ago via the website. I'm pretty curious how long it will take to arrive here.
    Cheers from Germany,
    Mara
