Do the new slim USB keyboards work with OSX 10.4.7?

Hi everyone,
I really want to get one of those new slim apple USB keyboards for my iMac, but it says on its product description page that the system requirements are OSX 10.4.10. I have 10.4.7 running on my iMac, don't want to update it coz my everything is working perfectly and my theory is if it ain't broke, why fix it? So was wondering if I did get the keyboard anyway, would it work with 10.4.7?
I do hear horror stories of people updating their software and having nightmarish problems thereafter, thats why am very cautious about updating my software, as currently I am in a real sweet spot of stability, and don't want to upset that.
Thanks for your responses in advance!

Well I got the slim keyboard (love it), and did the updates till 10.4.10 as required. It all went ok, but got blue screen of death after the quicktime update, and had to do a hard reset (my first ever on my iMac), and is all ok now - so far...
But! The best bit was - the Gfx card performance is up 20% :))
(I do graphics work, ran a couple of tests after the updates. Neat!)
The updates probably had a Gfx card driver update...
I guess its win win all round, just hope i don't have any stability issues now - fingers crossed!

The "new" hotmail no longer works with safari, but works with firefox. Hmm. i find this very convenient being a microsoft product. anybody else wonder why this new version happens to not be safari compatible? does anybody know if it works on the PC version of safari? if not, i find this to be a blatant move on microsofts part to bias the safari browser (especially since its basicly new on the window platform). forcing safari/hotmail users to "have" to use another browser to access their hotmail accounts.

I have been successfully using Hotmail and Gmail with Safari for a long time. For roughly the past month, that relationship is rocky at best. At times, one of the following actions suddenly opens Hotmail, but it is a short-lived solution:
    (a) Hotmail directly
    (b) Hotmail Home>Hotmail
    (c) Sign up to Windows Hotmail
    (d) Deletion of prescribed cookies, resetting, etc. - made no difference
Both Firefox and Opera work fine with Hotmail - especially Opera is very fast.
In addition, Safari and Gmail does not work with Attachments, but otherwise Gmail is OK.
I suspect I have to wait for a Safari fix because in my case I do not wish to abandon Hotmail, and Safari is a given. I would think that Safari would want to stay competitive with the two biggies, Hotmail and Gmail, which must have large numbers of users.
I certainly would appreciate any other suggested fixes.

  • I upgraded Safari in my Mac (10.6.8 Leopard) but the new version does not work with my system so that I now have not a working browser. How can I solve the problem and/or install back my previous Safari version?

I have upgraded Safari in my Mac, but the new Safari does not work with my system. So I find myself without any working browser. How can I solve this problem and/or install my previous Safari version?

Reinstall Safari 5.1.10 for OS X 10.6.8: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1569. Might do the trick.
But, frankly, I don't think that simply reinstalling the old Safari will work because of all the peripheral, under the hood changes that happen when you upgrade from one version of Safari to another. Reinstalling 5.1.10 may be insufficient to turn back the clock. (This is the moment where a Time Machine or another form of full backup would save your bacon.)
While you're getting a copy of Safari 5.1.10, get a copy of Firefox (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/desktop/), too, so that you have an alternate browser to use as you're sorting matters.

  • Tactile response of the new slim aluminium keyboard

Those who have the new slim aluminium keyboard may please share their experience on the feel of this new keyboard for tuch typing. The keys are different from teh previous Apple keyboard. I am used to the old kyboard, where the keys go some disatnce down while typing.

Hi! It depends on what you like. If you like your keyboard, and the keys going down, you won't like the new one. But if you prefer a laptop kind of keyboard, more silent and less distance down while typing, the new one is for you
I've used both of them, and I definitely love the new one, it feels really soft and I type much more quickly... but as I said before, it depends on what kind of keyboard you like.

  • Why wont the new version of aperture work with Nik complete software. I uninstalled and re installed Nik and it still wont work.

Why wont the new version of aperture work with Nik complete software. I uninstalled and re installed Nik and it still wont work.

I believe that Nik is having trouble adhering to Apple's "identified developer" requirements.
there is a FAQ on Nik site regarding problems with their installers.
    a guess.

  • Does the new version of lightroom work with an old CS5 photoshop?

Does the new version of Lightroom work with an old CS5 photoshop?

Yes - they will work together.
However, the Camera Raw versions will not match - meaning you may have to render your file into a tiff to bake-in your LR Settings before passing the file to PS CS5,

  • I have a G5 Power Mac with dual 1.8 processors. I recently upgraded the software fro 10.4.11 to 10.5.8 in order to get an iPad 2. Now my Adobe Photoshop 7 won't work any longer. All the newer Phtoshop versions only work with Intell processors. Does anyone

..know of an older Photoshop version that will work with my processors and system 10.5.8?
    Thanks,

I believe I had this issue with PS7 when I first upgraded from OS 9 to OS X 10.2 Jaguar.
Couldn't get PS 7 to launch at all.
I ended up having to update all of my Adobe apps to the CS edition to be sure every Adobe app functioned without a hitch.
I am not sure where you'll find older versions of Adobe software, though.
You could try and contact Adobe direct to see if they have any older versions on disc left in stock or not.
Short or that I  really do not know.
PS CS 4 was the last universal version that works with PPC Macs.
Pixelmator used to be available for 10.5 Leopard, but it's no longer available for PPC Macs, either.
    http://www.pixelmator.com/
Could contact them to see if they have the older version still available on disc or as a download.
This is a pay app, also.
Another pay app that may work for you is Graphic Converter.
    http://www.lemkesoft.com/
The other options are the ones already mentioned in the previous reply.
Other than Pixelmator, the other offerings are quite limited compared to PS.
    Here's the link to Seashore.
    http://seashore.sourceforge.net/The_Seashore_Project/About.html
A free open source Unix replacement for PS is The Gimp
    http://www.gimp.org/macintosh/
You need to install X11 in order to use this app.
If you installed 10.5, you'll need to check your Applications folder to see if X11 was installed by default.
If not you'll need to go back to your OS X 10.5 install discs and do a custom install and just install X11 from disc.
This will just add the additional program and extensions and will not erase your installation of OS X 10.5.

  • Garagekey USB keyboard works with MacBook Pro, but not with 27"  iMac

Just got a brandnew 27" iMac. The Garagekey USB keyboard doesn't work. It's recognized in systemProfiler, Audio-Midi Setup, GarageBand and Logic. But no Midi is coming in. When I plug it into my MacBook Pro, it works immediately. I know the Garagekey doesn't work with some 3rd party USB hubs, maybe for lack of enough power, but it works always at the internal USB hubs with the MacBook Pro. Why doesn't it with the 27" iMac? I'm cueless...
The IMac Systemprofiler says: Current Available (mA) 500, Current Required (mA) 300. So I guess, it can't be a power problem?

Have the same problem with Logic Pro. Works on my old Mac Mini but not on the new iMac 27" i5. Apple told me that it is a difference between the boards they used on the two computers. They said that even if I got a new mac mini I would run into the same problem. they recommended that I upgrade my mini, or try another piece of hardware to connect the two. Looking for hardware now. Good luck to you.

  • Will a Saittek Eclipse usb keyboard work with an Intel Mac Mini?

The Saittek Eclipse is my favorite keyboard.
Anybody know if it will work with an Intel Mac Mini.
Box only says Windows, but I'm just wondering if everything except volume controls will work fine? (it is also illuminated, with a light level control, but I'm guessing this shouldn't matter with Windows vs OS X?)

I am a writer though  and a photographer (strictly point and shoot) for a couple of orgs.  I just don't want o run out of space.  And I hate!! slow response time.
Is the i5 adequate as well?
Glad to have found an Apple guru so quickly.  May very well buc you more in the future.

  • HOW DOES THE NEW MBOX 2 MINI WORK WITH THE MAC MINI?

    I have a old original Mac mini 1.25GHz with 1 GB SDRAM - 40GB Ultra ATA drive, 4x SuperDrive (DVD±RW/CD-RW) OS 10.3
I also have just added the new MAC MINI 1.66 CTO OS 10.4
    with the following configuration:
    * Processor 065-6673 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo
    * Memory 065-6676 1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM-2x512
    * Hard Drive 065-6750 120GB Serial ATA drive
    * Optical Drive 065-6679 Combo Drive
In addition, I have a MicroNet 150 GB external hard drive.
The 3 are linked together so that the icons for the MircroNet and the old Mac mini are shown on the New Mac mini desktop.
I’ve kept the New MM as is for apps, moved most of the files and folders to the MNet, and have done a reinstall on the old MM, getting rid of almost everthing that was on it originally except the OSX and apps.
I’m thinking about using the old MM to set up a recording studio. This would involve the new MBox 2 Mini with ProTools LE. For details, just Google it. It comes 2 ways, configured for the G4 MM or for the new Intel MM. I’d rather not clutter up the new MM with this, as sometimes the Digidesign Pro Tools apps can be a bit toxic.
If I get the MBox 2 Mini and run it on the old MM, will this work? Has anyone tried this? Do I have enough processing power and speed, ram and hard drive space?
    Thanks!

MAC MINI 1.66 Intel Core Duo, Mac mini 1.25GHz MicroNet 150 GB external hard drive.   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi Larry,
I just purchased a Mbox 2 Mini. I am running it flawlessly with my Core Duo 1.66Ghz Mac mini w/2GB RAM.
I have not seen the two versions for Intel and PPC Macs as you described. Digidesign only produces one box...compatible with Mac or PC.
The Digidesign site states that the Mbox 2 Mini is compatible with your 1.25GHz mini, but Pro Tools LE 7.3.x requires Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.x, not Panther 10.3.x.
You would get far better perfomance using the Intel mini over the PPC. And, you would get better perfomance by maxing the RAM out as well.

  • THe new macbook fit to work with windows OS

Did the new mac book support Windows Xp Sp2 using Bootcamp? Any problems using bootcamp on the new macbook?

    Kappy wrote:
Yes, Boot Camp works fine with all Intel Macs.
Indeed it does, as does Virtual Box. http://www.virtualbox.org/
I run both. V Box is slightly more convenient because I don't have to shut down OS X to use it, but for running games then Boot Camp is best.

  • The new version won't work with my AVG-antivirus I had to uninstall

My problem is the exact opposite of the other people. AVG is just fine, it was the latest version of Firefox I deleted after it told me my AVG anti-virus program wasn't compatible now.
I want to re-install my old version because I completely uninstalled it from my programs list.

AVG has been working hard to keep up with Firefox's rapidly advancing version numbers. Support for Firefox 11 was released in Service Pack 1 according to this post from the AVG forums (yesterday): [http://forums.avg.com/ww-en/avg-forums?sec=thread&act=show&id=196419 AVG Forums - Weekly Overview: 14/2012].
However, you do need the latest version in order to benefit from these new patches. If you aren't already running a 2012 version, the first step would be to upgrade now.
    FREE: http://free.avg.com/us-en/free-downloads
    PAID: http://www.avg.com/us-en/2012-upgrade
    Does it work?
    Oh, to get Firefox again:
    Version 11: http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all
    Version 3.6: http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all-older

  • I just upgraded to Firefox 5. How can I get a copy of Firefox 4. The new version does not work with Skype's auto dialer.

How can I get a copy of the previous version of Firefox? The latest version (5) does not support Skype's auto dialer. I use this tool to be more productive.

Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended.
If Firefox disabled some add-ons (especially extensions), it likely is because they include a list of compatible Firefox versions and haven't yet been updated for Firefox 5. If they worked on Firefox 4, there is a good chance they will work on Firefox 5.
You can force Firefox to ''ignore'' add-on version restrictions by (what else) installing an add-on. Then you can test whether the add-ons important to you actually work in Firefox 5.
    [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Add-on Compatibility Reporter :: Add-ons for Firefox]
After you install this add-on and restart Firefox, there will still be a message that "--- is incompatible with Firefox 5.0" but the add-on will be enabled and a Disable button will appear for that entry.
Please report back on your results.

  • Does the new Macbook Pro still work with HDMI input?

Im wondering that ever since that new thunderbolt port has come out on the newest macbook, would connecting an HDMI adapter in the port still work for the newest model?

For HDMI output from the MBP to a monitor or TV, yes. For HDMI input from another device into the MBP, I'm not sure. That certainly wasn't possible before Thunderbolt, and I don't know whether or not Thunderbolt makes it possible now.
