Do the restore action restores also the bookmarks and the reading list?

Hi All,
I have to restore my ipad through itunes, to overcome the password lock screen problem (forgot my password).
I performed sync earlier but i'm not sure wither the reading list and the bookmarks will be retored also or will be lost?
Any information or instruction regarding this issue is very vital since i have important bookmarks and reading list.
I have ipad2 with IOS 7.0.6
Thanks in advance!

yes it will be restored to how it was when you last backed up

  • I am unable to add to my bookmarks and my reading list on my iPhone.

I am unable to add to my bookmarks and my reading list on my iPhone 4S. I was able to perform these two functions yesterday. In addition my bookmarks have been deleted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Make a master list, preferably on iCloud.
You should be able to move contacts around via iTunes.
Just drop the vCards into the Address Book and wait for the sync to finish.

  • After my upgrade to iOS6, my iPhone4 lost all entries in the Reading List and Bookmarks.  I cannot add new entries.  Any thoughts on how to fix this?

I'm not 100% positive that this is related to the iOS6 upgrade, but the timing is certainly suspicios.  Previously, I had 7 entries in Safari's readling list and many entries in the Bookmarks.  Now, I have nothing except the large pair of sunglasses and help text that tells me how to add a link to the reading list.
When I am looking at a webpage and click on the Forward button, I'm giving all sorts of choices now in full color...  facebook... Message... Twitter... Mail... Add to homescreen.  The following buttons are all grey: Print, Copy, Bookmark, and Add to Reading List.
I'm guessing that the icon color is a red herring.  Print and Copy, despite being grey, appear to work fine.  Bookmark and Add to Reading List have problems.
Adding to the Reading List makes the forwarding screen go away, as though the link was added.  When I click on the Bookmark icon and look at my reading list, it remains empty, displaying the large sunglasses and help text, as though the list has never had an entry added to it.
Adding a Bookmark prompts me to enter the name and location.  Interestingly, the list of locations is empty.  I have a single folder with no name and a check mark next to it.  I cannot do anything else (make a new folder, for example).  Once added, when I click on the Bookmark icon to look at my bookmarks, that list remains empty of individual bookmarks.  All I have are: Reading List (still empty), History (full of expected entries), Bing (which takesme to some Bing thing).
Any help in restoring my bookmarks and Reading List entries would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Thanks. That solved it. I had my doubts since I wasn't concerned about my lost bookmarks. I was concerned about the broken functionality. In any event, restoring from a backup solved both the functionality and the lost bookmarks. I appreciate the response!

  • After software update today, the Reading List on my Safari cannot be opened!

    Hello guys,
After the software update I had earlier on in the day, I can't seem to open up the Reading List on Safari. Do you guys have the same problem too?
    Regards,
    Bo Wei

    Hi...
If you have iCloud enabled and you are syncing Safari Bookmarks that also syncs the Reading List with other devices.
    Quit Safari.
    Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Bookmarks then reselect it.
Relaunch Safari. Try opening the Reading List.
If you do not use iCloud. try deleting the cache associated with Safari.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db. Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
For Lion v10.7x:  To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit then relaunch Safari. Try the Reading List

  • How can I get Safari to keep the reading list pane open all the time?

I am really enjoying the Reading List pane in Safari. How can I get Safari to make it default that the reading pane is always open on every tab or window I open? I'm running Lion 10.7.3.
    Thanks.

    Hi Necris Rex,
If you are having trouble keeping the leading zeros even after first formatting the cells as text and then importing the csv values (perhaps you are importing the csv via File > Open into a new document) then you can restore the leading zeros without much trouble:
Insert a new column next to the column where the leading zeros have not imported as you want. Here I assume the original values are in column B and your new column is C.
Put this formula in column C:  =RIGHT("00000000"&A,6) , and fill down the column.
Select column C, command-c to copy, and, with the column still selected, Edit > Paste and Match Styles.
Delete the original column that has the missing leading zeros.
Replace the 6 in the formula with the number of digits you need, so the formula knows how many zeros to "pad."
The above assumes you actually need the leading zeros back.  If you just want to display things nicely in your Numbers table, then formatting as Numeral System and setting Places to 6 (or whatever) is quick and easy, no formulas required.

  • How do I add a site to my reading list?  Seems like since the ipad software has updated, the reading list has no   symbol.

How do I add a website to my reading list on the ipad new operating system 7.0.2?  It seems that the reading list does not have a + symbol.

Open the site in Safari, then tap on the arrow coming out of a box to open the action options.
Tap on Add to Reading List. (The pair of reading glasses)

  • How can I delete the reading list in Safari on iPad 2?

I would like to delete the reading list in Safari on my iPad 2. How do I have to do it?

You can't delete the reading list portion of the bookmarks window. It is built into the app so you can't delete it. That is not optional.
You can delete items from the reading list by swiping Across the item in the reading list to bring up a red Delete button. Then tap that button to delete the item from the list.

  • Can you reorder items in the reading list?

    Simple question
Can you reorder items that are saved in your Safari Reading list?  For example, move some items to the top or rearrange them so the ones on the same topic or from the same website are next to each other?  I would think this would be something simple to do but I cant seem to do it.  I just see how you can show the ones youve read (which usually just means youve clicked on them) but had no luck when trying to drag to rearrange them

Yes you can with a little forethought. Select from the Reading List the page you want at the top. You will now see this as the usual Safari view. Use the normal procedure for adding a new page to the Reading List. The desired page will now be at the top. Try this for one item. You can then organise on paper the order you want remembering that the most recent action will appear at the top. Longwinded but it works.

  • How can i get out the reading list???

how can i get out the reading list?

This really needs to be posted in the Safari forum but I will answer it here.
What do you mean by get out? You want to see the list? Clicking on the pair of glasses controls the display of the list. The glasses are in the gray bookmark bar. Click once to open and click again to close the reading list.

  • Is there a hotkey to open the "reading list" section?

Interesting new function, the Reading List. I'd like to use it but I hate clicking, especially small things such as those on the bookmark bar. I use hotkeys for search (opt - command - f), bookmark bar (command - # of bookmark), etc. It'd be nice to pop this list up and retract it easily and quickly
    Thanks!

Sorry! Clicked on a related thread and found it to be Cmd - Shift - L. Sorry for the useless post

  • How do I make the Reading List window in Safari disappear

All of a sudden, a very irritating window or tab opened on the left side of my Safari Window asking me if I want to add the current page to my "Reading List".  I don't have a reading list, I don't want a reading list, and I want this window to go away.  How do I make it vanish?

    1. Click "View" menu in the Safari menu bar.
From the drop down select "Hide Reading LIst".
       or
    2. Click the Reading List icon Reading glasses in the Safari bookmarks bar.
         The left most icon.
    Best.

  • How do I close the reading list in Safari?

I opened my reading list and it is now using about 1/4 of my monitor screen.  How do I close it?

Exactly as dominic23 states, I followed  the step and lo and behold ... it was gone!
First open Safari, then choose Preferences from the drop-down menu.
Click on Bookmarks, then place check on Include Reading List -- the eyeglass icon then appears in the Bookmarks Bar at the top of the page.
Left click on the Eyeglass icon, and the Reading List column will disappear.
    Hope this works.

  • HT5271 The reading list icon will not work.

I can save to the reading list but but it will not open every time and just keeps getting worse.

Quit Safari. Disable bookmark synchronization, if applicable.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar. Copy the following line into the text box that opens, then press return:
    ~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the Finder window open. Relaunch Safari. Your bookmark lists will be empty, but they can be recovered. Add a few items to the reading list. Test. Same problem?
