Do we need any precautions while creating index in MV rather than tables?
Do we need any precautions while creating index in MV rather than tables?
Could you please someone tell me is there we need specifically follows while creation on MVs
MV is a seprate object. You might need to create an indexes on MViews based on how you are accessing that MV. You need to take a same preacutions what you take to create an index on the table,
I do not know what you mean by your 2nd questions. Read this for better understanding

RajendraHi,
We are running TREX 6.1.09.00 on EP6.0.9.0.0 and KMC6.0.9.0.0.
We are experiencing the same problems, even after changing the value in the .ini file as specified in NOTE 766197.
After doing changes, I restarted the server after doing the changes.
Alessandro, have you got any ideas for fixing this?

Table lock while creating index?
Hello,
my db is oracle10g. My database is OLTP system. I wanted to create index on one of the table. The table has 200 million records.
Does it lock the entire table when i create index? I am thinking, how it impacts the regular operations in the database while creating the index?
Any help is appreciated...Hi,
Do you have Enterprise Edition? If so, the online option is available to you.
So, you can do:
create index my_new_index on my_tab(col1,col2) online;or:
alter index my_existing_index rebuild online; If you don't use the online option, then yes, the table will be locked against updates, any OLTP traffic will serialize behinds the index maintenance operation.
Hope that helps,

Don't have primary Key in Target table getting errror while creating index
Hi All,
I don't have primary key column in target table, while exicuting mapping I got a error while creating INDEX.
Could you please help how to slove thisHi,
That is a process definition issue.
If you don't have a PK then:
1) or you don't execute updates
2)or you have an alternate Key to update it.
Case 1) just change the KM to IKM Control Append
Case 2) at interface, go to each column what is Alternate Key and check it as key (click at column and check the box Key at bottom of propriety window).
Does it work to you? -
Every time I save a draft it creates a new draft rather than updating thr dradt I am working on
While writing an E-Mail I may receive a call so I need to save the E-Mail. I click save and it creates a draft which is fine. I go back to add to the draft and must save again and it creates a new draft. Every time I save it creates a new draft rather than updating the old draft as it does on my other computer
Chris, my guess is you may be confused by one or more tilde files inside the project, a project file with a tilde (~) in its name.
If the project was begun in iMovie 4, the project resides in an iMovie 4 type-folder, not an iMovie 6 package. The folder lets you see the tilde file. For projects begun in iMovie 5 or 6, the project is a package instead of a folder. And you never see the tilde file, for the package looks like a file instead of a folder.
The problem is discussed here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1971832
My guess is you're opening the wrong project file to re-open the project. So when you save, it's saving a new tilde file.
The whole issue is rather confusing. Check out the topic, and if you can't get it straightened out say more about what's going on there.
Karl
PS: If you haven't yet, create a new iMovie 6 project, add something to it and save. To look inside the package, Control-click on the project (in the Finder) and choose "Show Package Contents" from the popUp menu. You will see one tilde project file and one project file without a tilde. That's ALL the project files you should ever see. -
Why Index size is bigger than table size?
Dear All,
I found in my database my tables sizes is coming around 30TB (All Tables in Database). and my index size for the same is 60TB. This is data ware housing environment.
How the index size and table size are differing?
Why they are differing? why index size is bigger than table size?
How to manage the size?
Please give me clear explanation and required information on the above.
Regards
SureshThere are many reasons why the total space allocated indexes could be larger than the total space allocated to tables. Sometimes it's a mark of good design, sometimes it indicates a problem. In your position your first move is to spend as little time as possible in deciding whether your high-level summary is indicative of a problem, so you need to look at a little more detail.
As someone else pointed out - are you looking at the sizes because you are running out of space, or because you have a perceived performance problem. If not, then your question is one of curiosity.
If it's about performance then you should be looking for code (either through statspack/AWR or sql_trace) that is performing badly and use the analysis of that code to help you identify suspect indexes.
If it's about space, then you need to do some simple investigations aimed at finding a few indexes that can be "shrunk" or dropped. Pointers for this are:
select
table_owner, table_name, count(*)
from
dba_indexes
group by
table_owner, table_name
having
count(*) > 2 -- adjust to keep the output short
order by
count(*) desc; This tells you which tables have the most indexes - check the sizes of the tables and indexes and then check the index definitions for the larger tables with lots of indexes.
Second quick check - join dba_tables to dba_indexes by table_name, and report the table blocks and index leaf blocks in desending order of leaf block count. Look for indexes which are very big, and also bigger than their underlying tables. There are special cases (and bugs) that can cause indexes to be much bigger than they need to be ... this report may identify a couple of anomalies that could benefit from an emergency fix followed (possibly) by a strategic fix.

Sysssislog got created as a regular rather than a system table
Hi. we run 2012 enterprise. I believe some testing I did on a new pkg recently created dbo.sysssislog (may have looked to sql like it was first time and it needed to create a new one) in the tables folder rather than tables\system tables folder.
But I believe we have other pkgs that create it (first time) under system tables. How can I better control this?thx Samir
Hopefully u understand from the question that I am past that.
There is no textbox on the connection manager's dialogue to override the behavior (ie that dbo.sysssilog be placed in the system tables folder called
tables\system tables) where dbo.sysssislog ended up with all of the other user tables, essentially in the folder called
tables.
There is no property in the connection's properties where tables\system tables
can be specified.
There is no property in the config ssis logs dialogue (the one u showed) where a path (tables\system tables) can be specified.
I reread Deepak's post and believe he is truly talking about a config file, that perhaps like u said I need to create. I'm not sure why u r talking about the dialogue boxes. I'm now asking if the file I mentioned is the key to controlling
this. I know what a connection manager is. -
Any suggestion for a damaged logic board rather than buy a new computer
Any suggestions for a damaged logic board rather than buying a new computer
The most frequent RAM vendor recommendations are Crucial.com and MacSales.com (OWC).
With respect the logic board, you could ask Apple about a "Fixed Price Repair" which will generally repair everything that is wrong with a Mac.

Problem while creating index for temporary table...
Hi,
i have created index for a temporary table and this script should used by multiusers. So when second user connecting to it is giving index i mean object already exists.
So what i need is when the second user connected the script should create one more index on temporary table. Will sql server provide any random way of creating indexes if the index exists already with that name??
Thank You,Nope..
SQL Server is cleaver enough to handel this situation.
When you create a index or constraint on the Temp Table, eventhough the index name is duplicate it will allow.
But it only possible on temp tables (prefixed with single #).
To Test this,
Open Two window,
Execute the below window on the opened 2 window..
create table #test
id int
Insert Into #test values(1);
Insert Into #test values(2);
Create clustered index testindex on #test(id)
Now you wont get any error on any of the window. Rite?
To fetch the created index details, execute the below code on any one of the window..
select * from sysindexes where name like '%test%'
Now you can see the 2 rows with same indexname but refereing with different table. Yes. all the temp tables (#) will be suffixed with unique number to avoid the object already found error while multiple users connects.

Process Chain error while creating index on cube
Hi All,
I have two process chain P1 daily(except sunday) and P2 weekly(sunday), both have same process, i.e. cube C1 is loaded with same infopackage in both infopackage.
Now, on saturday after laoding the content index creating process on cube c1 is failed by process chain P1, but on sunday P2 have laoded C1 correctly and created indexes.
Now, my doubt is wheather i repeat process chain P1 from creating indexes or there is no need as indexes on cube are created by PC 2.
kindly suggest,
Regards,
RajvinderHi Raj,
There is no need of running the process chain P1, the data has been bought by the process chain P2.
If there are any filters/data selection in infopackage level then you need to run the process chain P1.
Be make sure about the process chains and there infopackages/dtp's.

Configuration error while creating index in KM
Hi KM Expets,
I am getting the following error while creating a new index via System Adminstration > System Configuration > Knowledge Management > Index Adminstration.
Index could not be created; creating index failed: Invalid entry in configuration: section nameserver, key address, value tcpip://<nameserverhost>:<nameserverport> is invalid (Errorcode 7213)
I guess all the field values filled by me are correct, so not able to get the problem.
Any suggestions/help ?
